The Gym’s Fashion Gyms are now sport centers where people exercise. Today, people do not only lift weights or work with machines in the gyms. There are other sports like dancing, aerobics, taebo, and martial arts. But, the main purpose of the gyms is to shape the body so women stay attractive, men lose weight, and young people meet friends.

Marketing involves sport gear, dumbbells, ropes, machines, training videos, books and magazines.

Indeed, people are well informed about fitness today. To come to a gym is not only to be in shape, but to learn something about ourselves. In order to attract the busy businessman, the workers and shy people, gyms provide the service of personal trainers, who are well skilled instructors who teach at home. Gyms are a trend every summer, but for other people is a life.

DIEGO IN FINLAND

My name is Diego Maradona and I play football. I’m from Argentina. It’s the tenth time, I’m starting all over again. I had problems with drugs, I came to Finland to join in Kontu football team. Kontu plays in third or fourth division at our national league.

I can’t speak Finnish nor write it, so I have an interpreter with me whose name is Kata Fabritius.

I am walking with her in the center of Helsinki. It’s awfully crowded here.

My good buddy John Jones is with us, too. He is a lousy ski jumper.

He heard that the Finns are excellent sportsmen.

So he came to Finland to practice ski jumping. I have been in Sweden and Russia but they weren’t very good.

4LESSON WOMEN WILL

GO SHOPPING

MALLS, MARKET PLACES, AND SHOPPING CENTERS

Shopping is a great business in the U.S.A. In Miami there are names like Dadeland Mall, Miami International Mall, Florida Mall, and Sunset Place.

These Shopping Centers offer many facilities for customers like cafeterias, restaurants, games for children, security guards inside and outside the Mall, and some are located near the main hotels.

Shopping is aimed in South America to people of a high standard of living, so there are luxurious buildings which offer international brands from a variety of products.

Shopping is mainly directed to women, so shops sell fragrances, colognes, purses, shoes, beauty and health care products, and dresses.

Since women don’t like to carry so much money with them, the shops receive checks, and accept many kinds of credit cards.

THE DRAMATIC LANDSCAPE OF THE SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS

READING COMPREHENSION

In your journey through Peru, you’ll visit the ancient lands of the Children of the Sun, exploring massive ruins, age-old villages and spellbinding landscapes in the Sacred Valley.

The mysterious Machu Pichu is the famous Lost City of the Incas where a whole family can explore ancient Inca ruins, meet Quechuan weavers practicing their age-old craft, and marvel at the dramatic landscape of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, also experience local culture and crafts in Peru’s friendly villages.

Machu Pichu (at about 2300 meters) is about 1000 meters lower than Cuzco. Guides offer a walking tour to the stone city. There are some terracing surrounding the stone structures.

The landscape behind the ruins shows two mountains : Huayna Pichu or ‘young mountain’ and Machu Pichu or ‘old mountain’ in ancient Quechua. Tourists go to the city of Cuzco after visiting Machu Pichu to enjoy the entertainment activities of places like discos, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, and theaters that show folkloric songs and typical dances.
