first day of class and placement testAll students are given a written test and an oral interview to ensure that they are placed in a class appropriate to their level.

Students should bring the following to school on their first day:• Passport

• A recent passport-size photograph

• A receipt of their medical insurance and a copy of their insurance policy (in English).

• Every four to five weeks, students are assessed through tests and class performance so that they can see the progress they are making.

module 2: distance delta orientation courseThe 2-week face-to-face Orientation Course (OC) is offered in March/April each year. The OC is mandatory for those studying module 2 and includes completion of the first formally assessed Portfolio Assignment. The OC also assists each candidate to become part of the Distance DELTA web-based learning community.

AUT International House offers residential accommodation in the Wellesley Student Apartments. The fully furnished apartment for the use of International House students provides a safe and modern environment. It contains 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. Students from other departments of AUT also live in this building. The Wellesley Student Apartments are a 5-minute walk away from AUT International House.

Student check-ins are on a Sunday and check-outs on a Saturday. Weekly cleaning, Internet and electricity are included in the fees. friday activitiesAUT International House organises weekly free student activities such as soccer, games tournaments, pool, shopping, conversation classes or cultural visits. Some excursions may include an additional entrance fee such as a visit to the Museum, Sky City, bowling or kayaking. Activities vary from week to week and certain activities are subject to the interest of students and availability of teachers.

weekend excursionsAUT International House works with a number of independent professional companies specialising in providing weekend excursions and activities for language school students in and outside of the Auckland area.

Weekend excursions with friendly and experienced guides are organised to Rotorua, Coromandel and the Bay of Islands and offer a range of activities such as farm stays, bungy jumping, camping, wine tasting, horse riding, and in summer swimming with dolphins, diving and snorkelling. In winter there are ski trips to Mount Ruapehu and other places.
