Question 2Question 2 asked the audience their age. From the results we found out that the majority of participants who took part in our survey were aged 16- 25 and the second highest age was 21-25 which means that they were all teenagers or young adults. This is something crucial for us to

know as it informs us that the rest of the results gained from the survey, reflects the opinions of young adults and teenagers hence these results cannot be generalised to other age groups. Also due to the fact that the target audience of our film are teenagers, by having understood teenagers views from the rest of the survey, we are able to understand out target audiences favourites better.

Question 4 In question 4 we asked our survey participants whether or not they enjoy watching horror films. We found out that a large amount of them do as statistics show 72.4% said yes

This is a positive thing for us as it tells us that our target audience (teenagers) enjoy watching films from the genre we are using. This means that, there’s a great chance that teenagers and young adults will enjoy watching our film because of its genre and content

Question 6When the participants were asked what type of horror movies they like watching, many of them said ‘extremely scary’ (37 %) but the second highest result was ‘not too scary’ (31%) This basically tells us that we should keep a balance of the amount of horror we use in our film. As a horror film being ‘extremely scary’ and ‘not too scary’ its like having two opposite themes it is vital that we keep a balance so our target audience enjoy the film and some don't get disappointed14% of the participants said they

like comic horror and 10.3% said gruesome. The fact that the third highest ranking was comic horror is quite positive for us as we decided to us a little comedy in our horror film. Even though the overall genre is not comic horror we decided that we would use some elements of comedy by having a funny character in the film. By using a little comedy, it would help to engage the audience

9% of people said they like Documentary style horror movies, spoofs and action horror (3% each). We decided to use a ‘documentary style’ with our horror film as well as we decided to use a ‘handheld camera’ for the main parts of the movie. This can be classified as a ‘documentary style’ and allows u, as film makers to also meet the likes for some of the teenagers and young adults.

Question 8 The results from this question tells us that teenagers

and young adults mostly enjoy watching horror movies at the cinemas and at home. This tells us that the environment teenagers and young adults

watch films is important. The fact that they want to watch it in the cinemas could possible be because of

the ‘thrill of the big screen’ and the way a film is presented to them with high quality sound etc. We could say that they enjoy watching horror films at

home because they feel more secure and comfortable. We could apply this in our film as in our film the evil is brought inside the characters house,

which is the storyline

Question 10Universal and 20th Century Fox have been the top two production companies film products our audience enjoy watching watching. Universal studios have made horror films like The Mummy, Dracula, The Wolf Man etc.20th Century Fox produced Hide and Seek which is a horror film. However 20th Century Fox produce films of other genres more than horror. Third came Paramount

Pictures who have produced very popular horror movies like Paranormal activity. We find that it’s a positive thing that our audience like film produced by this company because the techniques we decided to use for our film is similar. Use of handheld camera to give the shaky effect etc
