Acadia 1. Photogravure of Charles Deschamps de Boishébert (1727-1797). Little,
Brown & Co. (New York). 1899. Plate - 6.25 x 4.5 inches (15.9 x 11.5 cm).
B&w. portrait of Charles Deschamps de Boishébert with tissue guard that has
name printed in red. Very good. Photographure was taken from a painting that
was executed by an unknown French artist in Quebec. McCord Museum's
examination of the painting under ultra-violet light reveals that area to be
overpainted, putting the painting's origin before 1758. $25.00 Charles Deschamps de Boishébert (also known as Courrier du Bois, Bois
Hebert) was a member of the Compagnies Franches de la Marine and was a
significant leader of the Acadian militia's resistance to the Expulsion of the
Acadians. He settled and tried to protect Acadians refugees along the rivers of
New Brunswick. At Beaubears National Park on Beaubears Island, New Brunswick, he settled refugee Acadians during the Expulsion of the Acadians.

edition of 520 volumes printed for the Society's Members. The original edition
published in Paris in 1618 gives the full title as …Containing the Voyages,
Discoveries, and Settlements made by the French in the West Indies and New
France by commission …. Wherein is contained the Moral, Natural, and Geographical History of the Provinces described; with the requisite tables and
maps. LesCarbot was one of the original colonist that settled at Port Royal in
1607.

starting Monday July 10th 1876. Programme includes synopsis, cast
members, list of original music, etc. $50.00 Edward Rice (1847-1924) was an American Composer and pioneer of
Musical theatre. He was the manager of Rice's Star Burlesque Co. As a
Young man he was a clerk with Cunard Steamship Co. in New York before
getting into the Comic Opera business. "Evangeline” was the first American Production billed as a Musical Comedy and proved to be very
popular.

Maugerville. In the first two chapters he talks about his life in NB & the logging trade. The family moved to Maine
in about 1843. The author went on to become a US senator representing Wisconsin. $75.00

edges. $50.00 Lieutenant-General Sir John Harvey, KCB KCH (23 April 1778 – 22 March 1852) was a British Army officer and a lieutenant governor. He was commissioned into the 80th Foot in 1794 and served in several different locations, including France, Egypt, and India. He came to Canada in 1813 and served as a lieutenant colonel in the War of 1812, taking part in the British victories at the Battle of Stoney Creek and the Battle of Crysler's Farm in Ontario. From 1836 to 1837, he was the Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. From 1837 to 1841, he was the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick. From 1841 to 1846, he was the Civil Governor of Newfoundland. From 1846 to 1852, he was the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia.

Album is worn, and one page is cut in half with the bottom missing. One photo torn down the middle and taped,
another taped on the side. Photographs of rivers, one with fisherman fishing off a wooden break water. One
labelled 'The Best Guide in Newfoundland" and another with this guide and a woman fisher hold a large salmon.
Another one with two men sawing logs, one of the village of Port Saunders, the cabin cook and one of a man & a
woman with a small boy. $125.00 Port Saunders is located on the Western shore of Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula. It got its name when
three British war ships returned from Battle Harbour, Labrador. A ship under the command of Admiral Sir
Charles Saunders came here and Port Saunders bears his name to the present day.

was Elder David Nutter. It was suggested that they build a church, but nothing was done
until 1829. The first Baptist Church was built at Shipyard Point in 1834. It served the
communities of Milton, Liverpool and Brooklyn. It was registered with the Association as
the Milton Baptist Church. The church was formally opened in 1837.

photograph reads 'St. Francis Xavier Uni. 9th. Field Ambulance at Camp Aldreshot, N.S.' $125.00 W.G. MacLaughlan (d. 1935) was raised in Charlottetown and moved to Pugwash in 1895 where he opened a
photographic studio (he previously opened a studio in Boston, where he studied). He established the
MacLaughlan Studio at Barrington Street in 1914. He was the official military photographer for Halifax. (PANS)
St. Francis Xavier’s primary contribution to the war effort in 1916 was the recruiting and training of the
Canadian Stationary Hospital Unity, No. 9, financed by the Canadian government. St. FX supplied the personnel
— 12 doctors, 30 nurses, 150 men. Graduation came early so seniors could receive their degrees before
embarking on training in March. By late July, No. 9 was in England under the command of Col. R. C. MacLeod,
who became the first casualty of the unit, dying of anthrax in England. The unit went to France on December 1,
1917, and served at St. Omer, Etaples, and a general hospital at Camiens. It was the last hospital to received
patients in France and the second last to leave for England. Unit No. 9 arrived home on board the OLYMPIC on
July 8, 1919. (see Pat Walsh, 1989, The History of Antigonish, p. 178)

1900 as Cape Breton Electric Tramway & Power Company. Name changed to
CBE 1901. Operated local street railway service in Sydney, and a disconnected 6
mi. (9.5 km) line from North Sydney to Sydney Mines. Company also operated ferry
service between Sydney and North Sydney (Due). For most of its existence the
company was a direct subsidiary of the American Stone & Webster traction empire.
Company went into receivership 23 March 1931.Sydney and Glace Bay Railway Company (October 1902 - 01 June 1911) Incorporated 27 March 1902 (NS). A joint ownership venture of the
Cape Breton Electric Company and the Dominion Coal Company. Operated from Sydney via Reserve Junction,
Glace Bay and Dominion to Reserve Junction. From 07 January 1908 operated local streetcar service in Glace
Bay (one car interleaved between interurban cars) which continued under successive operators until 1938.
Merged with the CBE in 1911, Dom. Coal taking CBE stock in exchange for its share of the S&GB. (ref: Wyatt,

photograph of a bi-plane We assume the photographs are from P.E.I. as other photographs and postcards were
from the island. Also a negative of a pilot with helmet and googles. $75.00 Canadian Transcontinental Airways was formed late in 1927 in Montreal. On 25 Dec1927, a Fairchild
aircraft flew along the north shore of the St. Lawrence from La Malbaie to Sept-Îles, Quebec. This was the first
official Post Office air mail delivery for the communities along the north shore of Quebec. Operating Dates:1927
- 1938.

Canadian Forces Station Shelburne, also known as
CFS Shelburne, is a former Canadian Forces Station
located in Shelburne County, Nova Scotia. In September
1954 work commenced on a joint Royal Canadian
Navy/United States Navy Oceanographic Research station. HMCS Shelburne was re-commissioned and became
operational on April 1, 1955. Its mission was the detection, localization and tracking of submarine activity. On
November 1, 1959 the RCN assumed full responsibility for manning and operating the station. From 1964 to 1994
the Station assumed a secondary role in the operation and control of strategic refueling operations. CFS Shelburne ceased operations on July 31, 1994 and the final military ceremony and the striking of the colours was
held on Friday, 24 March 1995.
