Php 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever

things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things

are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. The things which you learned

and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

The truth remains that there is endless potential in our lives!

“If there are people, there are problems, the “key” is to learn to see the potential!”

▪In our lesson tonight I would like for each of us to consider “raising our spirituality!”▪We are after all Christians, meaning that

we are to be “Chist-like” and all of us have room to grow!▪Why are we here tonight, what is our

purpose?

Mt 16:26 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his

own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

▪Here we find Jesus asking two rhetorical questions to make a vital point!▸If we gain the world and lose our soul, what do

we have? What is as valuable as our soul? The answer to both is “nothing!”▸Our souls are priceless, one soul is far greater

than all the world has to offer!–Lk. 15:7, 10 “over one sinner that repents!”

I. The Reason!▪Why are we here, what are we suppose to be

doing? What is our goal?▸Heb 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in

order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.▸1 Cor 9:25 And everyone who competes for the

prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

“The only thing needed for Satan to win is for God’s children to do nothing!”

▪We are here to combat the forces of evil!▸Jude 1:3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to

write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.▸Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh

and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

II. The Responsibility!A part of the Kingdom of Heaven!

▪Who are we ultimately responsible to?▸Eph 6:6 not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but

as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,▸Col 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive

the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

▪Ultimately God is our Master!▸Act 5:29 But Peter and the other apostles answered

and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men.”

III. The Reaction!This is likely the one that get us into the

most trouble!▪How many of us always respond as we

should? How many of us need to work on our re-action!▸Js 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let

every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger!”

–How often do we do this backwards!▪“People do better when they are taught better!”

Learn to be pro-active!

IV. The Result!▪I hope we have not lost sight of our

desire to become more spiritual minded in our pursuit of getting there!▪We have been working on “how do we

get there?”▪When we have properly understood and

applied our first three points, then & only then will we reach the right result!

Pr 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will

not depart from it.▪One truth we never want to forget is that all of

us are “children of God!”▪We must never lose sight of God’s training for

us!▸1 Pet 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure

milk of the word, that you may grow thereby!▸Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the

LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night

Conclusion:▪What is our spiritual temperature tonight?▪Have we been stirred up “to love and good

works?” (Heb. 10:25)▪Has our flame went out?▸Rev 3:16 "So then, because you are

lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”

▪Are you a Christian, have you had your sins forgiven and been set free?

▪If you are a Christian, are you growing?
