aetare Jerusalem, that is “Rejoice, Jerusalem” (Isaiah 66:10). These words are the beginning of entrance antphon or introit prescribed for the Fourth Sunday of Lent. The Fourth Sunday of Lent has also come to be called Laetare [leh-TAH-reh] Sunday because of this entrance antiphon.
As Laetere Sunday occurs almost midway through Lent, this Sunday ex-presses a bit of joy that Easter is drawing near. This can be seen in the en-trance antiphon, “Rejoice, Jerusalem,” and in the rose colored vestments that may be worn. As a penitential season, the liturgical color of Lent is violet or purple. The use of rose colored vestments gives visible expression to the joyful note that this Sunday expresses since Easter is near. At this point in the Lenten season, we have finished three weeks of fasting, abstinence, and other penitential practices. In another three weeks we will contemplate the passion and crucifixion of our Lord. We can rejoice today that we will soon celebrate Christ triumphing over sin and death in His glorious resurrection.
Easter is not here yet; we still have three weeks of Lent. If we have not been able to enter into the penitential aspect of Lent thus far, there is still time to do so. Lent is a very good time to go to con-fession if you have not done so in a little while. In addition to the normal Saturday times, extra con-fession times are scheduled. We have Stations of the Cross every Sunday at 5 pm during Lent. This a great way to contemplate what Jesus Christ suffered for each of us. The Novena of Grace will begin March 4th at 6:30 pm. I encourage you all to try and attended these various activities that we have scheduled here at Ss. Peter and Paul.
God Bless, Fr. Richard A. Yevchak, IVE
L ASSOCIATE PASTOR’S MESSAGE 3
MARCH 6, 2016 4

Hungering to Learn
We journey with CRS Rice Bowl to the Central American country of Honduras, where we meet students who are learning that it’s better to help your neighbor learn and grow than to leave him or her behind. To whom are we called to ex-tend a hand this week? Visit crsricebowl.org for more infor-mation.
Reflecting with Scripture Joshua 5:9–12; 2 Corinthians 5:16–21; Luke 15:1–3, 11b–32
Call to Family, Community and Participation Human beings are social by nature. We, like the early disciples, are called to come together as a community whether that com-munity is our classroom, workplace or family.
∗ Paul says, “So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us.” How am I called to bring God into my community? Where can I allow God to speak through me?
∗ “I no longer deserve to be called your son,” says the prodi-gal, but his father sees things differently. As a member of the family, he has an important role that no one else can fill - and his father calls him back to it. As members of God’s family, do we recognize and live out our unique roles?
∗ This week, CRS Rice Bowl features two schoolchildren from Honduras who help one another learn and grow.
∗ Who does God put in our lives to help us grow? Who in our lives are we called to help?

4º DOMINGO DE CUARESMA 6 DE MARZO 2016
