AAA Word From the Pastor
A special THANK YOU to the Knights of Columbus from the Joseph Mario Reali Council and all the volunteers who assisted with the parish barbeque last weekend. And many thanks, too, to the Syosset Fire Department for the use of the grills. A great time was had by all and everyone enjoyed the delicious foods that were cooked and served, and especially the com-pany of one another. Many thanks to Father Alex Mariadass who was with us for the month of July. This was his third summer with us and I know he enjoyed his stay at Holy Name of Jesus. He asked me to convey his thanks and appreciation to all for your warm welcome and hospitality. For the month of August, he will assist at St. Thomas More Parish in Hauppauge and then, in Sep-tember, he will spend a couple of weeks at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in East Northport. He will then visit with his parents and family in India before returning to Rome to continue is doctoral studies. He looks forward to his return to Long Island next summer as do we. Next weekend, there will be a second collection for the support of the Missions. Father Jose Ivan Campana, a Missionary Priest of the Yarumal Missionaries, will speak at all the Mass-es. He is originally from Ecuador and served most recently in Thailand. The Yarumal Mis-sionaries were founded over 90 years ago. Their goal is to preach among people who have yet to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. They have missions in Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Columbia, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Angola, Cambodia and Thailand. I'm sure you'll re-call that every year, every parish is called upon to help support the missionary activity of the Church -- one year to support a particular Missionary Society, another year to support the Diocesan Mission in the Dominican Republic, and the third to become a member of the Mis-sionary Society of Propagation of the Faith Office. Attention All Catholic Young Adults, ages 18-25. Please see the insert in this week's bul-letin about a Summer Event on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Basilica Church of the Sacred Hearts in Southampton. Religious Education Classes will resume next month. If you have not as yet registered/re-registered your child/children, please call Ryan and/or Bullet at the Rectory Office. Do you think God is calling you to serve in one of the liturgical Ministries of the parish - as a Lector or Minister of Holy Communion? The parish could use your assistance. The Diocese offers training sessions for both ministries in the Fall. If you think God is calling you and/or if you want more information, please call me at the Rectory - 516 -921-2334.

FOCUS: The feast of the transfiguration assures us that Jesus is the Son of God, the king who brings peace and joy into the world. For the times we have failed to place our trust in him, we ask forgiveness. In the first reading, a prophet sees a wonderful vision. A servant of God receives dominion over all the nations. In the second reading, an apostle speaks about the priceless value of the Gospel. It is a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In the Gospel, Jesus, accompanied by Peter, James, and John, is transfigured before them and revealed as the Son of God. Published by Franciscan Media

We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who strive to remind us that God is with us always to watch over and protect us.
Please pray for all the faithful departed, and for all the souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them. May God grant them eternal rest.

A Thank You from Father Alex
My dear Brothers and Sisters of the Family of Holy Name of Jesus,
As you all know that for me to come to the Family of the Holy Name of Jesus is like a home coming. I love to stay with Msgr. Bauhoff who cares for me like a dad, and with Frs. John
and Stephen. I really admire your active participation in the liturgy with reverence, keen listening to the homilies and the words of appreciation. I thank all of you for the love and
friendship you show, for the chats and smiles shared, for the prayers promised, for the en-couragement and support for my studies, and, the most thoughtful gift of all, the time you
have given me. Special thanks to fellow brother Knights of Columbus, 9 O'clock congrega-tion, Nursing home volunteers, Choir and Altar servers and the parish staff (Bullet, Ryan,
Sandra and Dan). I will be in Rome doing my Doctoral Studies from October. I have two more years to complete it. You are most welcome to Rome. If you inform me well in ad-
vance, I can make arrangements in Rome. My email id is [email protected]. Hoping to meet you in next July, I assure my prayers for you all.
May God Bless You All.
