The missionaries are asked to fundraise in order to cover the cost of food and housing expenses. Maggie, Harrison, and Zachary are aiming to raise $2,500 each. The addition of back speakers helped considerably. The final phase of system enhancements will be the removal of the large speakers in front and on the columns, replaced with smaller more powerful speakers positioned higher in less noticeable locations. Testing new configurations started last week. We will keep you updated on our progress. We are excited to bring you these updates and we welcome suggestions for facilities improvement. Please contact George Harvey at [email protected].

USHERS NEEDED! St. Matthew is in need of more ushers for certain Masses. Our priests rely heavily on the ushers to make all parishioners and visitors feel welcome, to administer the collection and also pitch in when extra duties are necessary. It is time for our community to embrace the gifts we’ve been given and we can’t wait to see how God provides for these specific needs. Attendees are invited to sign up for a time to visit the Bishop James A. Griffin Student Center between 4:00-7:00 p.m. The Griffin Student Center is located on ODU’s campus at 1215 Sunbury Road, Columbus, Ohio 43219. PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN SAFE ENVIRONMENT SEMINAR – The Diocesan Safe Environment Compliance program requires that for an adult to interact with minors at the school/church, he/she must meet three requirements: attend a Protecting God’s Children class; have a background check performed and complete the code of conduct (attached to the volunteer application). The next Protecting God's Children class that St. Matthew will be hosting is Wednesday, September 18 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the St. Anthony Room. As a convenience, Fast Fingerprints (a third party) will be on site from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to do background checks before the class starts. The background checks will stop once the class starts so if you want to have your background check done that day, please plan to come early. The line can get pretty long. If you have already taken the PGC class and just need to have the fingerprinting done, please feel free to come to just the background check part. To register for the class, please visit https://www.stmatthew.net/protecting-gods-children.
