New Millennium Iron Corporation
Assessment Report April, 2013
Executive Summary The objective of the exploration program is to identify additional economically minable
magnetic taconite deposits in the Millennium Iron Range (“MIR”). Towards this objective,
between 2003 and 2011 geological mapping, magnetic surveys and rock sampling had taken
place over these licenses. During 2012, mapping, sampling and locating drill hole sites were
carried out in licenses 013734M, 018652M, 018653M, 014951M, 014952M and 014954M.
The iron formation samples were sent to Midland Research center (“MRC”) for Davis
Tube (“DT”) and chemical analysis. Samples collected from gossans and rusty zones were sent
to SGS Canada Inc. for gold and ICP analyses. The Certificates of Analyses are appended to the
report.
From February 15 to October 31 geological study/research of the licenses was carried out
by Senior Geologist, Henry Simpson, Ontario. Field work was done by Geologists Bocar
Diagana and Alexander Howe, Student Geologists; William (Billy) Clarke, Jonathan Remedios,
Julia Andrews, Chris Baker and Patrice Mathieu of Memorial University in St. John’s. The
geologists were assisted by Richard Sandy, James Uniam and Kabimbetas Mokoush.

2.0 Topography and Access
Access to the exploration areas is by float plane, helicopter and by boat from the Menihek Hydro
Dam. Access to the work site in 2012 was by truck, float plane, snow mobile, boat and helicopter
from Schefferville.
The western side of the Howells River area is covered by a series of swamps along the
shore and then rising gently to the east and west with small north-south trending lakes bordering
the Iron Formation. Further to the west, the area rises to a hill over 300 m higher and extending
to the west of the licence block.
The area is dominated by elevation tundra with rare stunted black spruce, which increase
in number and size as one goes from west to east. The dominant ground cover is caribou moss
with blue berries and shrubs.

3.0 Regional Geology
The exploration area is located at the extreme western margin of the Labrador Trough
(“Trough”) adjacent to the Archean basement gneisses. The Trough is comprised of a sequence
of Proterozoic sedimentary rocks, including iron formation, volcanic rocks and mafic intrusions
known as the Kaniapiskau Supergroup. This sequence lies unconformably over the Archean
granitic gneisses (Ashuanipi Complex). In the western part of the Trough, the Knob Lake Group
forms part of the Kaniapiskau Supergroup. The principal iron formation unit, the Sokoman
Formation is part of the Knob Lake group and forms a continuous sequence. The stratigraphy of
the Knob Lake Group is given below.
3.1 Attikamagen Formation (300 m +)
This formation is a green, red, grey and black shale and argillite interbedded with mafic volcanic
rocks. These rocks are exposed only in the DSO areas.
3.2 Denault Formation (60 m – 120 m)
This formation is comprised of dolomite with chert bands and pebbles of black chert. It is seen
only in the DSO areas and not observed near the iron ore zones.
3.3 Wishart Formation (10 m – 75 m)
This formation is a quartzite, sometimes felspathic with bands of arkose, greywacke, slate and
mafic volcanic rocks. This formation is well exposed all along the western edge of Howells
River taconite belt and on the hanging wall side of open pit mines of DSO.
3.4 Ruth Formation (5 m – 35 m)
This is a thin bedded to laminated chert carbonate shaley formation and is often black in color
with some pyrite. This has been included by some into the Sokoman formation. This unit on
leaching and enrichment forms high grade red DSO.
4
New Millennium Iron Corporation
Assessment Report April, 2013
3.5 Sokoman Formation (120 m – 150 m)
This formation comprises the major iron bearing units and is subdivided into three members,
Lower Iron Formation (LIF), Middle Iron Formation (MIF) and Upper Iron Formation (UIF).
These members are further sub divided into several sub-members, as given below:
All these units are exposed as outcrops in the Howells River taconite areas. In the DSO
areas, these units are recognizable in leached and enriched conditions in trenches, test pits and
old mined out pits.
The Sokoman Iron Formation under leached and enriched state produces Blue, Yellow
and Red ore. The leaching of silica, carbonates, silicates and the introduction of secondary iron
oxides produces the ore. Under these conditions all the magnetite present in the protore is
converted to martite (hematite). The Blue ore is derived mostly from UIF and MIF members,
where the units are rich in metallic oxides. Yellow Ore is derived from silicate- carbonate-oxide
units of the LIF member. The LIF member is termed as Silicate-Carbonate Iron Formation
(SCIF) in the DSO areas. The iron silicates and iron rich carbonates on leaching altered to
limonite and goethite producing Yellow Ore. Red Ore is the product of leaching of the Ruth
formation producing earthy, fine grained red hematite and goethite mixed with a little alumino-
silicates (clay).

3.6 Menihek Formation (300 m +)
This formation is a dark grey to black shale with minor interbedded greywacke and carbonate
lithofacies. It is a carbonaceous, graphitic and pyrite baring shale.

4.0 Method of Work
The 2012 field work was carried out from Schefferville by B-2 & 3 helicopters operated by Heli
Nation and Heli Boreal, DHC-2 (Beaver) aircraft operated by Air Tunilik, motor boat and pick-
up truck. The field crews consisted of two to four geologists and with two local prospecting
trainees. Sampling of outcrops was carried out in all the geological units of the Sokoman
Formation where ever possible. The basement gneissic occurrences to the west of the Sokoman
Formation were checked for the presence of gossans and rusty areas indicating sulfide
mineralization and possible associated gold mineralization. Gossans and rusty outcrops, when
noted were sampled and assayed for gold.
The outcrop and sampling locations were located with handheld Garmin GPS units. The
data gathered in the field such as geological contacts, structural measurements and sample
locations were plotted in the field and then transferred to ArcMap 9 ESRI by UTM (Nad 83).

