Welcome to the Autumn / Winter season atScottish Youth Theatre – Scotland’s nationaltheatre ‘for&by’ young people. Thus far, 2012has been a hugely successful time for theorganisation. Our aim is to create, imagine andinspire – and we’re confident that we have donejust that – your feedback forms tell us so. Wevalue your comments and appreciate yourtaking the time to write them, so thank you!

To round up the last six months would be a littletricky with such limited space, so please docheck out our social networks and website forengaging content that will give you a realflavour of just how busy SYT has been up tilnow in 2012. From twisting the works of theBard (Summer Festival 2012), to being part ofthe Cultural Olympiad, to nurturing thecountry’s brightest young writing talent,Scottish Youth Theatre not only continues tooffer regular activities across the country(weekly classes for ages 21/2 - 25), but we’recommitted to broadening the depth of what it iswe can offer, wherever and whenever possible.

The second half of 2012 is no exception. TheAutumn/Winter season kicks off with ourprogramme of weekly classes in Aberdeen,Edinburgh and Glasgow, including a new strandof Early Years classes at the Royal BotanicGarden in Edinburgh, now in its second term.The Family Storytime team will be taking to theroad with an Autumn tour featuring ‘Storiesfrom Around the World’, as well as performinga host of new stories in the new ‘Tales from theArabian Nights Season’. The October breakwelcomes back the wickedly fun Junior SleuthsMurder Mystery performance course in

SPECIAL PROJECTS Scottish Youth Theatre’s highly skilled outreach team have a huge varietyof skills in working with young people aged 2½ - 25 years old from a widerange of educational and social backgrounds. The core artistic team cancreate, develop and facilitate bespoke special projects to suit any clientneeds. Special Projects range from one-off themed workshops to fullscale productions, holiday courses to professional development andcorporate entertainment pieces.

Summer Festival is the acclaimed,annual flagship event from Scotland’snational theatre ‘for&by’ youngpeople, open to young peopleacross Scotland aged 8 - 25.

Every summer, hundreds of youngpeople who are passionate abouttheatre and performance take partin Summer Festival, and take theirtheatre skills and experience to thenext level. Summer Festival 2013will explore the concept ofIndependence? in all its guises –not simply the imminent referendumvote facing Scotland. After a hugelysuccessful inaugural year, we aredelighted to be offering the

Performance and Production LearningProgramme (4 Jul - 10 Aug 2013)credit rated by SQA on the SCQFLevel 7 and worth 29 credit points,as part of Summer Festival 2013.
