The Lady Aces are ranked inthe top 25 for a reason as theystormed back to capture the 25-11win. They went on to lose in theChampionship game against the #6ranked team in the entire state in St.Henry. Both teams that defeatedthe Lady Bombers advanced to theFinal 4 as Whitfield Academy wasknocked off by St. Henry as well intheir Final 4 match up.

For her performance in the tour-nament, senior Cydnie Wigginsearned an All Tournament team se-lection for the Lady Bombers. Sheled the team in the four games fin-ishing with 36 kills and 11 digs.Elizabeth Goodin had a strongtournament as well with 34 kills, 7blocks and 6 digs. Taylor Fosterled the team is digs with 15 andadded 11 kills in the tournament

while Jade Tilford had 67 assists tolead the team.

“Our fans played a huge role inour success at the All A region aswell as All A state at Jefferson-town. In both tournaments, weclearly had more fans than anyother team. Our crowd is like hav-ing an extra player on the court.”said Coach Adam Solomon. The21-4 record has the Lady Bombersexcited and confident heading intothe final weeks of the regular sea-son. “I think this experience willdefinitely help us going into dis-tricts and regionals as we are look-ing to capture our firstchampionship in both”, saidSolomon adding, “We were reallytested this weekend. The stiff com-petition forces us to play better andshed light on areas of growth andimprovement.”

The Lady Bombers now turntheir attention to the remainder ofthe season as they host TriggCounty on Monday the 17th andthen compete in the Quad StateTournament at the Regional SportsPlex in Paducah this weekend.“We learned that we obviously be-longed up there and we learned thatwhen we work together and give

100%, we can accomplish somuch.” added Solomon. Thisteam could realistically reach the30 win mark on the season andhave an excellent opportunity toprovide regional favorites LoneOak a run for their money in the re-gional tournament coming up inOctober.

Lady Bombers make Elite 8 in first ever All A State Tournament

The Lady Bombers came off theline with great force as goalkeeperMallie Myers made a save withinjust over 2 minutes into the game.Senior fullback Abigail Hobbsthen sank the ball into the goal,thereby making the LadyBomber’s first goal at about threeminutes into the game.

The Lady Lyons were also outin full force as they scored a goalwithin four minutes into the game.The Lady Lyons made other at-tempts to score, including one shotfrom across the field, but LadyBomber goalkeeper Mallie Myersstood her ground and didn’t allowany balls to go into the net.

The Lady Bombers went on toplay aggressively during the 1sthalf; although, they were unable tomake any more goals. Junior at-tacking midfielder Millicent Greentook a shot on goal shortly afterthe Lady Lyons scored, but it wasno good. Later, Green took an-

took a shot on goal, but the LadyLyons’ goalkeeper kept it fromgoing in the goal. Junior mid-fielder Lyndsey Grief had twoshots on goal, but they, too, didn’thit the target to score for the LadyBombers.

Senior fullback Abigail Hobbscontinued with her determinationto score another goal for the LadyBombers with three more attemptsin the first half, but she was unableto land the ball in the goal to scorefor Ballard Memorial.

The second half saw neitherteam scoring for the first ten min-utes. Lindsey Grief then took thefirst goal of the 2nd half, puttingthe Lady Bombers ahead at 2-1.Millicent Green took two shots ongoal, but they were both blocked.About halfway through the secondhalf, Abigail Hobbs scored anothergoal for the Lady Bombers, givingthem the lead at 3-1. Shortlythereafter, with about sixteen min-

utes to go in the game, officialscalled the game on account of nothaving sufficient light to continue.

Lady Bombers take win over Lyon County

Tuesday night’s game againstCommunity Christian Academy(CCA) brought out BallardMemorial’s determination as theBombers tried to tackle the War-riors for a win after a loss to themon September 8th. Although it hadbeen a little over a week since the

Bombers last competed against theWarriors, this was definitely notthe same game. The Warriorswere not going to walk away witha complete shutout this timearound.

Within six minutes into thegame, CCA took a shot on goal,but Bomber goalkeeper Josh Mosskept it from going into the goal.

This was followed by a pass fromFreshman forward/midfielderTheerapat “Nice” Watsamrong toSophomore fullback/midfielderMichael Waldon, who passed it toSophomore midfielder DevinGriffin, but Griffin lost control ofthe ball, and it went out. The 1sthalf saw the Bombers continue toshow good communication andteamwork. Junior forward/mid-fielder Clayton Walker made agood pass to Sophomore mid-fielder Brennan “Bubba” Neeley,but Neeley was unable to get aclean shot. Junior fullback/mid-fielder Alex Maples threw the ballin to Watsamrong, but Watsam-rong’s shot on goal came short ofhitting its mark. This kind of com-munication continued as AlexMaples passed it to Junior mid-fielder Weston Gordon, but Gor-don’s shot was, also, no good.

Despite the efforts of Sopho-more midfielder Evan Lawrence,

Clayton Walker, and Sophomorefullback Colton Tremblay as theyall three took shots on goal, theBombers were unable to score inthe first half. The half ended withneither team scoring.

The second half had both teamstaking shots, with neither of themscoring. This competitive playcontinued until CCA scoredtwenty-three minutes into the half.This was quickly followed byFreshman midfielder Darren Taborscoring with an assist by EvanLawrence for the Bombers. Withthe scored tied at 1-1, the Bomberstripped a Warrior in the box, giv-ing their opponent a penalty kickthat put the game at 2-1. TheBombers made a few more at-tempts to even the score within thelast few minutes of the game, buttheir efforts were unsuccessful.The Bombers lost to the Warriors1-2.
