hello from the ltg Aloha Seals!

For some of us summer is closing to an end. So don't forget to end your summer

with a BANG! We still have lots of service projects and events to attend. I highly encour-

age you all to continue serving and building your home, schools and communities.

From now until Fall Rally we should be raising funds for the PTP. Pediatric Trauma, or un-

intentional injury, remains the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and un-

der in the United States. In addition, injury results in the deaths of approximately fifteen

children per day. The horrible thing about Pediatric Trauma is that it can be easily pre-

vented. The program provides funding for hospitals, local communities and first re-

sponders.

For us a large cup of coffee cost $4. Instead of drinking that coffee every morning you

can use that $4 to save 2 lives from MNT. You can help provide training and medical

equipment for doctors and hospitals. You can help prevent mother's losing their child

due to premature birth. You can provide water to hundreds of people in Swaziland. As

Key Clubbers we have a responsibility to serve the world. We are the largest student

lead service organization in the world. We've eliminated Iodine Deficiency, but we

should not stop there. If you need any help starting a fundraiser for PTP, MNT or the Thirst

Project feel free to ask me. I will do everything I can to help you, whether it be finding

funds to start your project, advertising the project, getting volunteers. I highly suggest

you all to challenge your clubs to host at least ONE division wide fundraiser this year.

Take a risk; go to that service project, that DCM, that fundraiser or that social event. I

guarantee you will meet so many amazing people. I hope during the next few events I

will be able to personally meet you all. Please enjoy the rest of your summer!

H.A.G.S (HAVE A GREAT SUMMER)

(june 20) @ countrywood park

region picnic

I enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt with other people from other

divisions because I got to meet new people and make new friends. The

whole time I was at region picnic, the atmosphere was very high spirited

and everyone was just having fun. I was glad to see booths of food,

drinks, and merchandise go towards a good cause. Although we did

not rank at the tops during our mini spirit battle, we did do a fantastic

job at whole. I am proud to rep Division 35 West!

rosemead 5k

Surviving on 2 hours of sleep, I woke up at 5 am and my mom drove me all

the way down to Rosemead. Upon getting there I was glad to see many

familiar faces from Division 35 West, mostly from Arroyo and El Monte. The

staff at the Rosemead 5k were very kind and directed us where to go and

what to do. I had the task of being a course marshal in which I had to

ensure that the runners would stay on course throughout the race and be

sure that no cars would make it onto the racetrack. It was fun telling drivers

that they couldn’t be on the road and using my limited knowledge of street

laws I did my best to guide them back to wear they should have been. At

the end of the event there was a small gathering for announcing winners of

the race, a small game center for the children, and plenty of refreshments. I

loved this event so much because the staff of the Rosemead 5k were

amazing and seeing all these runners thanking volunteers made me very

content with what I did that day.

(july 11) @arroyo high school

officer training conference

OTC is officer training conference where key clubbers who are incoming

officers or key clubbers who plan to be part of the board come together to

learn more about how they can help out their home club, such as knowing

a position more, or learning about ways to help make the club become

better service wise and many more. What I enjoyed the most at OTC was

the PTP and MNT workshop that Cameron and I held. Not only were we

able to convey the details and facts on to the audience we also had some

time to get to know each other better by playing games. Through OTC I

was able to learn more as to how I can better myself as a president in

Crystal's workshop. I learned that responding to all emails is a good way to

show the other person that you are planning to reply and that sometimes

when holding meetings. After her workshop I was proud of myself because I

was already doing some of the things she mentions such as preparing for

the meetings, conducting elections, communicating, and letting officers try

to talk during parts of the meeting so their leadership skills could improve.

closing message

hello my name is cassidy hang.

my key club moment

Hello D35W!

I hope every one is enjoying their summer time fun! I look forward to see-

ing you all at Fans in the Stand. Do not forget to sign up if you have not already!

There is only a limited amount of spots on the bus. As

the heats continues on, be sure to where sun screen. I

can not stress enough how painful sunburns are. I my-

self was badly sunburnt during Region Picnic. For those

tech editors and historians, do not fall behind in work.

Do not let procrastination be your friend! Be sure to

keep up on work and have fun this Summer. Have a fun

summer whether you’re enjoying the sun or serving

in fun projects!

Hey Seals!

My Key Club moment was

volunteering at Aids Walk

for HIV and AIDS with all my

West Covina Seals. This event

really drew my attention by

being in Key Club even more

because of everyone's dedi-

cation and time. Even

though it was super hot and

everyone sweated so much,

we all enjoyed every single

minute of it. Knowing that our club made such a big impact for this event, made me

really appreciate being in Key Club. I hope to volunteer at more events with all my

seal-ly friends and make many new wonderful memories just like this one.
