What STOPS us?
HERE
THERETAKEACTION
OverwhelmOut of ControlUncomfortable
FEAR
In caveman days
we needed fear to
keep us from
getting killed by
everything!
Now we fear losing face:
being inadequate (not
good enough) and being
rejected (not being loved).

So what do we do NOW?Many PROCRASTINATE!PRO
CRASTINATION
Procrastination= put forward to tomorrow
A DECISION
OF ACTION!

Benefits: Pleasure
What’s good about Procrastination?
• do things that make us feel in control
• do things for which we know the rules
• do things in which we are clear of the outcome
• do things in which we can reduce our feeling of helplessness or
uncertainty and increase a feeling of certainty
• as such we feel better…
• … even though we have not produced the desired result…

Consequences: Pain
What’s bad about Procrastination?
• we do things that distract us from our goals
• we do things that are unprofitable, unproductive and waste time
• we do things that reduce time & thus increase time-stress
• we stop ourselves from overcoming the challenge
• we stop ourselves from growing by facing uncertainty
• we hold ourselves back, leading to failure, guilt & self-loathing
•we convince ourselves that what we are doing is important or
necessary when it isn’t, perpetuating a lie to defend the ego
• we fail to produce the desired result…
