General Business: *Recreation Centre – reported to have an addition of a swimming pool in 2019. Concern expressed by Peter Prytulak as to how entry to pool will be managed during Events such as our Swapmeet held on Oval areas. At some of our Swapmeets over the years other Events have been on the same day, we have coped with the situation, and the entry to the new pool has not been defined. *Items in the Shed – Peter sees the need for a busy bee to clear the Shed of items that either don’t belong or are surplus to need. Also the remaining back windows need the mesh affixed. It was pointed out that many of the items in the Shed belonged in the Clubrooms, stored in the Shed whilst the re-stumping of the Clubroom floors took place. Once these items are removed the Shed can then be put more in order. There has been no confirmation from the Shire if or when the remedial work in the ‘Display room’ is to go ahead. This work needs to be attended to before we can have the room painted. *Club owned building- Peter advised he felt and had ‘looked into’ the Club purchasing a 3 bedroom house and move the Shed. This could be managed by a Caretaker and the rooms utilised by Members who travelled to meetings etc. Members expressed their beliefs that this would not be an option. Besides the expense of such an exercise there was the ongoing high overheads. AVVVA had researched that avenue 20yrs or more ago. Clubs that have their own premises are struggling and not happy with their present situation. It has caused problems and split Member-ship of Clubs drastically in the past and present, and would have had the same result with our Club years ago. *Busy Bee after the meeting- was discussed and what needed to be done. Nobody really available today. Ed Fawkes suggested the next Sat., 2nd Sept, 9am, cleaning up instruments in hand. This was accepted. *Raffle – Peter again talked about the raffle, wanting to thank the sponsors with flyers and announcements etc. That he has a printer of the tickets and has to have them printed correctly. He was advised that we need to know the legal procedure to follow, including more detail of the prizes. No clarification for this or other items of discussion were given by Peter. After he left the Meeting a question from the floor (through the Chair) was asked- what was the coupon etc all about. As far as possible an understanding of the situation was given by the Committee. *On The Road- Bruce Sharman on the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Wish Bruce ‘good luck’ for trip. *Christmas Lunch- Much interest in this. More details next month. Suggestion of using a bus from Northam. *Membership- Fees are well in hand. Approximately 8 in arrears. Letters to be sent to Members still remaining unfinancial in September. There being no further business, meeting closed at 11.40am. Next Meeting Sat. September 16th -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Motor Enthusiast

After the success of the Avon Valley Classic Rally in 2013, 2014 and 2015, we decided to make this a bi-annual event. We are now planning the 2017 event for Sunday 8th October.

This year as in the past we are holding three rallies in one with the first vehicles leaving Avon Park at 9 am. Veteran, vintages and tractors will travel again various distances, the difference is that while all these classes will start and finish at the same time, the tractors will deviate onto their own route, including gravel roads, bush tracks and hopefully a water crossing, re-joining the veteran and vintage vehicles for a fun event before lunch. Vintage, veteran and the tractors will each be competing in their own categories and separate trophies will be presented.

The modern classic vehicles and sports cars will cover approximately 100 kms on new and scenic roads taking in even more of the picturesque Avon Valley before joining for the fun event, luncheon and trophy presentations.

Registration will be essential for catering and organising purposes, registration forms will be distributed shortly, please contact [email protected] to receive a registration form.

We will be providing a complementary morning tea at the start in Avon Park (Lowe Street, York) for all participants and at the finish and a luncheon. Entry fee: $15 per vehicle and costs for luncheon (lunch costs to be confirmed).

The York Veteran Car Club Branch is looking forward seeing you at this year’s Avon Valley Classic Rally
