Bedpost Confessions is a live, monthly show in Austin, Texas: smart, sexy stories and enticing entertainment: we curate a diverse array of writers, readers, actors, and more with performances about sex, sensuality, and the steamy side of life. Each show is filled with humor, intelligence, and talent while providing provocative ways of looking at sex and relationships. Sadie Smythe!is a writer, a memoir author, an advocate for sexual freedom and a single mother of a teenage daughter. Sadie holds degree in psychology, speaks on the subject of sober sex, and consults with couples in open relationships. She is a fierce advocate for people designing relationships that are right for them, irrespective of what others’ expectations are.

Julie Gillis!is a coach, writer, and producer focused on social justice, sex, and spirituality. She is dedicated to sexual freedom and education, equality for the LGBTQ community, and ending sexual violence against women and men. Julie's work focuses on the  intersection of social justice and

community and she intuitively helps people live their fullest lives, navigating terrain from relationships to sex education.

Mia Martina!is a writer, podcaster, and producer. Aside from the Library of Congress indexing her tweets, Mia's writing can be found on her "I Want Your Sex" podcast, Nerve, Fearless Press, and in her memoir “A Year of Sex: tales of New York City's erotic underground.” She has taught workshops on non-monogamy and loves getting feedback about people taking bold steps in their sexuality, whatever that means for them.

To uphold the three pillars upon which BedPost Confessions was founded – Entertainment, Education, and Ethics. Sexuality in our culture is still – in many ways – in the closet.

While images and content can oftentimes seem sexualized, these themes are not always actually communicated about, talked about or understood. • What makes BedPost Confessions special? We believe that our performers’ stories have important impact and that relating to a story being told (or simply learning a new perspective) holds great value for people. But the grand highlight? That is definitely the anonymous audience confessions, which serve to unify the audience, creating a community that exists nowhere else.

• Is there is nudity or sex on stage? All of the storytellers are fully clothed. Most people are reading their stories so there is no acting out of experiences apart from the occasional pantomiming. The show is interpreted for the deaf by a talented group of ASL interpreters, which creates inspiring visuals for the audience! However, we think words are pretty powerful all by themselves.

• Do you have to be into some strange sex stuff to like BPC? We think everyone can get something out of BedPost Confessions. Our audience is very diverse - LGBQT, monogamous, polyamorous, married with kids, single, divorced, artists; you name the folks, we cater to them! The fantastic thing about BPC is that just about everyone has some kind of sex, so there is value for everyone.

• Who performs at BedPost Confessions and how? All sorts of people perform with us, and we the producers share our stories as well. We audition all of our artists, because we want to make sure folks are comfortable on stage. It is one thing to be a performer, and another thing for someone to perform while sharing some of their most intimate stories. They find us online or we seek them out through the community. We carefully review each piece and if it is decided that it is a good fit, they are auditioned, coached and booked for an upcoming show.