5.0 Areas Investigated
5.1 License 013734M, 018652M & 018653M (Perault Lake Area)
The proposed drilling program to explore the airborne magnetic anomaly occurring in the Perault
Lake Area includes lic. 018653M. Good part of this license is under swamp. The original drill
site had to be moved to 6058271N, 632320E from 6058500N, 632700E. No outcrops were found
and mapped during the traverses
Licenses 013734M and 018652M were accessed by helicopter for geological mapping
and sampling. The southern section of these licenses is under cover and devoid of outcrops. On
the north end, the traverses revealed an outcrop of Sokoman Iron Formation. This outcrop was
sampled (# 10466) and sent for analysis. The Certificate of Analysis results are given in
Appendix 1.
Mapping of the rest of the area revealed Archean gneisses. Two samples of gneissic rock
were collected from a rusty zone and sent for analysis to SGS Lakefield for gold and 30 element
ICP analyses. Certificate of Analysis results are given in Appendix 1. The following Table 2
shows the sample locations. Table 3 shows the analysis results of the iron formation sample.

continuous exposure of outcrops along the shoreline. All the outcrops are of iron formation,
composed of green chert with minor amounts of carbonates and iron oxides. Some of the
outcrops are strongly magnetic, and assays of the grab samples collected show good DTWR (see
appended Certificate of Analysis). Several of the outcrops are weathered and show the presence
of goethite, secondary hydrous iron oxide. The following Table 4 shows the sample locations.

gneisses. These areas were traversed and no suphide mineralization or rusty zones were
observed.
A day was spent on traversing the central part of the peninsula to locate iron formation
outcrops on the license. The mapping revealed a small area of outcrops of UIF possibly LC (lean
chert). The outcrops are nonmagnetic, primarily consisting of green chert with carbonates and
the weathered surface is dark green with carbonate poch marks. Three samples were collected
and sent to MRC laboratory for Davis Tube analyses. The Certificate of Analysis results are
appended. Table 6 shows the sample locations and Table 7 shows the assay results.

5.4 License 014954M (South Menihek Lake)
Between July 11 and July 26, 2012, NML student geologists Billy Clarke, Patrice Mathieu, Chris
Baker and Jonathan Remedios with local field assistance Richard Sandy and Kabimbetas Noah
Mokoush spent 14 days in fly camps located along the western shore of Menihek Lake and at the
southwest end of Sara Lake on the Lic. 014954M.
A traverse was carried out along the interpreted fault zone (NL Govt. map) between Sara
and Vail Lakes to see if the sulphide mineralization occurrence noted in the Sara Lake, persist all
along the fault zone. The mapping failed to locate any sign of mineralization along the fault
zone. Four samples (12AU010 to 12AU013) were collected from quartz veins and granite gneiss
in the area and sent for multi-element analysis.
Several traverses across the strike of the IF were planned all along the length of the lic.
014954M. The objective was to locate all the outcrops and sample locations outlined in the
previous years and to locate sites for future drilling. However, due to extreme weather conditions
10
New Millennium Iron Corporation

only five traverses were made. The areas traversed show extensive boulder fields and overburden
cover. In a few areas outcrops of UIF mostly LC, weakly magnetic were observed. However, one
exposure which is over 75m long possibly MIF was mapped and sampled. This outcrop contains
strongly magnetic shaley sections and samples 8870 to 8874 and 12AU014 were collected from
this area and sent for analysis. The Certificate of Analysis results are given in Appendix 1. Table

The geological work in this area was completed by geologists Alex Howe and Jonathan
Remedios. The area was accessed by truck from Schefferville. Three outcrops were examined in
this area. The first outcrop is a Flemming Chert Breccia, a rock composed of angular fragments
of varicolored chert in a cherty matrix. The second outcrop is Ruth Shale that is highly contorted
and altered. The third outcrop examined is an iron formation, identified as MIF (See attached
map). The out crop displayed moderate to strong magnetics. One sample 10465 was collected at
6081396N, 062313E and analyzed at MRC (the Certificate of Analysis results are appended).

6.0 Conclusions & Recommendations
Much of the ground in the Menihek Lake area is covered by thick overburden with a few
outcrops. The few IF outcrops examined show evidences of weathering and leaching of
carbonates. The surface sample results indicate that oxidation of magnetite is widespread near
surface. However, presence airborne magnetic anomalies indicate that the oxidation of magnetite
does not extend deeper. Future work could include gravity survey to see if the areas with low
magnetic response have potential for DSO and seismic survey to determine the overburden depth
to select the exploration method such as drilling or test pitting to find out the nature of the iron
formation.
Mapping in the Perault Lake area has shown that only the western half of the Sokoman
Formation outcrops on these claims. Mapping of the basement should be done to clear the area
for possible tailings and waste dumping sites. In the Timmins south area historic test pits and
trenches dug for DSO exploration were located. These pits should be re-sampled with a view to
locate further DSO material. More detailed mapping of the iron formation outcrop and sampling
is also recommended to identify the structure.
