Birmingham City Council’s flagship annual recognition scheme is named after Joseph Chamberlain, one of Birmingham’s most distinguished civic leaders and is designed to recognise the extraordinary work or services provided by Birmingham City Council employees.
Are you aware of a person or team/project that has introduced new ways of working or supported change, saved money, time or other resources, brought together those with a common interest, or overcome adversity and found solutions to problems? Is there anyone in your team who has improved morale and motivation, shown professional bravery and challenged the status quo? Do your colleagues put in extraordinary effort, exceeding expectations? Are you part of a team/project that has delivered pioneering work that leads the way nationally, putting Birmingham on the map?

All staff nominations, regardless of category, will be judged against the following criteria:
1. We are all working to one goal, to make a positive difference every day to people’s lives. Please show how your nominee(s) is/are delivering the council’s priorities.
2. Please explain how your nomination reflects the council’s values: We put citizens first – we are empathetic and respectful in everything we do We act courageously – we lead, we manage and we tackle the difficult issues every day We are true to our word – we make promises and we keep them We achieve excellence – we strive to get things right first time, every time
3. The Chamberlain Awards celebrates innovation. Please explain how their work challenges conventions to achieve better results or creates solutions to improve the performance of their service. This may be in terms of saving money, producing better outcomes for citizens, simplifying a process or doing things differently using technology or latest thinking.
4. How successful was the work? Please focus on the measurable outcomes and provide clear evidence of the impact the work has made on the service area, to local residents or on improving relationships with external partners/organisations.
Please complete your submission as fully as possible taking care to provide specific detail which demonstrates how your nominee meets the requirements set out below. You should avoid bland statements such as ‘he/she is a real team player and is always helpful’ and please stay within the word limit.
