Welcome back to Term 3

The term has started and already the whole school is extremely busy. We

started with a special Sport’s Assembly in honour of Mrs Vicki Dodd, many

students were recognised for their participation in swimming and athletics

carnivals and also the cross country. We are impressed with the amount

of students who participate and display sportsmanship and

encouragement to others when competing.

Some of our primary and high school students participated in the Mount Selwyn ski trip and had a

fantastic day on the slopes. Congratulations to all students who displayed resilience whilst learning

to ski for the first time, it is not easy and by all accounts from our teachers all students thoroughly

enjoyed their day and represented our school with pride and wonderful behaviour.

Year Advisers are busy planning the stage excursions that will be occurring in Term 4, these trips

involve an enormous amount of scheduling for all staff and notes will be going home soon to

enable parents to forward plan for this activity.

Once again we have had a careers talk delivered to high school students from Snowy Valleys

Council, students were exposed to all facets of council, the careers involved and opportunities that

are offered by the council. Mr Kass will be following through with opportunities for our students to

become involved with Snowy Valleys Council.

This week is Education Week and all students have been involved in various activities school

wide, I have visited all primary classes this week and have enjoyed being involved in the learning

that is occurring in all classes, debating occurred yesterday against Tumut High School with Mrs

Gorman adjudicating, our students again displayed teamwork when preparing for the debate and

are to be congratulated on their maturity and eagerness to be involved in this learning experience.

Thank you to Ms Beattie for arranging the debate and all teachers and students involved.

Parent/Teacher evening took place on Tuesday, this was an opportunity for parents to discuss

their children’s schooling and meet new teachers in our school. We appreciate that not all parents

are able to make this evening and if you would like to arrange an appointment please call the

office and they will assist you.

Wednesday 21 August at 5.30 pm in the Learning Hub there will be an information evening for

parents and adult community member on social media and the different types of technology that

our students have access to in their personal lives. Senior Constable Troy Fisher will be running

the evening so please come along and be informed about the technology and media that our

students are using and have available to them.

I would like to welcome Ms Aleisha Singleton and Ms Eliza Robertson to our school in the primary

department, they are both welcome additions to our teaching staff and are getting to know all of

our students. If you did not have the opportunity to meet them at Parent/Teacher evening please

call the office for further assistance if required.

We look forward to another busy term of learning and seeing parents at our Book Fair Parade

during Week 5, further information will be sent home.

Dear Parent RE: NATIONALLY CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA ON SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH DISABILITY (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provide about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

year if schooling

category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional

level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools

consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools

develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provided data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about this matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy.

Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal https://www.nccd.edu.au.

If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the school. Yours sincerely
