Members of the Queensland ATS chapters and visitors are invited to attend our Technical Session to be held on Thursday 12th March 2015. The topic is “Singapore Downtown Line 3 Contract C935 TBM Tunnels” Downtown Line 3 is a key line to connect to the east of Singapore for the Land Transit Authority (LTA). Contract C935 includes a deep diaphragm wall station beneath Jalan Besar and two running tunnels and undertaken by a joint venture between John Holland and Leighton Offshore. The tunnelling component of this project consisted of two 770m long segmentally lined tunnels excavated using two 6.66m excavated diameter earth pressure balance (EPB) tunnel boring machines (TBMs) at 78 metres long, weighing in at 900 tonnes each. The session will present a case study of the completed tunnelling aspects of the project, including planning, construction and delivery of the TBM tunnels.

Adam has been with John Holland for 10 years having originally started with John Holland on the Eastlink Project in Melbourne. Adam was managing the tunnel works for the Joint Venture project on Downtown Line Contract 935 in Singapore for the Land Transport Authority.
Adam has worked on a number of large infrastructure projects in Australia and Asia and his experience involves working with soft and hard ground TBMs of various sizes and NATM tunnelling equipment and methods.
