The year 2014 in Australia is likely the world’s
hottest year on record, after the country made
it through their second hottest November.
According to the Australian Bureau of
Meteorology, temperatures in the country will
continue to soar, with high temperatures
becoming a part of an ongoing trend around the
world.
Experts derive Australia’s average seasonal
temperature by averaging the data from
weather stations, where records go back as far
as 1910. They then compare the figure with the
long-term average temperature.Spring 2014 in
Australia recorded an average temperature of
24 degrees Celsius, which exceeded the mean
by 1.5 degrees Celsius. That is the largest
seasonal departure the country has ever had.
Warmer Temperatures in Australia and
Around the World
According to the data, Australia has also been
experiencing temperature increases of about
0.9 degrees Celsius ever since 1910. This
means Australians might experience warmer
temperatures in their homes year after year.
This long stretch of warm weather happens in
accordance with warmer temperatures around
the world. Experts say it is because of climate
change. El Nino conditions continue to in the
Pacific Ocean, and the warm temperatures of
the ocean are heightening the drought in
Australia.
Reduction of Exterior Surface Temperature
in Homes
Experts are calling for Australian homeowners
to reduce the effect by insulating, caulking, and
weather stripping their homes, as well as
applying a certain type of coating in their roofs.
Some tint formulation technologies, according
to experts, significantly reduce the exterior
surface temperature in homes. Some can even
reduce outdoor surface temperatures by up to 5
degrees Celsius.
With the increasingly warm and uncomfortable
temperatures in the country, experts also give a
piece of advice to Australian homeowners to
equip their homes and roofs with a restoration,
since the extreme heat rapidly weakens roofing
materials. They also advise homeowners to put
more effort on insulation, caulking, and weather
stripping to protect the home and their families
against the harmful rays of the Australian sun.
