theywererestaurateurs.

Skippedfromschooltoschool,spendingonlyoneyearatWilliamFlemingHighSchool,fromwhichhegraduatedin

1988.

Neverparticipatedinanyschoolclubsorsports.

FirstattendedBarstowCommunityCollegeinCalifornia,thenattendedVirginiaWesternCommunityCollegefrom

1990

1992,

graduating

with

an

associates

degree.

GraduatedfromVirginiaTechwithaBSinbiochemistryin1997.WasamemberofROTC.Reportedlyreceivedgood

grades.

Obtainedaconcealed

weapon

permit

in

1996.

2oftheapproximately20emailsHasansenttoAwlaki.

concluded

that

Hasan

was

working

at

the

Walter

Reed

ArmyMedicalCenteratthetimetheemailsweresentandthecontentappeared

tobeconsistentwiththeresearchhewasconducting.TheSanDiegofieldoffice

didnotforwardadditionalinformationonHasantheyhadpickedupaftersending

theoriginalfile.

FBIfilesarereportedtohavecontainedinformationthatHasansoughttoprosecutesomepatientsforwarcrimes

heclaimedtheyhadconfessedto

duringcounselingafterreturningfromIraqandAfghanistan.

Itisuncertain,however,whethertheFBIwouldhavecometoadifferentconclusion

on

Hasan

had

the

two

offices

combined

all

the

information

they
