It is truly a rewarding experience, including outreach programs to place flags in church classrooms, setting up flags around church grounds on federal holidays, soldiers and veterans in various ways and providing Color Corps and Honor Guard service. Last Thursday, April 23, nine current and past officers, through the kind auspices of SK George Darnell, attended an online meeting just to test our ability to run such a meeting easily. We need to do this as we have not had a meeting since February (as best as I can recall) and we are required to hold officer elections in May. I have already published the slate of candidates for the offices and will do so again

Sir Knights, Navigator’sMessage

While we are currently prevented from meeting, both by state government orders and by prudence, we are united in the belief that the Good Lord, in his own way, will help us overcome this scourge. To this end, we check up on each other, pray for each other and all families of SK’s, and perform acts of charity for all in need.

I ask all to provide me with a list of those for whom we should pray so that more of us can offer prayers for the healing and well-being of all members. I will make up a list and email it to all members.

Our State Master and PSD Steve Raschke has announced that the fourth degree exemplification for this spring, which had to be cancelled, is being re-scheduled for October 31 at the Church of the Ascension in Virginia Beach. Please ask members of your councils who are not currently in the fourth degree if they wish to become members. It is truly a rewarding experience, including outreach programs to place flags in church classrooms, setting up flags around church grounds on federal holidays, soldiers and veterans in various ways and providing Color Corps and Honor Guard service.

I have listed our next meeting, Thursday, May 14, as being held via the Zoom online teleconference software.

The Navigator’s Dates to Remember

Navigator’s Message Continued

when I put out the agenda for our meeting. In case there are nominations from the attendees, our results might be delayed as we have no way of conducting a secret ballot at this time. But that should not stop any such action. Software like Survey Monkey could be used to conduct such polls, enabling us to complete elections before the end of May.

I also would like to suggest that we consider, under new business, getting an Assembly subscription to Zoom, as we have missed a lot of meetings in the past year due to deaths and related Honor Guard services as well as the current virus quarantine. This would allow us to conduct business meetings an avoid backlogs on important items.

Finally, I would ask SK’s to provide their wedding anniversary date so we can honor and pray for them.

VJ,

Jim
