I am especially excited to welcome our grade 7s to the school this year, as we begin our very first year as a Grade 7-12 school. Welcome everyone! I am pleased to announce that Mr. McVittie is joining us this year again as Vice Principal of Barriere Secondary - this time on a permanent basis. Please drop by the office to say hello when you get a chance. Over the summer our staff have worked very hard to prepare the school for September start-up. In addition to our normal preparations, the school has had a complete electrical upgrade which, although somewhat disruptive over the summer, will be great now that it's finished. Thanks to all our staff, especially Mrs. Luison, Mrs. Gartner and Mr. McVittie, for their very hard work these last two weeks of the summer to ensure the school is ready for our students. We have many familiar faces this year at Barriere Secondary, as well as a few new ones. I would like to welcome Ms. Plummer, our new counsellor, who joins us from Dawson Creek. Mr. Connor (Math), Mr. Massey (Science/Math), Ms. Cruz (Grade 7/8) and Ms. Sabyan (CEA) are new to our staff this year as well, so please join me in making them feel welcome. We are still in the process of hiring two teaching positions at Barriere Secondary over the next week, so I look forward to introducing those teachers to students once they have been determined. I hope everyone has had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer break. I know that I speak for all the staff when I say I am looking forward to an engaging, productive and exciting year of learning alongside your students this year. Thank you to everyone for your support of your children in their learning, and for all you do to make Barriere Secondary such a great place to work and learn in our community. Welcome back everyone!
