The invitation to pray is a rathercommon characteristic of the messagesof Mary. Mary calls us to pray; she saysshe is with us; she desires to help us;she desires to guide us. We are herchildren, and again she affirms us, sheconstantly reminds us of her love andprotection.

tain, my rock-climbing confidence beganto wane. I also had become short of breath.I did not think that I could possibly man-age the giant step-ups required to reachthe summit. Losing all confidence and feel-ing dejected, I insisted my son continueup and I would rest and wait for him atthe halfway point.

Seated on a rock, enjoying the beautifulvista of such a blessed locale, I greetedand was greeted by the many pilgrims ofvarious nationalities ascending and de-scending. My attention was drawn to a veryelderly white-haired couple (I presumedhusband and wife)—both were slim andtall and were handling their descent ex-tremely well. The gentleman had a woodenstaff in his left hand and his right handheld onto his wife. When they reached me,

they stopped; and in a heavy Irish brogueshe inquired if I was alright. I thanked herfor her concern and explained my dilemmaof not being able to reach the top of Mt.Krizevac.

Her green eyes were piercing and her voicesteady and strong—“Then, my dear, youmust climb the mountain at night.” I feltdumbfounded at that advice—if I couldn’tclimb the mountain during the daytime, how would I be able to climb the moun-tain at night?!!! I almost dismissed the ad-vice, but it nagged me all afternoon—andthen the light bulb went off—literally!!! Atdinner that very night, I leaned over to myson and said, “We’re climbing Mt.Krizevac tonight.” One hundred adjectivescould not describe the look of surprise onhis face—“Are you sure, Mom?” “Yes!!!”

In the dark of the night, with my flashlightin hand, I was only able to see the chal-lenge immediately before me—what wasin the circumference of the light, and notthe intimidating steep wall of rocks I hadperched on earlier. I knew I could do it,concentrating only on what the flashlightshowed me, one step at a time. In whatseemed like minutes (I know it was longer),I was atop Mt. Krizevac. Praise God!!!What a thrill!!! And my left leg was not aproblem!!!

Many times in my mind, I have thankedthis dear Irish lady for her words of wis-dom. No matter how big or intimidatingthe challenge before you, don’t give up—deal with it in small steps and you will over-come. This is one of life’s lessons.

Thank you again, dear Irish lady.

n July 21, 2014, JakovColo spoke to the pil-grims in Medjugorje.

This is a summary of histalk. There are many thingsthat cannot be described. Our Lady has been appear-ing for 33 years. This is 33years of a great grace. Forall pilgrims, there is enor-mous grace: Enormousgrace for us, the parish ofMedjugorje, and great gracefor the entire world. Pil-

grims come to Medjugorje in thanksgiv-ing. We have to thank God for the giftsthat have been bestowed on us and bethankful for Our Lady staying this long.

Many pilgrims ask, “Why?” They ask,“Why so long?” Pilgrims ask, “Why somany messages?” Medjugorje is God’s

plan, and we have to thank God for all ofthis. We need to listen to the words ofOur Lady. We need to open our hearts toher. Why has Our Lady appeared so long? Our Lady is our Mother and loves her chil-dren. Our Lady wants to bring her chil-dren to grace, joy and salvation. This isthe only reason why Our Lady has ap-peared for so long.

“When I was 10 years old, my faith wassimple. I knew that God existed and that Ihad to go to Mass and be good. Never inmy prayers did I ask to see Our Lady.Everything changed on June 25th, 1981.This was “the most beautiful day of mylife.” I was given the great gift to see OurLady and look into her eyes. I could feelmuch love in my heart. I started lovingOur Lady as my mother. I received giftsand grace and received a responsibility thatI was not ready for. What would my lifebe like? Our Lady said, “Dear children, itis enough to open your hearts to me. Sayyes to Jesus and Mary.” A brand-new lifestarted for me. I can never thank Godenough. It is a great gift. The reason OurLady has come to Medjugorje is to get usto know Jesus. That is the only reasonOur Lady has come to Medjugorje.

“The messages from Our Lady consist ofconversion, peace, fasting, Holy Mass andprayer. Some of Mary’s messages onlysay to pray, pray, pray, pray. Our Ladysays to pray with the heart. Our Ladysays that our prayers should be our dailynourishment. Prayer is a gift from God.We need to remain in silence and talk toGod and ask God for that gift. We needto open our heart to Our Lady and God.

There is a rumor, which originatedin Canada, that claims IvanDragecevic received an urgentmessage from Our Lady regarding awar in the Middle East. Ivan hasasked that we let everyone know thatthis rumor is false. Please do all youcan to stop this rumor fromcirculating.

Rumored Urgent Messageto Ivan

“Pray for our own family. Nothing canunite a family like family prayer. FatherSlavko said to find time for prayer withyour family. Lock the door and do notopen the door for anyone while you are infamily prayer. If there is no God in ourfamilies, then our families cannot survive.Every child is a gift from God. Parentsneed to be an example for children.

“One of Mary’s messages is to fast onWednesdays and Fridays on bread andwater. Another message is: Through prayerand fasting, you can stop wars. You canpray to fast and you will be able to do it. Iwill give you an example. How manypeople are dying of hunger? How manyof us thank God for the things we have? How many of us do not thank God forwhat we have? Many people are happy, have everything. Without God they havenothing.

