BECON is a global and cross-sector platform for collaboration, networking, explaining and advancing blockchain methodologies and solutions. The goal is to accelerate the growth of a sustainable ecosystem that drives the application and implementation of Blockchain in all private and public sectors.

SESSION 2 (day 2: 15.00 - 20.00)For which sectors are Distributed Ledger Technologies a Game Changer? The application of Blockchain in various domains (in both the private and public sectors) and the impact on industries and regulation.

We will learn the difference between Offi ce Suites and ERP software and Blockchain Protocols. What exactly do we expect to be immu-table, permanent on the distributed ledger? Facts & Figures of our Blockchain implementation. What are the costs? Are there different models? What about scalability? And is there a Magic Quadrant?Regarding Blockchain there are protocol variations: Which one suits us best? What goals are we to achieve? We will address ‘Permis-sioned’ vs ‘Open’ – ‘Inclusive’ vs ‘Exclusive’ – ‘Fuelled or tokenized’ vs ‘non token’. With Proof of Concept examples in various industries: healthcare, logistics, energy, insurance, music and entertainment. How are Blockchain applications different in private sectors from Public Sectors? How will the regulator deal with these new paradigms? What are the challenges ahead?

THIS MASTERCLASS AIMS TO DEMYSTIFY BLOCKCHAIN. THIS IS A STRATEGIC COURSE WHICH WILL PROVIDE INSIGHTS AND PRACTICAL KNOW-HOW NEEDED TO INITIATE AND MANAGE BLOCKCHAIN PROGRAMS WITHIN YOUR OWN TEAMS AND ORGANISATIONS. BLOCKCHAIN WILL IMPACT ALL INDUSTRIES. WITHIN THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO COPE WITH THIS INNOVATION AND LEARN HOW TO MANAGE BLOCKCHAIN EXPERIMENTS AND IMPLEMENTATIONS IN YOUR ORGANISATION. IN 4 SESSIONS YOU WILL LEARN WHAT BLOCKCHAIN MEANS TO YOUR ORGANISATION.

JAN BELON (The Netherlands)Jan is co-founder of design agency Afdeling Buitengewone Zaken. He graduated as MSc. Industrial Design at the TU Eindhoven. He has a passion for service design, startups and social innovation. As a designer, entrepreneur and researcher he co-founded several initiatives, such as IoT startup Openr and Just Things Foundation.

ALBERT CASTELLANA (Spain)Albert is a Blockchain expert with over 4 years of experience in the Blockchain industry. He is a council member on the NEM Blockchain Foundation and the president of Atraura Blockchain, a Blockchain consulting and development fi rm in Barcelona. Albert is also Vice-Dean of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Society of COEINF (Association of IT engineers in Catalunya).

CARLOS BARBERO STEINBLOCK (Spain) With a degree in Business Administration plus over 20 years of professional career holding fi nance positions in Fortune 500 companies, Carlos co-founded BTC-Guardian immediately after getting introduced to Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies early 2014. He co-organizes the Barcelona Bitcoin Community Meetups and has collaborated with universities, associations and companies to spread the Blockchain knowledge and philosophy.

VENKAT RAJU (India)Venkat has lived and worked in three continents and has run global teams. He is an alumnus of Boston University (Management & Business) and Indian Institute of Science (Electrical & Electronics Engineering), providing a deep domain expertise in several verticals. As a past Fortune 500 Operational Executive, a Silicon Valley Technology Entrepreneur, an active Angel Investor in technology companies, and advisor to Venture Capital fi rms & Funds, he brings a lot to the table.

SESSION 1 (day 1: 15.00 - 20.00)Blockchain Fundamentals What is blockchain technology - Why is it important - What impact does it have and what is possible?

Explanation of the historical context, the concept and functionality of Blockchain technology. An overview of different types of block-chains, their particular features and pros and cons in relation to different fi elds of applications (introducing the ‘blockchain decision table’).The Blockchain is the driver of a completely new software and business model paradigm that can be hard to understand due to the overwhelming amount of initiatives and information that can be found. In this session we will explore Blockchain Technology both as a concept and as a technology in order to fully understand its future potential. We will be reviewing the most commonly used Blockchain implementations, their core differences and learn when we should be using one or another depending on the use case.

SESSION 3 (day 3: 9.00 - 13.00) Applying and implementing Blockchain methodologies and technologies (Part I) How do I make a Blockchain? How and where can I deploy this in my organisation? How to identify real problems and approach them from different perspectives and angles?

Design Thinking is used to solve complex problems; beyond the traditional and linear logical cause-effect thinking. The Design Thinking approach leverages scenario thinking and a holistic view on your problems. In this session you will learn a framework to apply Design Thinking within your Blockchain experiments. It’s a new way of thinking for the boardroom, that enables companies to come up with breakthrough innovation. In a world where technological developments invade our business with a staggering pace, it is essential to assess the real added value to your company and consumer. Our approach uses experiments to iteratively explore this potential. At the end of this session, you will be able to fundamentally understand your target group’s everyday true needs, motivations and behaviours. You will be able to validate assumptions and transform them into insights through actionable experiments.

SESSION 4 (day 3: 13.00 - 17.00) Applying and implementing Blockchain methodologies and technologies (Part II) Prototyping smart contracts as an example; the DOs and DON’Ts of implementing Blockchain technology. The focus is on Practice. How do I make a Blockchain.

This session is based on the KrypCore platform, educating and empowering individuals and organisations to assess Blockchain applicability in their own real-life scenarios. Step-by-step you will learn how to translate nascent business use cases into a tangible blockchain-based prototype. This interactive methodology should train you to turn your own use cases into blockchain prototypes and Proof Of Concepts.Using the KrypCore Blockchain stack we will take a non-technical deep dive and look at Blockchain technology by analysing, assessing, interpreting and discussing various opportunities and hurdles in Blockchain adoption. The course will enable participants to get a better understanding of what is involved when designing services using Blockchain.
