WORLD BOOK DAY We funded the purchase of more than £5,000 worth of books chosen by the students themselves, according to what they wish to read. MUSIC We are very proud to this year fund the music lessons for Y3 and Y4 to the tune of £15,000. The money funded the instrument teaching cost. We hope that the PTA can continue to contribute to the music programme to extend it to children who want to keep learning an instrument into Y5 and beyond. DIGITAL PARENT EVENING We funded a lecture by expert Stephen Carrick-Davies on dealing with our children’s digital world. YEAR 6 We will again fund First Aid courses for all Y6 students in the summer term and finance the Y6 hoodies and yearbook. Where does the PTA money go? Here’s what we deliver! What we need: ! Donations from companies for the raffle or tombola ! Good quality items for the children’s and adult’s tombola, such as unwanted gifts or wrapped food products (e.g. chocolates or wine) ! Second hand toys ! People to help beforehand, for instance to help wrap the lucky dip prizes, and to help on the day– half an hour on a stall or helping to set up can make a real difference! Whatsapp from the Digital parent evening? The Digital Parenting Evening was held on Wednesday March 11 at Webb’s Road and was extremely well attended. Stephen Carrick-Dav ies once again gave an insightful talk about e-safety and the pitfalls of internet addiction, cyber bullying, the digital footprint we and our children leave behind and the requirement for internet security. It was an incredibly useful event and quite an eye-opener. We would strongly encourage all parents to try to attend next year’s seminar and to make sure you are aware of the protection needed as you allow your child to enter the digital world.

Easter poster competition winners! Congratulations to the winners of the Easter Bake poster competition. We had hundreds of fantastic entries, but after much deliberation our expert judge, Ms Boulcott, chose Piper Berg (4B) as the overall winner. Her wonderful design is up around the school and on the website. Prizes were also awarded to the best entry in each year: Jonny Beacon: Nursery Blue Apolline Brunet: RSB Nikita Kuzmin: 1CB Katharina Hopkins: 2R Anja Mackenzie: 3F Jacobi Gonzales: 4B Leila Balachandran: 5J Flynn Laban: 6S Ms Boulcott was impressed by the standard of the entries – many thanks to everyone who designed a poster for the competition. The winners received chocolate eggs, and a book token courtesy of Wicked Uncle (wickeduncle.co.uk) The Easter Bake raised in excess of £700 for the school.
