Reports: Shed Report: The seats are back in the Morris courtesy of Malcolm and Ben, they do look good and emphasise the need for us to continue with maintenance on our Club property. With contents on the top shelf in the Shed made more accessible to all Members and a cleanup out back, our Shed will be in better than standard condition and ready to be utilised by Members to care for their vehicles in a more sociable/comfortable environment. Then we will start dealing with excess ‘parts’, firstly available to Members or made ready for our next Swapmeet. Events Northam Vintage Swapmeet: Tomorrow, 15th. All in readiness, bay marking to be finished, transport other items to Oval, Members in attendance overnight. Radio channel to be chosen. Flying 50: 28-29th March. This year all is free, so attendance will be interesting. Many extra exhibits along the route around our CBD, including display of AVVVA Members vehicles in front of Town Hall. Our Member, Randell Beavis as Chairperson has been a driving force so should be a good event. Corrigin Vintage & Classic Motor Show: Sat 11th April. A good event, held bi-annually, worth a visit. All Aust. Car Day, Waroona: Showgrounds, 12th April, 10-4pm, gold coin donation. Classic Car Show: Whiteman Park, Sun 3rd May. If attending, please notify our Registrar, Andrew Wells, so that space is allocated. He needs to confirm with Show Organisers. Moondyne Festival: Toodyay. Also on 3rd May. Numbers of attendees would be appreciated to Secretary. Moved Stan Eastwood... Seconded Ben Sullivan… That the reports be accepted Carried New Members: Rob Bell, local from Seabrook, with a 1964 Falcon 2door coupe, restored and a 1965 Falcon 4door Sedan, original. Rob is rejoining the Club and is known to Members. Moved: Alf Brown… Sec: Milton Sudholz…. That Rob Bell be accepted as a Member of AVVVA. Congratulations Rob on rejoining our Club. General Business: *CTP Green Paper: A proposal to add no-fault catastrophic injury cover to the existing compulsory third party insurance scheme has raised a number of questions among WA’s historic motor vehicle clubs. The Council of Motoring Clubs (CMC) is the umbrella body for WA’s historic motor vehicle clubs. It includes 111 different clubs, a total membership of some 8,000. Collectively these members own some 8,000 cars and 2,200 motor cycles. Approximately half of each group are concessionally registered under Code 404 for historic vehicles. The CMC has made a submission to the Insurance Commission of WA, that it believes no justification has been presented to warrant an increase in premiums by $109pa from the introduction of the scheme. The CMC is of the view that increasing the insurance premiums for motorcycles without significant investment in safety strategies does not in any way address the serious problem of motorcycle accidents. Accordingly the CMC does not support a $109/yr increase in insurance for motorcycles. The CMC negotiated the Code 404 licensing concession scheme for older vehicles with Government. The CMC has perused various ‘alternative concession schemes’ and does see some benefit that these suggestions have for the old vehicle movement, none of these proposals have been developed in WA to a stage where they can be seriously debated. While the CMC does not necessarily oppose any such schemes, it would not support a proposal that adversely affects the existing Code 404 concession scheme. The above is an extract from the CMC submission. A full copy can be obtained by contacting AVVVA Secretary. *AVVVA-Shire of Northam Lease: The Lease is now to hand so we will be going ahead with meetings with the Shire to reach a consensus with each of the Lease items, check out each party’s responsibilities and boundaries. We need to look to our budget for the Club and the Club House. Is this building heritage? What improvements can and should we make to suit the next 8yrs of a 10yr lease, with no guarantee of a renewal. *Trailer Insurance: This was discussed, similar to the insurance policies we have for our vehicles, with Shannons. It is believed that Shannons now do trailer insurance. Moved: Paul Andrews… Seconded: Malcolm Strahan… That Shannons will be in attendance at the Swapmeet. That they be approached regarding insurance on the Club Car Trailer. Carried *Holden Signs in Shed: What are the future plans for them? Not for sale at this point. Members need to be involved as the Club is cleaned/dressed up, then any items in excess to Club needs can be made available first to Club Members, then there is next year’s Swapmeet.

*Swapmeet: General discussion on various aspects of Swapmeet tomorrow. Such as Oval parking – 4 or 5 needed, with radios. Others needed for the Buyer’s parking area to try & keep the parking more uniform/compact. Using the new dot system for Sellers. No dot, no entry on Oval unless obvious display vehicle. A general re-visit to check all in place. There being no further business the meeting closed at 2.40pm. Presidents Report What a great swap meet we had this year, I am led to believe that we exceeded last years takings. I wish to thank the members who selflessly gave up their Saturday and from very early on Sunday morning until well into the afternoon. If any members have either positive or negative comments from our efforts on the day, please let the committee know, as continuous improvement is the best way of making our swap meet the best and safest possible. Since our last meeting, Sylvia, Barry and myself have meet with the shire representative responsible for our lease. The outcome of the meeting was, that the shire representative will investigate what maintenance is planned for the club house and hopefully a time frame for the works. Regards Muz

My 1946 KB3 International truck

I bought the KB3 in April 2013 and was going to do a bit of a tidy up on it as it was in very

good condition after the Miller family of Dowerin, who had owned from new, had refurbished it in 1997.

BUT as we know, once we start one thing leads to another and it finished up bear metal

rebuild (some what over budget !! ) with a full motor and body and wiring (12v) rebuild. Still have a few bits too do, which may continue and continue !

Murray Sumpton

The day I bought it. April 2013

Ready to drive again. November 2014.
