INGREDIENTS
150g finely chopped walnuts
20 sheets filo pastry (one pack)
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
100g of unsalted butter
A small pot for melting butter
Baking brush
Baking tray preferably 5cm+ depth
DIRECTIONS (A)
Pre-heat oven to 180°C
Melt butter until light brown
Brush bottom of tray with some melted butter
Lay first later of filo pastry
Brush some melted butter onto filo pastry
Lay second sheet of filo pastry
Repeat this till 10 sheets of filo pastry is used
DIRECTIONS (B)
Spread chopped walnut on 10th piece of filo pastry
Lay 11th layer of filo pastry, brush butter onto it
Lay 12th later of filo pastry, butter onto it
Repeat till 20 layers of filo pastry is used (butter brushed as
well)
Cut pre-baked Baklava into 3x3cm grids
Place into oven for 20-30 min until golden brown
DIRECTIONS (C)
Prepare sugar syrup: 1 cup sugar to 1 cup water
Boil till all sugar dissolves & viscous sugar syrup is obtained
Pour sugar syrup over golden brown tray of Baklava (it
sizzles!)
