    WHAT IS THE CLEAN CLOTHES CAM-

    PAIGN - CODE OF LABOUR PRACTICES?

    The CCCs model code of conduct for the garment industry

    comprises the core labour standards of the International Labour

    Organisation (ILO) and several additional standards. These

    include: freedom of association and the right to organise; the

    right to bargain collectively; a living wage; maximum limit on

    hours of work; healthy and safe working conditions; security of

    employment; no discrimination; no forced labour; and no child

    labour.

    WHO CAN JOIN?

    The initiative is open to all stakeholders.

    WHAT PRODUCTS ARE COVERED?

    The Clean Clothes Campaign covers clothing and sportswear

    including products from the knitting industry, footwear, and fur

    goods.

    WHAT ARE THE KEY FEATURES?

    Minimum standards in CCCs model code are derived from

    the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions, the ILO

    Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, as

    well as Article 23 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.

    CCCs additional standards in its model code include the

    right to a living wage based on a regular working week that does

    not exceed 48 hours, humane working hours with no forced

    overtime, a safe and healthy workplace free from harassment,

    and a recognised employment relationship with labour and

    social protection.

    Sportswear criteria as long-term requirements based on

    the following policy applied: The company shall authorise

    a procedure with xed time limits to rectify situations where

    its code is not being fully observed by a contractor, sub-

    contractor or supplier.
