Eastern Australia Growing Season 2014/15
• Moisture conditions less favourable in NNSW & QLD throughout growing season
• Good early season conditions in Cntl & Sthn NSW, and VIC.
• Sthn NSW & Vic received below average rainfall through late winter and spring, and conditions deteriorated.
• All regions had generally drier and warmer than average conditions through spring: contributing to lower yields and higher than average protein levels.
• Harvest weather conditions generally very good; resulting in early and quick harvest activity.
• Almost no negative quality impact from weather in harvest period.

Eastern Australia Wheat Quality 2014/15
• High test weights
• Average grain size
• Low moisture contents
• Above average protein
• Gluten index >90 for all samples
• Excellent noodle colour & colour stability
APH: good dough strength & farinograph stability & is typical of the class AH, APW, ASW: good dough strength & balanced dough properties
Benefits of Milling North Eastern Australian Wheat
• APH is only grown in QLD & NNSW (BLACK SOILS with high nitrogen presence) & in SNSW
• Most wheat varieties grown in these regions are APH varieties
• This means that even the lower grades (i.e. AH & APW) have better milling & baking characteristics than non APH varieties i.e. extraction, gluten quality, water absorption & dough strength etc
