Retirement Planning and Beyond August 20 Presented by Brian Bohn, Merrill Lynch A secure, enjoyable retirement is every professional's dream, and it’s never too early or too late to start planning. This interactive workshop explores how 401ks, pension funds, 403bs, IRAs, social security benefits and other major retirement options fit in with your retirement vision. Overcoming Trauma August 27 Presented by Támara Hill, MS, LPC-BE When something traumatic happens, the shock can reverberate in our thoughts and feelings for extended periods of time. Therapist and author Támara Hill will discuss the psychological, emotional, physiological and neurological effects of trauma. Get tips on coping with and ultimately overcoming your own trauma. Tuesdays 12:15 pm Freedom Summer August 4 DVD 120 minutes Presented by PBS American Experience tells the story of over 700 student volunteers who joined with organizers and local African Americans in a historic effort to shatter the foundations of white supremacy in Mississippi in 1964, even in the face of intimidation, physical violence and death. The Reel Story August 11 DVD 122 minutes A group of British retirees in India have only a single remaining vacancy at their hotel, posing a rooming predicament for two fresh arrivals. The young owner is then able to pursue his dream of opening a second hotel. Starring Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. (2014) The Reel Story August 18 DVD 108 minutes Sixty years after she fled Vienna during World War II, an elderly Jewish woman starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis. Along with her young lawyer, she embarks upon a major battle that takes them all the way to the heart of the Austrian government and the U.S. Supreme Court. Starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds. (2015). The Reel Story August 25 DVD 129 minutes Inspired by a true story, this film follows novice runners from an economically challenged town in California's farm-rich Central Valley, as they try to build a cross-country team under the direction of their new coach. With grit and determination, the unlikely band of runners overcomes the odds to forge a championship team. Starring Kevin Costner and Maria Bello. (2014) Wednesdays 12 pm Light Literary Lunch Club is on hiatus in July and August. Second Wednesday Meditation Group August 12 Doors open at noon, close at 12:15 pm. Sessions last 35 minutes. Smithfield Critics Book Discussion Group August 19 Just Kids by Patti Smith In the tumultuous summer of 1969, a chance encounter leads two young people from Brooklyn on a path of art and devotion. Patti Smith would evolve as a poet and performer, and Robert Mapplethorpe would direct his highly provocative style toward photography. A true fable, this story is a portrait of two young artists' ascent and a prelude to fame.
