Positive Behavioral Intervention Support

• A collaborative, assessment-based process to developing effective interventions for problem behavior based on school wide behavior data

• Emphasizes the use of proactive, educative, and reinforcement-based strategies to achieve meaningful and durable behavior and lifestyle outcomes

• Aim is to build functional, effective environments in which appropriate behavior is more effective than problem behavior

Based on identification of the harm done by an

offender to a specific victim or the larger community. Process that involves a facilitated discussion

between the offender and victim to identify issues created by the situation.

Process identifies the needs of the victim as well as the motivating factors of the offender.

Can be expanded to classroom meetings to maintain a positive environment.

Teachers, counselors, administrators are trained in facilitation skills.
