Bambu Infinity Scarf This cozy infinity scarf is a quick knit. What makes it special is the lovely yarn from Turkey, made from bamboo, wool, and acrylic. “Bambu” is the Turkish word for “Bamboo”. Materials 1 skein Universal Yarn Bamboo Bloom Handpaints Size 15 29” circular needle 1 stitch marker Gauge 8 sts = 4 inches in garter stitch Instructions Loosely cast on 100 stitches. (If you use the long-tail cast on method, you’ll need a tail about 3 yards long.) Join into a round, being careful not to twist stitches. (See “Tip for preventing a gap when joining stitches into a round.”) Place marker. Round 1: Knit Round 2: Purl Repeat these two rounds 15 times. You’ll have 15 ridges. Cast off using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off. (See instructions at http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall09/FEATjssbo.php). A very loose bind off method is critical. I’m not kidding. Weave in the ends, place it around your neck twice, and enjoy! Tip for preventing a gap when joining stitches into a round: After you have cast on and made sure your stitches aren’t twisted, but before you place a marker, swap the first and last stitches to prevent a gap from forming: 1. Slip the first stitch on the right needle to the left needle. 2. Slip the second stitch on the left needle up and over the first stitch and onto the right needle. 3. Place a stitch marker on the right needle to indicate the beginning of the round. 4. Start knitting! All Photos and Content © 2014 by Karen Catlin. All rights reserved. Questions, comments?
