A power purchase agreement has been concluded with Google for the total power output production and will run until at least 2025. The four wind farms Alered, Mungseröd, Ramsnäs and Skalle- berg are located at intervals of 200 km on woodland hills in southern Sweden to benefit from varying wind patterns. Swe- den is second only to France as the nation considered to have the greatest wind potential in Europe. Three of the four wind farms commenced operation in autumn 2014, while the fourth wind farm, Skalleberg, commenced operation in February 2015. The annual power production of the 29 wind turbines, which have an output of around 61.2 megawatts (MW), is approx. 182 gigawatt hours (GWh), equivalent to some six per cent of the entire electricity consumption of the city of Zurich. ewz Atlantic Sverige AB. ewz (Deutschland) GmbH holds a 51 percent share in ewz Atlan- tic Sverige AB while co-investor Aquila Capital Renewables Fund III S.A., SICAV-SIF, a subsidiary of Aquila Capital, holds 49 per- cent. Aquila Capital today ranks among Europe’s leading alterna- tive investment companies and has a significant renewable en- ergy portfolio. In January 2015 ewz Atlantic Sverige AB acquired three of the four wind farms as turnkey facilities from the former owner and builder, Eolus Vind AB, and the fourth, Skalleberg, in March 2015. Eolus Vind AB, the oldest Swedish wind farm devel- oper and builder, is among the best-established companies in the fields of development, construction and operation of wind farms in Sweden and the Baltic states. Google has concluded a power purchase agreement for the total power output, which will be use to operate its Finnish data center, for a period of at least ten years. Strategy of ewz. ewz and its owner – the city of Zurich – pursue the scenar- io of major expansion of new renewable energies, in par- ticular wind and solar energy. Its acquisition will mainly take part in foreign countries. Until 2020 ewz will increase its annual production of new renewable energies of 1200 GWh. This corresponds to around 40 percent of the electricity consumed in the city of Zurich today. The goal of ewz is to expand its wind energy portfolio up to an annual produc- tion of 2300 GWh by 2050.
