1 Overview

1.1 Introduction

The document is an overview of all settings that AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 Polish Country Kit contains.

The document contains abbreviations mention below:

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 Polish Country Kit – Polish CK

Polish CK contains folders mentioned below:

Template. Folder with template files with Polish styles for Civil 3D objects and labels. There are two files:

for surveyors and road and pipe designers.

Plan Production. Folder with templates that contains layout settings for Plan Production

Corridor Design Standards. Folder with a setup files for Design Criteria, Superelevation Table, Automatic

Curve Widening for corridor models and Roundabouts parameters definition.

Quantities Reports. Folder with files containing settings and templates for volume and material reports

for Corridor models or dynamic tables in the current drawing.

Reports. Folder with template files for various reports that can be generated for objects in design.

Toolbox. Folder with configuration file for the Toolbox tab in the Toolspace.

Assemblies. Folder containing drawings with predefined assemblies that can be accessed from the Tool

Palettes or during creating intersections.

Tool Palettes. Folder containing tool palettes with Polish assemblies and subassemblies.

Pay Item Data. Folder with files containing settings for reporting QTO reports from objects in the current

drawing.

All Civil 3D objects are generated with their own styles, when created in the drawing with a Civil 3D commands.

They can be also automatically labeled. All styles and default settings are set in the template file of Polish CK. All

styles, layers and settings may be freely modified by user and saved in template file. Note that new styles created

in design drawings will not be automatically saved in the template file of Polish CK. This has to be done manually

by user by dragging new styles from drawing file to template file.

8.1 Subassemblies and assemblies

Country kit contains three test palettes. If proposed approach will satisfy customers they will be extended.

1. Zespoły PL – Polish assembles both for intersections and for different classes of roads

2. Pasy ruchu PL – Set of subassemblies LaneOutsideSuper with predefined parameters for different Polish

standards of traffic load

3. Łącza PL – Set of link subassemblies with predefined parameters and codes to work as ditches, benches,

shoulders and so on.

9 Highway design check files

Design criteria file is used for calculation of minimal radius of alignment curves used in road design. When user

define class of the road and design speed, the design will therefore follow the Polish standard for road design.

With conjunction with design criteria file user shall use design criteria sets that extend Polish standards for

minimum and maximum line length, spiral A value, and FG profile maximum slope.

When user violates one of the design criteria, Civil 3D shows a warning in the drawing for objects that are violated.

The figure below is an example of violating the design criteria.

Design criteria file is also used for calculating superelevation values and transition lengths according to Polish

standards and calculating automatic widening on curves according to Polish standards.

The figure below shows the Polish design criteria.

10 Quantity Take Off

10.1 Overview of QTO

In Civil 3D 2012 it is possible to create a link between an Pay Item list and Civil 3D objects as well as AutoCAD

objects. The link works on two levels:

1. Settings in the template. Corridor codes, pipes and structures are automatically linked to the pay item

list.

2. Select objects. Select polygon, polylines, lines or feature lines and manually link them to the Pay items.

If objects in the Civil 3D drawing are linked to the pay Item list, then it is possible to run a report that prints areas

and length for objects, that are linked.

Figure below shows a report with summary of Pay Items.

It is possible to summary different types based on count, area or length. The Pay Item can contain a formula that

can multiply the summary with a price. Information from QTO can be shown in reports (CSV, HTML or TXT) or be

exported to use in third part calc. application.

10.2 Creation of QTO

10.2.1 Master Pay Items List

<Pay Item Data\PL\Standard_PL.csv> file is the Pay Item list.

This is an CSV file that can be edited with Microsoft Excel or Notepad. The CSV file contains Pay Items that can be

linked directly to Civil 3D objects or common AutoCAD objects for counting in meters and areas.

10.2.2 Pay Items Index

<Pay Item Data\PL\Standard_PL.xml> file is the Pay Item index.

The Pay Items Index file is used to categorize the Master Pay Items file from a flat list to a tree structure. Figure

below shows Polish Pay Item tree structure.

10.2.3 Reports

QTO reports to an HTML style sheets (.XSL) files with the QTO counting from the current drawing. After this is it

possible to change format to CSV, HTML or TXT format.
