Principles and applications of PsychologyOur Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology stands out as a beacon for those seeking an alternative to traditional psychology.

As part of a bi-dimensional degree that’s research and community

work-based, we incorporate a range of transferable skills to help you

with future employment prospects, as well as curricular and extra-

curricular activities, teaching approaches and methodologies that

will emphasise your personal, academic and professional growth.

What does the programme cover?

You’ll have the opportunity to focus on two applied areas:

Clinical Psychology, and Organisational Behaviour Psychology.

Clinical Psychology

• How clinical practice aims to promote

the wellbeing and personal development

of individuals diagnosed with mentally-based

distress or dysfunction

• The classic and recent research findings

in a range of essential topics, such as

Abnormal Behaviour, Psychological

Assessment and Psychotherapy

• A variety of therapeutic treatments and techniques

used by Clinical Psychologists to promote the

healthy personal and interpersonal functioning

of mentally distressed people

• Practical training by way of an internship in an

applied clinical setting (e.g. hospital and clinical

practices) performed under the joint supervision

of a site supervisor from the placement site,

and one of our Psychology faculty members

Organisational Behaviour Psychology

• In-depth knowledge of how psychology

is relevant to the performance of

professional organisations

• Classic and current theoretical and research

findings in topics related to Organisational

Behaviour Psychology, such as Business

Psychology, Human Resource Management,

Psychology of Leadership and Management,

Media Relations and Human Performance

• Practical training in work settings (e.g.

companies and business sectors, and other

work environments) performed under the joint

supervision of an on-site supervisor from the

placement site, and one of our Psychology

faculty members

respect for, issues relating to cultural sensitivity

backgrounds or who have different

organisational roles, social affiliations

Research skills• Know and understand the different research

methods in Psychology, research design

(strength and limitations), data analysis,

and interpretation

• Design and conduct basic research to address

various researchable psychological questions

databases, research, and theory

• Select and apply appropriate research

• Demonstrate effective oral and written

figures, and graphs

• Apply basic mathematical concepts and

operations to support measurement strategies,

as well as use appropriate and relevant

probability and statistical analyses to facilitate

interpretation of measurements

• Interpret quantitative visual aids accurately,

including showing vigilance about misuse or

misrepresentation of quantitative information

• Attend to nonverbal behaviour and evaluate

its meaning in the communication contexts

• Exhibit the ability to collaborate effectively

and work with groups to complete projects

within reasonable time frames, as well as

develop relevant workplace skills: mentoring,

interviewing, and crisis management

• Manage conflicts appropriately and ethically

through soliciting and integrating diverse

viewpoints

What do you need to apply?

• A High School Certificate or its equivalent

from inside or outside the Kingdom, with

a minimum score of 80%

• A minimum score of 520 on your TOEFL test,

5 on TWE, 6 on IELTS, or their equivalent

• A minimum score of 65% on your Ministry

of Education exam (Qiyas-Qudurat) or its

equivalent (SAT)

• To successfully pass your DTMS (2 parts)

• To successfully pass your interview with our

admission committee

You’ll also need to give us these supporting documents:

Personal statement

A short written statement telling us why you’d like

to study on our B.Sc. in Psychology Programme,

and describing your distinctive experiences,

characteristics, and background. Our Admission

Committee will use your statement to measure

your creativity, intelligence, self-awareness,

determination and vision, so it should give a sense

of your long-term goals and artistic ambitions.

Letter of recommendation

An official letter from a referee (your high

school teacher) that confirms you’ll be able

to successfully complete university work.

The letter should be an original, on letterhead,

and stamped and sealed by your teacher.

متطلبات القبول• الحصول على شهادة التعليم الثانوي أو مايعادلها من داخل أو خارج المملكة بمعدل عام لا يقل عن %80

• الحصول على نتيجة 520 في إمتحان التوفل، 5 من 6 في إمتحان الكتابة باللغة الإنجليزية، أو 6 في

رسالة قصيرة مكتوبة من قبل الطالبة تبين لماذا تريد الطالبة دراسة البكالوريوس في برنامج علم النفس في جامعة عفت ، و الذي يجب أن يعكس خلفية الطالبة و

خبراتها و شخصيتها المتميزة. وتعتبر لجنة القبول هذه الرسالة قياسا لقدرات الطالبة في الإبداع والذكاء و

الوعي الذاتي والعزيمة و الرؤية كذلك يجب أن تبين الرسالة أهداف الطالبة و طموحاتها المستقبلية.

خطاب توصيةخطاب توصية رسمي من أحد مدرسي المرحلة الثانوية يؤيد قدرة الطالبة على الدراسة الجامعية بنجاح. وينبغي

أن تكون الرسالة موقعة و مختومة من إدارة المدرسة.

