Benefits of Identification of Blood Group Antigen Frequencies

• Producing natural or immune alloantibody• Providing antigen negative compatible RBC more easily• Making a data bank of antigens frequency in our donors for

preparation of reagent panels• Presence or absence of some RBC antigens can be related to

some diseases

Identified Antigens

• ABO• Rh (D, C, E, c, and e antigens)• MNSs (M, N, S and s antigens)• Lutheran (Lua and Lub antigens)• p (p and p1 antigens)• Kell ( K, k, Kpa and Kpb antigens)• Lewis ( Lea and Leb antigens)• Duffy (Fya and Fyb antigens)

• Kidd ( Jka and Jkb antigens)

Conclusion

We observed some differences in phenotypefrequencies of blood group compared with someother reports.

Specially, we found higher frequencies of B bloodgroup and rare phenotypes of Lu (a-b-), Le (a+b+)and Fy (a-b-).
