We have yet again celebrated the birth of our Savior, the great light that has come into our world. So how was your Christmas this year? Was it full of good times with family and friends? I am sure most of you are still recovering from large meals and visiting relatives. For some, however, this holiday was not a happy time. Many of us had mixed feelings during the Christ- mas season. There was some joy, but also sadness for those who are no longer with us, or for a Christmas that did not meet our expectations. Many this year likely had less under the tree than the year before. This mixture of joy and sadness is to be expected. We must remember that the season leading up to Christmas, Advent, was one of longing for change and longing to be freed from all that binds us. Jesus was the light that came into the dark- ness, and although Jesus was that light, there was also the “darkness” that cannot be ignored. We are saved in Christ and have grace given freely by God, but this does not mean that every difficulty and dark area of our life goes away in- stantly. Accepting God’s grace is often a process that can take time. Even Jesus the son of God was accepted by the world over time and not instantly. This is part of human na- ture, but the good news is that freedom is there if we want it. Christmas and our salvation is sometimes like opening a pre- sent where we instantly have what we long to be, but more often it is like decorating the Christmas tree. It is a process where little bits get added day by day, and over a period of time we become the fully decorated tree, the beautiful art- work of God’s creation. Sometime a light bulb might go out, or an ornament might fall off, but we strive to be better none the less. So as we continue into this new year, as we move on from the Christmas season, let us remember that the in- carnation of God was not just a one day event. The spirit of Christmas is something that we must hold onto for the whole year and our entire lives. The light has finally come, but how will you use it? I hope you use it to step into what God has called you to do. I hope you use it to share and spread the love of God. I hope you use it to overcome the darkness of the world. Let us hope together this new year, and look for a beauty that is not yet seen but possible together in Christ. THE PASTOR’S PEACE Advent is over and Christmas has come, alleluia. We have yet again celebrated the birth of our Savior, the great light that has come into our world. So how was your Christmas this year? Was it full of good times with family and friends? I am sure most of you are still recovering from large meals and visiting relatives. For some, however, this holiday was not a happy time. Many of us had mixed feelings during the Christ-mas season. Jesus was the light that came into the dark-ness, and although Jesus was that light, there was also the “darkness” that cannot be ignored. We are saved in Christ and have grace given freely by God, but this does not mean that every difficulty and dark area of our life goes away in-stantly. Accepting God’s grace is often a process that can take time. Even Jesus the son of God was accepted by the world over time and not instantly. This is part of human na-ture, but the good news is that freedom is there if we want it. Christmas and our salvation is sometimes like opening a pre-sent where we instantly have what we long to be, but more often it is like decorating the Christmas tree. It is a process where little bits get added day by day, and over a period of time we become the fully decorated tree, the beautiful art-work of God’s creation. Notes:

Welcomers act as church host providing visitors with directions and help to the nursery,

restrooms, etc... Ushers help with bulletins, greeting, and offering. Welcomers/Ushers responsibility sheet is posted behind

the foyer door on the bulletin board. Questions may be directed to Pastor Brian or Jeannette

Papajcik. Lay reader sign-up sheets are passed around during the year or you may sign up on the

bulletin board. Altar flowers sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board in the sound/coatroom. Cost is $20.00. You

can pay for these by putting a marked envelope in the offering plate. After the church service, the

flowers are yours to take home or send to a shut in.

ADULT STUDY GROUP The adult study group will begin studying “Twelve Extraordinary Women” on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The first one begins on Tuesday, January 13th at 7:00 PM at the Papajcik’s. If you are interested in joining us, please let Jeannette know so we can order books. Thanks.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES FOR CHILDREN Our Sunday school has started with the new program. We now have classes during the church hour. The children stay in the worship service until the chil-dren’s moment has been completed, and then they all go to the upstairs class-rooms for their lessons. Bring all of your children to church. Nursery is still provided. We have a place for everyone.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL The Adult Sunday school class still meets in the lower level from 9:30 until 10:15

AM. Everyone is welcome to this Bible study led by Pastor Brian.

By Jeannette Papajcik

What a joy and what a special night! The kids did a super job of giving their gifts of music, drama and smiles to all. We had a great night in the Caribbean. Thank you to the kids for their efforts and many days of practices. You were and are AWESOME!! Thank you to Kristine Petrick for all her help with props, costumes and set up. Thank you to Bob and Eric Tobias for all of their help with the sound system and loading the narrative on the church laptop. Thank you to Bob Schoonover for his “surprise visit”. Thank you to Iryna Kar-pushyna for her piano accompaniment—and to Olena for her part in a piano duet. Thank you to Agnes Stanislo for making all of the gift bags that Santa filled for all of the children. Thank you to all of the parents for your support with getting your children to practices. And Many, Many thanks to Tom Rauls for all of his help. It is said that he is a cheese-head from Wisconsin – I think he’s really an angel from heaven. It takes a lot to make all of this work – I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support. Thanks to all of you.

Clothing Donations Clothing donations continue throughout the year. This time is especially a time for coats,

hats, gloves and outer wear. If you have any clothing to donate, you may bring it to the

church sound room in the back of the sanctuary. Tom Maloney will see that they get to the

homeless and needy families. Thank you, Tom.
