Named after the astronaut Virgil 'Gus' Grissom,the second American to fly in space.

football, cheerleading, golf, soccer,swimming, tennis and wrestling.

It ranks as one of the top 10 schoolsanywhere in Alabama.

Teacher to student ratio is 17:1.The large number of students

obviously isn't an issue.

It's home to 1,900 students and cateredfor by 106 full-time teachers, with

reading and math scores of 96% and97% respectively.

The JROTC battalion here is one of thebest known in the state and is popular

with students, too.

These aren't the only high schools in Huntsville,but they are ranked as some of the very best
