Young Life was founded in 1941 by Jim Rayburn, a church youth leader and recent seminary graduate.

He began a weekly club for kids where there was singing, skits and a simple message about Jesus.

Know???In 1960, Jim Rayburn met with Vice President Richard Nixon to talk about Young Life. Nixon asked if he could help and readily agreed to a letter of endorsement for assembly speeches at local high schools.

Know???Broadway leaders pick up students on the West Virginia line for club, over 1 HR and 10 min from campus.
During the 1938-39 school year, Jim Rayburn started an after-school meeting called “The Miracle Book Club.” Attendance grew steadily.

In 1940, the Club moved from the afternoon to the evening and from the high school to kids’ homes.