“People do not come to Medjugorje to seethe visionaries. They come to get the mostbeautiful gift we get in Medjugorje, whichis to change our lives. Everyone whocomes to Medjugorje is invited. When yougo home, you will understand what youhave received. “Be my apostle in theworld.” Everyone who has come here hasa responsibility. Our God works throughus. Pilgrims ask questions. How much isOur Lady beautiful? If I can only explainit. Our Lady is most beautiful in my heart. Our Lady says, ‘I am beautiful because Ilove.’

“I see Our Lady as a normal person. Shehas a white dress and a blue veil. Pilgrimsask about the secrets. I would like to saywhat Our Lady said, and that is to pray.Everyone who has completely surrenderedto God should not be afraid of God. Beready for God at each moment to be abetter person that day.

“In conclusion, what other place could beas beautiful as Medjugorje? I will prayfor you. We will remain united in prayer. We will now pray one Hail Mary for allyour intentions.”

The only problem is that it is expen-sive for us to come here. But people fol-low these events and messages on websitesand Facebook as well, usually in the Span-ish language and are related to Paraguay,so through those sites we receive all theinformation from Medjugorje.”

IIIII It happens very often that whole fami-lies arrive to Medjugorje for the

Youth Festival, young children and theirparents, and we had the chance to meetthe family Nikolic, Croats from Zurich.Their message was: Come to Medjugorje.Ljiljana is a mother of four children andhas been coming to Medjugorje for sev-eral years now. She told us briefly: “I amnot here at the Festival for the first time, and every year I bring my children. Wetry to pass on Medjugorje to our families, friends, even at the working place.” Herhusband told us that they have been com-ing here for 20 years now.

Ana Cassignol (31) came to Medjugorjefrom Paraguay. This is her first visit, andshe told us: “It was not easy to come here, but I am trying to follow Gospa’s mes-sages that touched me in my heart, movedme to the conversion and keep inspiringme to change myself and to renew and fixmy spiritual life. When he was only 10 yearsold, his granny spoke to him aboutMedjugorje, and he tried to live the Gospa’smessages ever since. He works in medicalcare in geriatrics, and for a long period oftime he has had a “double life.” Duringthe day he cares for the old and sick people. And in the evening he “arms” himself withrosary beads and Our Lady’s statue andgoes to the suburbs and the most danger-ous areas of Guadalajara where he evan-gelizes prostitutes, transvestites and homo-sexuals through Our Lady’s messages, es-tablishes prayer groups in their neighbor-hoods and prays with them, many timesin the streets.

Usually he approaches a prostitute by say-ing to her, “How much do you ask?” Onceshe tells him the price, he says to her, “Hasanyone ever told you that you are worthmuch more, that you are worth every dropof Christ’s blood?” And then he speaks toher about the messages. Two years ago, aSpanish movie director, Juan Manuel Cotelo, asked him to give a testimony of his life inthe movie about the Gospa and Medjugorje,

and he agreed to that. What followed at theend was a major surprise for him becausethe director gave him a ticket to Medjugorjeand he came here for the first time. This yearhe was invited to speak at the Youth Festivalabout the influence of Medjugorje on his lifeas well as the fruits of Medjugorje.

Valentina Pavsyukova, from the Ukraine, spoke afterwards about her experience oflife under the communist regime and howthey were not able to live their faith. Whenshe was a little child, her granny taught herto pray the Our Father. When she was 18,she immigrated to the United States, andthis prayer helped her a lot in the difficultmoments of growing up somewhere farfrom her home. In 2007, she was stronglydrawn to the Catholic Church and sheexperienced her conversion. It was inMedjugorje where she received feedbackon how to live. She wanted to become amissionary, and she established a humani-tarian organization “Chalice of Mercy” thatprotects life from conception to naturaldeath. Valentina lives in Medjugorje in theprayer community “Light of Mary” andorganizes pilgrimages for the youth, medi-cal students and mostly for gynecologists.

In September 2009, Andrea and his par-ents went to Medjugorje. It was the lasthope they had for a cure. The first signcame one evening as he had gone into thegarden of the place where they were liv-ing. “I could not sleep. I went into the yard, made the Sign of the Cross and began topray. Then the head of Our Lady’s statuebefore me lit up. Although it was a beauti-ful light that one could not describe, I gotscared and went back inside. I invited myparents to come and see. When they ar-rived, two beams came out of the statue,

one from the heart, the other from the leg.”Andrea de Luca told the Croatian Daily24 Sata. “Then one day a nun told me,‘Talk to Jesus. Talk. Tell him to take awayyour disease.’ The following day I went toMass and prayed for the first time formyself. I felt a heat in my entire back,”said de Luca, 16 years old at that time.Because of fear, he would not put hiscrutches away. That he only did when hereturned to Italy.

“When we returned home, I waited withmy crutches in order to get out of the bus. Then three times I heard a voice in myheart saying, ‘You are my apostle. Walkand wear my light.’ From that momentceased the very big pain that I had felt forthree years,” said Andrea. “I did not wantto talk about it then. I was a child. Now Iam an adult, and the doctors have con-firmed that a miracle has happened in mycase,” he said.

or three years, Andrea de Luca wassuffering from perthes, a rare disease

of the hip, confined to a wheelchair, as hisfemoral head and hip were flaking. DuringMass in Medjugorje, he felt a strong heat, and upon his return he heard a voice tellhim to walk. Medical experts confirm ahealing they cannot explain. Twenty-one-year-old Andrea de Luca fromCastellammare di Stabia, Italy, lived thiscondition for three years until he was curedin Medjugorje.
