Becoming a Compass School A unique 4-day workshop at Green School Bali, Indonesia 6 th -9 th April 2012 Situated in the heart of the Balinese jungle lies the Green School, an inspiring, visionary and sustainable place of learning for the 21st century. Built entirely of bamboo and sustainable materials, the cathedral-like Heart of School is the highest freestanding bamboo structure in the world. The vision of Green School is of a world in which a respect for our planet and its inhabitants comes naturally to all graduates. Offering a natural, holistic learning environment that promotes leadership values alongside academic and life skills, the Green School aspires to build connections through environmental learning while educating young leaders in global citizenship. Co-facilitation of the Compass Workshop is provided through Green Camp Bali. Created in the early days of Green School’s first year, Green Camp has shared in the vision and development of programs aimed at engaging and inspiring youth and those young at heart from around the world. Green Camp’s residential Yurt Village site is situated less than 100m from the main campus yet it retains a sense of seclusion and autonomy. Guests enjoy a unique perspective on the day to day operation of the Green School while having access to the wide range of facilities and educational projects across the school campus. It's hard to imagine a more appropriate place to host a residential workshop on school-based sustainability. What you can expect from this workshop? The workshop will provide a complete understanding of the

vision, ideas and approach taken by sustainability education.

Clear explanation of what a Compass School is, as well as opportunity to experiment with the tools and approaches to see how it works as a whole school management tool or a classroom tool for integrated thinking.

Regardless of what type your school is, there are three nested systems at play – the classroom, the school and the community. You will explore how to implement systems theory and systems thinking approaches in such a way that invites learning and change at all three levels.

The AMOEBA is a user-friendly tool that helps people understand organizational and cultural change process, plan for the introduction of new ideas into organizational systems, or block undesirable changes.
