Safeguarding Soldier Health:The Post-Deployment Health Reassessment

(PDHRA)

For Additional Resourceshttp://hp.osd.mil/pdhraino

To saeguard the health and well-being o all  Soldiers, the U.S. Army implemented the Post-Deployment Health Reassessment, or PDHRA,in January 2006. A Commander’s Program, the PDHRA gives Soldiers an opportunity to address any health concerns that may emerge ollowing redeployment. It is available to all Soldiers --

Active and Reserve Component -- who have returned rom combat.

Returning home and settling back into a routinecan be lled with excitement and discovery.oldiers may start acing health concerns that they may not have noticed beore.

Te Reason or PDHRA Research shows that identiying these healthconcerns as soon as possible strongly impacts thelong-term health and well-being o oldiers andtheir Families. he Army wants to help oldiersaddress their health concerns beore they developinto more serious problems.

How to Completethe PDHRA

oldiers who have returned rom a combat deploy-ment since March 0, 2005, must complete theDRA. n most cases, the DRA takes place90 to 80 days ater redeployment. Commanders will notiy oldiers to participate in the DRA process, and oldiers can log on to Army Knowl-edge nline to check their DRA status under“My Medical Readiness.”

o completed the DRA, oldiers ll out DDForm 2900 and speak one-on-one with a healthcare provider. he health care provider will reeroldiers or urther evaluation and treatment,i necessary. Most oldiers will complete theDRA as part o a unit-scheduled event, through an appointment, or on a walk-in basis.
