BACHELOR OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME
INTRODUCTION
Information Technology (IT) has an important role in our everyday life. It enables individuals and
organisations to gather, organise and analyse data quickly to assist them achieve their goals. IT can
be classified into three important categories: techniques for processing, the application of statistical
and mathematical methods to decision-making, and simulation of higher order thinking through
computer programs. The rapidly changing technologies in IT world requires IT professionals to adapt
themselves with these changes. Our programme is tailored to address these important aspects with
aspiration to equip graduates with a strong IT foundation and practical skills. Bachelor of Information
Technology programme is broad-based with main emphasis on two tracks: Industrial Informatics and
Information Science. Graduates of the programme can explore various career opportunities such as
information/systems design analysts, IT developer for manufacturing, production and computing
industries, as a data scientist, programmer and consultant.
OBJECTIVES
This programme aims to produce graduates equipped with the following qualities:
Possess knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories related to IT.
Able to think critically and analytically using knowledge, principles and skills in IT to solve problems.
Demonstrate the ability to design, implement, manage IT solutions and resources as well as the
impact of IT on society and organization.
Possess the required skills to integrate various IT solutions.
IT professionals who are ethical, competitive, and efficient.
Have the skills to gather knowledge through lifelong learning and research for carier development.
Demonstrate entrepreneurship skills and possess broad real world perspectives in IT business

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the Bachelor of Information Technology Programme, graduates are able to:
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories related to IT.
Apply suitable methodology, model and techniques to analyse, design, develop, test, evaluate,
and monitor software development of IT applications.
Utilize relevant techniques and demonstrate analytical and critical thinking skills in problem solving.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with peers, clients, superiors and society at large.
Demonstrate social professionalism and responsibility in applying theoretical principles in developing IT applications.
Apply skills and principles of lifelong learning in academic and career development.
Apply broad business and real world perspectives daily and demonstrate managerial and entrepreneurial skills.
Demonstrate professionalism and social and ethical considerations in accordance with ethical
and legal principles.
Demonstrate teamwork and leadership effectively with peers, clients, superiors and society at large.