مهارات البحث العلميبرنامج علم النفس في جامعة عفت مبني على البحث العلمي.

ستصبح لدى الطالبات القدرة على تطوير مهارات البحث التالية عند دخولهم مجال علم النفس بشكل عام وعلم النفس

العيادي وعلم نفس السلوك التنظيمي بشكل خاص:

• معرفة وفهم طرق البحث العلمي المختلفة في علم النفس ومعرفة تصميم البحث من ناحية نقاط القوة والضعف

وتحليل المعطيات وتفسيرها

• تصميم وتنظيم بحث علمي لطرح أسئلة نفسية قابلة للبحث باستخدام منهجيات وطرق بحث مناسبة

• العمل على مراجعات آدبية باستخدام قواعد بينات ذات صلة والبحث العلمي والنظري

• تشكيل أسئلة بحثية وفرضيات قابلة للاختبار

• إختيار وتطبيق طرق بحث مناسبة وجمع وتحليل وتفسيربيانات التقرير عن طريق إستخدام الحزم

الإحصائية التي تطرح أنواع مختلفة من الأسئلة البحثية والفرضيات

• تفسير نتائج إحصائيات أساسية وإستنتاجية كالتوزيع الطبيعي والنتائج المخالفة وحجم التأثير والعلاقة وفترات

الثقة و الدلالة الإحصائية والأهمية العملية

• تطبيق معايير جمعية علم النفس العالمية مثل القانون الأخلاقي لجمعية علم النفس العالمية في البحث والتصميم

ومجموعة المعطيات والتحليل وفي تفسير ونقل بحث علمي نفسي

مهارات الاتصال والمهارات الحسابية• إظهارمهارات تواصل شفوية وكتابية فعالة متعددة

• إظهار معرفة كمية وذكر مبررات واضحة ومناسبة لإختيار المعلومات، موضحة في الرسوم

• تطبيق مفاهيم وعمليات رياضية أساسية لدعم إستراتجيات القياس بالإضافة لإستخدام فرضيات

• التفهم العميق للتقييم والتدخلات في علم النفس المرضي المتضمن على نظام التشخيص والتصنيف

المستخدم لعلاج الإضطرابات النفسية

• التعرف على مساهمة علم النفس كعلم يدرس العقل والسلوك البشري في التعرف على تصرفات الناس

وخبراتهم في بيئات العمل بالإضافة الى اكتساب معرفة عميقة بتطبيقات علم النفس في مجال العمل

المشاكل الشخصية والمشكلات الناتجة من التعامل مع الآخرين وتأثيرها في المجتمع

• تطوير مهارات أساسية في التعامل مع الآخرين ومهارات التوصل المهني اللازمة للمارسة العيادية

وبيئات العمل عن طريق الوجود الفعلي أو الإفتراضي

• إظهار فهم معرفي بالتقييم العيادي ومهارات التدخل الإجابي إلى جانب الالمام بالمبادئ الأخلاقية

المستخدمة من قبل المهنين في محيط علم النفس العيادي

• إظهار معرفة عميقة وتفهم لمشكلات متعلقة بالحساسية الثقافية والفروقات الفردية عند العمل مع

أشخاص من عروق و خلفيات ثقافية وأدوار تنظيمية وانتمائات اجتماعية وشخصيات مختلفة

• قيادة مجموعة على نحو فعال وتسهيل السلوكيات التعاونية في تحقيق غايات المجموعة والأهداف

• النتائج الكلاسيكية والحديثة للبحوث في نطاق مواضيع أساسية مثل السلوك الشاذ والتقييم النفسي والعلاج النفسي

• علاجات صحية وتقنية متنوعة تستخدم من قبل علماء نفس عياديين لتطوير الأداء الصحي الشخصي وبين

الأشخاص للأفراد المتضررين عقلياً

• تدريب عملي والجماعي في محيط عيادي تطبيقي كالمستشفيات والعيادات يتم تحت إشراف مشرف من

جهة التدريب، وأحد أعضاء هيئة التدريس في قسم علم النفس

المسار على:

• معرفة عميقة في علاقة علم النفس بالأداء في المنظمات المهنية

• نتائج أبحاث نظرية حديثة وكلاسيكية في مواضيع ذات صلة بعلم نفس السلوك التنظيمي كعلم نفس

الأعمال وإدارة الموارد البشرية، وعلم النفسالإداري وإعلام علاقات العامة والأداء البشري

• تدريب عملي في بيئة عملية كشركات وقطاعات العمل وبيئات عمل أخرى والذي يتم تحت إشراف
