the new Briley EZ Bolt handle and
EZ Bolt release mechanism, but I
have now gotten so used to them I
dont know how I got along
without them. They really do
improve the ergonomics of the
SuperSport II. Besides, they look
pretty nice too and are welcome
additions. The new fore-endweight was another item I wasnt
sure about, but it is growing on
me. I didnt think I would like the
additional weight, but I can now
see why many SuperSport II
owners might welcome the option
of added weight. The standard
fore-end cap is 1.5 ounces
compared to 6 ounces for the
Briley unit supplied with the
Special Edition a significant
increase of 4.5 ounces. The
standard SuperSport II weighs
7.2 pounds and the Special Edition
tips the scales at 7.7 pounds. That
additional weight doesnt seem like
much, but with the additional
weight hanging way out on the
Benellis long fore-end it increases
the weight exponentially.
Modifying the trigger on anautomatic shotgun is not an easy
task, but Briley has done an
excellent job on the standard
trigger. I noticed the improvement
the first time I pulled the trigger.
These guns also feature
Benellis proven ComforTech
system with gel recoil butt pads
and comb inserts that reduce
recoil by as much as 48 percent
and muzzle climb by 15 percent.
$750 PremiumThe Benelli Special Edition
SuperSport II carries a
premium of $751.00 over the
price of the standard unit. If
you consider that it has been
bored out, forcing cone
modified, has a new bolt
release and bolt handle, new
fore-end weight, two new
Spectrum chokes and a
greatly improved trigger, I
think its a bargain and a bigimprovement over the
standard gun. Handling and
recovery time has been
significantly improved and the gun
is much less whippy. It transitions to
the second target on report and true
pairs smoother than a conventional
SuperSport. I think Benellis
partnership with Briley will be of
great benefit to both companies I
gotta have one!
All of the modifications done to
the SuperSport II have been done
to the 20 gauge SuperSport II and
Cordoba 12 and 20 gauge dual-
purpose shoguns. The Cordoba
12 gauge has a suggested retail
price of $2,600 and the 20 gauge
has a suggested retail of $2,470.
