I am in the final stages of a PhD exploring the use of web campaign tools in the 2010 General Election inthe UK. I have taken a mixed methods approach that has given me experience of a wide range of research
methods including quantitative analysis based on multivariate statistical techniques using both Stata and
SPSS. I have also explored additional methods including elite interviews, content/structural analysis of
websites, and hyperlink network analysis (using VOSON, NODEXL, Discover Text and Issue Crawler). I
have presented my work - both verbally and in written form - in a number of forums, including through
academic conferences and publications. During this time I have also taught undergraduate seminar groups
as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

I completed a Masters degree in politics in 2005. The course covered a wide range of topics, focussing on
questions of governance. The degree also included two units on research methods designed as preparation
for pursuing both qualitative and quantitative research in the future. As part of this degree I also prepared
a dissertation exploring the use of the Web as a campaign tool by national level political parties in the
2005 General Election.

My undergraduate degree was a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of conflict that includedelements of history, philosophy, international relations and politics. As part of this degree I prepared a
dissertation on the use of private military companies.

As well as my current PhD research, I also work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Manchester.
I have taught on the popular Introduction to Comparative Politics Course for the last three years. My duties
involved:
Leading seminar groups of up to 13 undergraduates Facilitating group discussions Delivering content where needed Planning class activities and group work Ensuring that I was prepared both to lead discussion and answer questions on a range of topics Holding a regular office hour Marking assessed essays A degree of administrative work such as keeping a register of attendance

Manchester based public relations consultancy that specialised in community consultation and political advice for
local planning projects, mainly in the energy sector. My duties consisted of:
Managing a range of clients mainly in the energy sector Research and analysis of local political situations Writing press releases Organising and staffing public exhibitions Attending and reporting back on various public meetings Organising public consultations including targeting areas for consultation and managing feedback Assisting with bids for new work
