WARRANTY INFORMATION

Read and understand all safety and operating instructions before using this product. Never allow anyone unfamiliar with the safety or operating instructions to use this product. Be certain the nozzles are oriented away from the tow vehicle and operator before activating the spray. Keep children out of the spraying area and un-der the watchful eye of a responsible adult. Keep people and pets at least 100 feet away and upwind of material being sprayed. Use care when approaching blind corners or objects that can obscure your vision. Wear appropriate protective gear as specified in the MSDS information for the material being sprayed. Clean out excess material from the sprayer and disconnect the sprayer from the battery when not in use.

Check the area to be sprayed for objects, rocks, depressions or uneven terrain that could upset the spray unit or cause significant changes to the spray pattern. DO NOT tamper with the pressure regulator switch. It is preset at the factory. Never operate the sprayer while under the in-fluence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Use the sprayer only during daylight hours and times of good visibility. DO NOT, under any conditions, alter standard parts on your sprayer. This could cause personal injury and will void your warranty. Never tow your sprayer unit on public roads or highways. Always travel across slopes; never up or down. DO NOT operate on slopes greater than 15 degrees. Never attempt to lift or move the sprayer by grasping the manifold.

TESTING YOUR SPRAYER

ASSEMBLY & OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL - 40 GALLON DELUXE SPOT SPRAYER #1046404

It is important that you to test your sprayer for leakage and proper spray patterns with plain water before chemical application is attempted. This will also give you the opportunity to famil-iarize yourself with the operation of the sprayer. Add water to the tank. Read the operating instruc-tions. When everything tests all right (no leaks & good pressure) add the desired chemicals to the mixture and water combination and start your spray-

ing operation. Adjust the pressure and spray as you did in the testing procedure. Conditions of weather and terrain must be consid-ered when setting the sprayer. Do not spray on windy days. Protective clothing must be worn in some cases. Be sure to read the chemical label(s) correctly!

After use, fill the tank half way with water. Start the pump and allow the water to pump through the plumbing system and nozzle. Drain and then refill half full, add the recommended amount of a good quality tank cleaner such as Fimco Sprayer Tank Neutralizer and Cleaner. (If no tank cleaner is available, you may substitute dish soap for this step.) Turn pump on and circulate through system for 15 minutes and then spray out through hand-gun nozzles. Refill sprayer half way with clean wa-ter and repeat.

Warning: Do not allow chemical solutions to set in your sprayer for extended time periods. Some chemicals will damage internal pump parts. We recommend to only mix as much spray solution as you will spray in a day. Make sure to rinse all chemicals from the pump after use.

OPERATING INFORMATION

The pumping system draws solution from the tank through the strainer and to the pump. The pump forces the solution under pressure to the hand-gun. Connect the lead wire to a fully charged 12 volt battery. You may use either a stand-alone battery or the battery on your towing vehicle. The lead wire has an On/Off switch to activate the pump. “-” is on and “O” is off. Fill the tank part way with water and then add the desired amount of chemical to be sprayed. Finish filling tank to proper level. Turn the pump on by depressing the “-” side of the rocker switch. The pump is equipped with a pressure switch that is

pre-set at the factory to shut the pump off at 60 PSI. If the handgun and bypass valve are shut off, the pump will turn on and then automatically shut off when the pressure builds to 60 PSI. The pump will turn back on when one of the fol-lowing actions occurs: the handgun lever is squeezed to spray with the handgun or the by-pass valve is opened to re-circulate solution back into the tank. When spraying, pressure may be reduced by slowly opening the bypass valve until desired pressure is achieved. Opening the valve decreas-es pressure, closing the valve increases pressure.

MAINTENANCE & WINTER STORAGE Before storing your sprayer for winter or long term storage, thoroughly clean and drain it as much as possible. Then pour enough pink RV Antifreeze into the tank so that when the pump is turned on you can pump the antifreeze throughout the entire plumbing system, including the bypass. Make sure to operate the handgun until you see pink fluid spraying from the nozzle. Leave any remain-ing antifreeze in the tank. Before your next usage, rinse the antifreeze from the sprayer with clean water. It is nearly impossible to drain all of the water from the sprayer and any trapped water can freeze in cold weather and damage parts of the sprayer. Pumping the antifreeze through the system will displace this water and help prevent this damage.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MY SPRAYER?

This sprayer is designed to spray common liquid pesticides mixed with water. It is not compatible with petroleum products such as diesel fuel, kerosene, gasoline or other flammable liquids

This sprayer is not compatible with bleach or other caustic cleaning fluids

When using wettable powders or other dry soluble pesticides, make sure to fill the tank 1/2 full, premix the pesticide into a slurry in a smaller container, add this to the sprayer tank and then fill with balance of the needed water. Dry materials should be sprayed as soon as possible and the sprayer should then be rinsed immediately with clean wa-ter

WHY DOES THE MOTOR NOT RUN?

Check for loose wiring connection

Make sure on-off switch on the lead wire assembly is in the on position. - is on, O is off

Check for defective pressure switch

Check for low voltage at the power supply

System is pressurized and pressure switch has turned the motor off. Squeeze the lever on the handgun or open the bypass valve

WHY DOESN’T THE PUMP PRIME?

Check for air leak in supply/suction line

Check for debris in check valve assembly

Check for defective check valve

Check for clogged strainer

Check for crack in pump housing WHY IS THERE PULSATING FLOW (SURGING)?

Check for restriction in discharge line or debris in nozzle orifice

Discharge hose is too long

Adjustable tip on the handgun is set to too fine of a mist. Adjust tip for more flow or slightly open the bypass valve WHY DOES THE MOTOR CONTINUE TO RUN AFTER THE DISCHARGE IS SHUT OFF?

Check for leak in discharge line

Check for defective or dirty check valve

Check for defective pressure switch

Bypass valve is open HOW DO I ADJUST SPRAYING PRESSURE?

Spraying pressure is adjusted using the bypass valve. With the boom on and pump running, open or close the by-pass valve to get the desired pressure. With the bypass valve closed, you will get maximum pressure

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM/CAUSES AND REMEDIES: PUMP WILL NOT START CHECK: Correct voltage (± 10%) and electrical connections Fuse or breaker Pressure switch operation and correct voltage at switch Rectifier or motor for open or grounded circuit Locked drive assembly PUMP WILL NOT PRIME (No discharge with motor running) CHECK: Debris in strainer Restriction (kinks) in inlet/outlet tubes Debris or swelling in inlet/outlet valves

PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF (Output line closed and no leaks) CHECK: Air trapped in outlet line or pump head Correct voltage to pump Debris in pump inlet/outlet valves Loose drive assembly or pump head screws Pressure switch operations/adjustments LEAKS FROM PUMP HEAD OR SWITCH CHECK: Loose screws at switch or pump head Switch diaphragm ruptured or pinched Punctured diaphragm if fluid is present

Drain all water out of your sprayer, paying special attention to the pump, handgun and valve(s). These items are especially prone to damage from chemicals and freezing weather. The sprayer should be winterized before storage by pumping a solution of RV antifreeze through the entire plumbing system. This antifreeze solu-

tion should remain in the plumbing system during the winter months. When spring time comes and you are preparing your sprayer for the spray sea-son, rinse the entire plumbing system out, clearing the lines of the antifreeze solution. Proper care and maintenance will prolong the life of your sprayer.
