Partners with Youth celebrates the people and companies who are rolling up their sleeves and joining with our inner-city youth to build new pathways to opportunity and community relationships which benefit everyone.
Our All Stars Project Afterschool Development programs include corporate workshops, internships and networking that are helping hundreds of young people move away from poverty and toward success. We support them to be builders of relationships and environments that make development and learning possible.
All Stars is also all about performing on stage and off stage. It is through creating and performing every minute of the day that our young people are building new possibilities for themselves — and they are helping to build a better world for everyone.
This year’s benefit will spotlight BIG BUILDERS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE, the very special Bay Area real estate and construction leaders who recognize the kind of energy, financial support and independence that it takes to build something new for young people. They are bold, big-hearted and dedicated to growing and providing opportunity to all Bay Area youth through financial support and hands-on involvement – building with our young people.
We are also deeply proud that with a very big heart we will honor and recognize the LIFETIME OF ACHIEVEMENT of Elouise Joseph, MD, our founding All Stars City Leader in the Bay Area. Through her decades of work as a pediatrician, followed by close to 20 years dedicated to building our All Stars programs, “Dr. J.” has brought love, support and development to more than fifteen thousand children and youth — and inspiration to all of us.

GREG FUJITA Senior Project Manager, Hathaway Dinwiddie
Helping Bay Area youth to grow is personally important to Helen and Greg, so they are thrilled to be representing their firm and its growing support and involvement in the All Stars Project. The firm has been a Partners with Youth gold sponsor for the past three years. This spring, Helen organized Greg and other key members of the Boston Properties team to host our DSY students at the Salesforce Tower for a workshop on “how to run a skyscraper,” giving them an eye-opening look at one of the region’s most important centers of business activity.

Elouise “Dr. J.” Joseph’s life has been about a quiet courage and steely resolve to bring the best to young people and poor communities.
Elouise grew up in poverty in Louisiana, which profoundly impacted her worldview and drove her commitment to public service. When she was seven, her 2-year old brother died on the way to a charity hospital. Her mother’s anguish prompted her “then and there” to decide to become a doctor. For many years, she never expressed this aloud. In a town that had few expectations for its young people, she knew she would be made fun of.
With no formal support for applying to college, Elouise joined a friend, who was taking a scholarship exam, winning her own entry to Southern University, a historically black college in New Orleans. There, she was able to express her ambitions and won the support of professors. Her biology teacher, a white man, steered her towards Stanford’s medical school where she was one of six black students. She completed her residency at San Francisco’s Mount Zion Hospital, which served largely poor, black patients, went on to work at Kaiser and began raising a family.
She was determined to practice medicine in a way that helped children and families lift up their lives as a whole. She helped poor families navigate “the system” — and worked around it, encouraging kids to “drop in”
for check-ups and treatment.
The opportunity to build with poor kids and families and in the community – something she had been long searching for — came to Elouise through her friendship with Joyce Dattner, a respected activist who was looking for a leader to help her bring All Stars to the Bay Area.
For more than a decade, Elouise led the building of the All Stars as a volunteer. She spent her hours after work and her weekends on door-to-door outreach, on leading programs, in learning to be All Stars’ public face and building relationships with business leaders. She had her sons join her to learn about giving back. In 2012, she made the extraordinary move to leave Kaiser to lead All Stars programs full time.
She has always done “whatever it takes.” It’s why thousands of young people have loved her and trusted her to demand of them that they grow. She has inspired supporters, business and community partners and professional colleagues, who all appreciate her level of accomplishment and her commitment to young people and the community.
We are grateful to have a leader who has given so much to create our powerful foundation of development, connection and community — and who will continue to change lives for many years to come. We are so proud to honor you, “Dr. J.”
All Stars gave me the tools (which are truly exceptional) and the support to developmentally impact on the health of our poorest young people. We are all human beings, and All Stars taught me that our humanity has everything
to do with our creativity, so it is a joy to work with so many different people on continuously creating new possibilities for our young people and our country. – Elouise Joseph, MD

“ When it comes to giving young people in our inner cities access to opportunity, All Stars is the real thing. Young people who go through All Stars performance training are better able to handle the world. They get great tools for interacting, communicating and having a more fulfilled life. They have options and the power to pursue them. All Stars has done so many things right, and continues to make quantum leaps and develop new ideas.”
