What is MyLDS?

Malaysia Leadership Development Seminar (MyLDS) is the largest national youth development conference by AIESEC in Malaysia. It is a platform for youth to take one step forward and cultivate the leadership potential within them. In MyLDS, there will be numerous challenging and interesting activities and events prepared including soft and hard skills development, Youth to Business Forum1, and Global Village2. 1 Youth to Business Forum: A forum for the young leaders to have an opportunity to connect with external corporate to explore and understand further about the real business world. (http://youthtobusiness.org) 2 Global Village: A unique cultural festival, which creates an opportunity to get acquainted with different countries through interactive exhibitions, showcases and performances.

What is CD Team?

Chief Delegate (CD) Team is a team formed to coordinate the participation of AIESEC members from UTM and Southern Region to MyLDS. In another words, through enabling these people to participate in MyLDS, the CD Team could lead the delegation to represent Local Committee (LC) UTM in the national plenary. In short, the CD Team’s roles includes creating and maintaining LC UTM’s identity, motivating and encouraging the participation of LC members to MyLDS.

Criteria for Application

Application for the position of Chief Delegate (CD) term 2014/2015 are open to all AIESEC in UTM members who fulfills the basic requirements of the Chief Delegate. Required criteria for candidates: 1. Be committed and responsible 2. Must be able to check email a minimum once every 2 days 3. Able to work in team

Preferred criteria or candidates: 1. Actively involved in Local Committee (LC) activities 2. Possess leadership, communication and management skills 3. Able to set priorities

Application Procedure

1. Submission of application form must be before the deadline stated and every application must be accompanied by manifesto. For CD applications, forms must be delivered in soft copy to Vice President of Talent Management Kenny Sim Soon Jin ([email protected]) and Director of Talent Management Bay Yan Er ([email protected]).

2. All CD applicants are required to present a public speech in

front of all AIESEC in UTM members and attend a Q&A session during Vote of Confidence. This is to offer opportunity for AIESEC members to know the candidates better and at the same time, provide a platform for candidates to share their ideas, vision or passion. There will be a vote of confidence for the applicants to proceed to a final decision by the EB 2014/2015.

3. The result of the election will be announced during the Vote of Confidence as well.

4. Applicants must prepare for the following: Application form Manifesto (not exceeding 4 typed pages with 1.5 spacing) A 2 minute speech during election Q&A session during Vote of Confidence

Applicants can fill in as much information that is relevant and not be restricted by this given template. Manifesto

The applicant is required to use font Arial size 12, 1.5 spacing. The manifesto has to be delivered in soft copy to Kenny Sim Soon Jin ([email protected]) and Bay Yan Er ([email protected]) before the deadline. Please try to keep your answers concise and concrete. Your manifesto should not be longer than 4 pages. Note: Applicants must write the manifesto sincerely without any fraud, please answer the questions to represent the real you. If this basic criterion is not met, not only AIESEC would suffer from the consequences, you yourself would suffer for this irresponsible action.

4. Describe your experience in supporting your application to be CD of LC UTM.

5. Describe three(3) of your strengths that can help to

lead AIESEC in UTM delegates in MyLDS and three(3) of your weaknesses that you think that will affect the function of being a CD.

Job Description

By being a Chief Delegate, you are the leader leading a group of members in a CD Team to perform a set of task and it is the CD’s responsibility to ensure all of the tasks are being carried out smoothly. The list of tasks/Job Description as a CD is as below: 1. Communication channel between the organizing committee (OC) of MyLDS 2015 and the AIESEC UTM delegation. The

Chief Delegate is in charge of communicating all questions, suggestions and comments from the AIESEC UTM delegation to OC.

2. Establish and portray positive team identity of AIESEC UTM delegation in the national planery. 3. Coordinate preparation of the following for all delegates of AIESEC in UTM:

• Roll calls • Square dance • Costumes and materials needed for Global Village

4. Organize and facilitate meetings or discussions on preparation for MyLDS 2015. 5. Promote MyLDS 2015 to members and constantly updates CD team and EB about MyLDS 2015. 6. Ensuring the punctuality of the delegates to the planeries in MyLDS 2015. 7. Administer the listing of delegates of the LC, emergency contacts, food restrictions, understand of the logistic

information of MyLDS 2015. 8. Ensuring the communication of the logistic information to the delegates (date, place, transportation, time of

departure). 9. Update constantly to EB of any changes of logistic information as well as the number of members that are attending

the conference. 10. Handling the finance of the AIESEC UTM delegation for MyLDS 2015 (including delegation fees and ways to reduce the

fees and expenses through external engagement).

Merchandise 1. Prepare, design and coordinate the production of

AIESEC in UTM merchandise that has representation of the LC

2. Budget and manage resources for production of the merchandise.

3. In charge of sales and marketing of merchandise. Global Village 1. Plan and coordinate preparation of LC UTM in Global

Village. 2. Manage smooth presentation of Global Village in

MyLDS 2015. 3. Budgeting and managing resources for Global

Village.
