M�y father died in 1980 and I was very depressed and didn’t care about�my future.� In 1982 I was sentenced to 3 years in Federal Prison for making�birth certificates for Mexicans not able to work or live in this country. I�‘just thought’ I didn’t care about my future until I ended up behind prison�walls. I lost my paint and body shop I had at the time. I lost everything. I�became #12605-077 and it changed my life forever.�

After prison, I was afraid but I tried to get a job. Nobody would�hire an ex convict and it was very frustrating. I was hungry and deter-�mined never to be sent back to prison no matter how hard a struggle it�was to stay free. I met a man who took me under his wing and taught�me how to print shirts. Because he taught me I have taught others to�take their art, print shirts and many other products in order to show the�world the natural talent of persons society never gave a chance. In�1994 Bajito Onda became a legit 501c3 Federal Exempt charity. It all�started in a small shack in my backyard in Oak Cliff Section of Dallas.�

I have and always will REPRESENT the excluded in society.�The rich cultures that are passed over or shut out of mainstream be-�cause they speak another language or because they carry the burden�of being labeled as minority. �

I was born, with white skin - but I have been blessed with a�Brown heart ‘Cora Café’ as well as the rich Chicano culture which I�have adopted as my own many decades ago.�

Bajito Onda is an alternative society of persons reaching out to others�and empowering them through mentoring education and wisdom passing�from hand to hand, heart to heart and mind to mind - the old fashioned�way.� Over twenty-five years of working in the trenches of violence alongside�thousands of bangers and ex convicts, users and abusers, sent to do�community service at Bajito Onda in Old Deep East Dallas our lives�changed for the better. We became friends and the Bajito Onda family be-�gan to grow. Many homies had great talent but no money so they would�kick out some fabulous art and donate it to BO for my labors in the hard�ass struggle to survive the streets. They wanted to see me continue help-�ing others who were coming up in life and needing guidance. Only some-�one who had been where I had been would take the hours to sit down and�talk it through with them. We bonded like glue. We were there for each�other. I am not an artist – all art is done by members of the BO family over�the past 25 years and more coming in all the time.�
