French Roast CoffeeGround & Ready to Brew14 Ounce Bag for $3.99!

French roast is known for being deep & dark, rich & intensely flavorful. Some folks would have you believe you have to shell out a lot of beans to get yourself a cup of coffee with this impressive flavor profile. To that we say, “Beans!” Or, more bluntly, “Sheer Nonsense!” Trader Joe’s has been in the coffee business for more than 30 years – we’ve spent these years working for our customers to get the best, rock bottom, everyday prices on high quality coffees. Our new Ground French Roast Coffee continues this storied history.

A blend of the finest 100% Arabica beans from Brazil, Mexico and Peru, Trader Joe’s Ground French Roast is roasted to the rich, dark, intensely flavorful finish you expect of French roast, without the high price. We’re selling each 14 ounce, nitrogen-flushed bag of finely ground coffee for the phenomenal value price of $3.99! That means each six ounce cup will cost you about 8¢. Ouah! (That’s French for “Wow!”)

Tomato Basil MarinaraJust $1.79 for 26 ounces!

This is one of the best values we’ve seen for any product in any store in recent memory. And not just because of the price. At Trader Joe’s, we firmly believe that the only place you’ll find value is at the intersection of excellent price and top quality. If either of those factors is missing, then you’re not dealing with a real value. That’s what makes Trader Giotto’s Tomato Basil Marinara such a great value.

Our supplier has been making this sauce the same way since 1934 – simmered slowly in small batches to bring out the bright flavors of the fresh ingredients: sun-ripened tomatoes, sweet basil, extra virgin olive oil and spices. It’s a simple sauce, and simply delicious on all kinds of pastas, on pizza, or as a dipping sauce for appetizers like our Arancini Bites.

Cross that top quality with the almost unbelievably excellent price of $1.79 for a 26 ounce jar, and you have real, undeniable value. And you’ll find it only at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s.

Beringer Third Century Chardonnay$3.99 a Bottle!

Beringer Third Century wines were created to celebrate Beringer’s third century in the wine business. With time comes experience. With experience comes expertise. With expertise comes, especially in this case, great tasting wine.

Beringer Third Century Chardonnay is crafted with grapes from California’s Central Coast, primarily Santa Barbara County. The cool climate and sea air allow the grapes in this region to ripen slowly, to their full potential, imparting excellent varietal character to the wine. With a slightly tropical base, this wine achieves a harmonious balance of oak and fruit, making it an excellent choice with any number of foods. Our Stuffed Peppers (p. 12) and Fontina Cheese (p. 16) come to mind.

We’re selling Beringer Third Century Chardonnay for the outstanding price of $3.99 a bottle. (We’ve seen it elsewhere for three times that much!) We negotiated this great price by committing to a good number of cases up front. We have limited quantities of this terrific wine value, and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Oh, Joe, you’re a lifesaver. I don’t know what I’d do without your Reduced Guilt Chips (p. 8) & Low Fat Granola (p. 15).

Protein-Packed Pasta DinnerFeed Four in Six Minutes

For Less Than $5.00!Proving that even a simple dinner can be made more convenient, without sacrificing flavor or quality, Trader Joe’s has introduced two products that make it a snap to have a pasta dinner on the table in just minutes, without spending much money.

Trader Joe’s Just Spaghetti is just that – spaghetti. It’s fully cooked, rolled into a coil shape and frozen. You just take it out of the outer package, heat it in the microwave for about two and a half minutes, and presto! Perfectly al dente spaghetti, in less time than it takes to boil water.

What to serve with Just Spaghetti to complete the meal? Trader Joe’s Turkey Bolognese Sauce. Also found in our freezers, this is a slow-simmered, authentic-in-all-ways-but-one Bolognese. We’ve veered from tradition by using turkey instead of beef, pork and veal. In fact, more than 20% of the total weight of this sauce is turkey! The result is a protein-packed sauce that’s just as savory, just as thick and just as delicious as a classic Bolognese, but with far fewer calories. Plus, you can pull it out of your freezer and have it ready to ladle atop a bowl of pasta in about 3-4 minutes.

Just Spaghetti is $2.49 for a pound of cooked pasta, and Turkey Bolognese is $2.49 for 12 ounces of hearty sauce. Together, $4.98 for enough food for a family of four (okay, maybe two, if you have teenaged boys). Now that’s a wow! Only at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s.

In the Fresh Meat Case...Thinly Sliced Pork Cutlets

Great for a Quick MealWe love these Pork Cutlets for so many reasons. One, they’re sliced quite thinly for quick and easy preparation - you can sauté them in a little olive oil or coat them with breadcrumbs and bake or fry to a golden color in no time at all. Two, they taste really good – if you’re a fan of pork and all its culinary possibilities, these will become a staple in your fridge.

And that brings us to yet another reason to love Trader Joe’s Butcher Shop Pork Cutlets – their fat content. With just 3.5 grams of fat per serving, these Cutlets also boast a healthful, nutritional profile. If you need yet another reason, how about our price of just $4.49 a pound? Yeah, we thought that might do the trick.

Fresh Manicotti with Wild Mushroom Marinara

Manicotti is one of our favorite treats in all of Italian cuisine. Rich and satisfying, it’s a dish that’s as comforting as your favorite sweater. Trouble is, it can take hours to make manicotti from scratch. Putting together the ingredients and simmering the sauce. Cooking the pasta and filling it with savory cheeses and herbs. And then the baking. It’s no wonder most folks opt to get their manicotti fix at a restaurant, rather than from their own kitchens. That is, until now.

Trader Joe’s Manicotti with Wild Mushroom Sauce, our new twist on this favorite, brings manicotti to your kitchen table, in about 3-4 minutes. We’ve done the hard work, stuffing the tubular pasta shells with mozzarella, ricotta and Romano cheeses, then topping them with a slow-simmered wild mushroom marinara sauce that’s loaded with porcini and white mushrooms. All that’s left for you to do is the heating. So easy. This hearty entrée is par-baked, so when you heat it, it’s cooking through for the first time – it really will taste as though you’ve spent hours in your kitchen perfecting the feast. The reality? Even if you spend a few minutes tossing a salad and slicing some bread, you’ll have dinner on the table in less than 10 minutes. Mangia!

Each 22 ounce Manicotti with Wild Mushroom Marinara Sauce will feed about three pasta lovers. You’ll find it in our refrigerated cases for the excellent price of $5.99, every day.

Need to make dinner in a hurry? Easy. Come to

Trader Joe’s. Fill your cart with preps-so-fast-

you-hardly-have-time-to-get-hungry food. Go

home. Prep (really fast). Sit back. Enjoy...

Papa Joe lost interest in his fishing expedition when he realized he wasn’t likely to catch any Fresh Manicotti.

Look Closely...Prices are Smaller than You Might Imagine.

There’s been a lot of talk about “rolling back prices” and “deep discounts.” We think that only applies if those prices were artificially elevated from the get-go. At Trader Joe’s, we have honest, everyday low prices, every day. Every week. Every year. Since the beginning. What a concept.

Fresh • Boneless • Skinless Chicken Breasts $2.99 a Pound!

We love boneless, skinless chicken breasts because they’re flavorful without being fatty and versatile without being complicated. We love Trader Joe’s Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts because they’re a tremendous value at $2.99 a pound, every day. Unlike some other stores, we don’t offer this price only occasionally; this is our price every day. And unlike some other stores, we don’t insist that you buy 10 pounds of chicken just to get a good deal. Our packages are about two pounds, so you’ll pay right around $6.00 for a package of 3-4 lean, tender, great tasting Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts at Trader Joe’s.

Think about it this way. Convenient, versatile, low fat, high protein, great flavor and an excellent everyday price To us, this sounds like a near-perfect food. Look for them in our fresh meat cases.

Chamomile TeaBox of 20 Tea Bags for $1.99

Under the heading of “Taking Good Care of Yourself,” you’ll find a box of Trader Joe’s

Chamomile Tea. Why? Because it’s virtually impossible to be stressed out while drinking a cup of

Chamomile Tea, and reducing stress is a surefire way to improve your overall well-being. So…

Trader Joe’s Chamomile Tea is a 100% natural, herbal tea. It is naturally caffeine-free, replete with that signature sweet, soothing chamomile fragrance and

subtly earthy flavor. We’re selling Chamomile Tea in a box of 20 tea bags for the excellent

everyday value of $1.99. Have a sip and... Om…

Fat Free Refried Beans99¢ a Can!

Ever wonder why refried beans are called refried beans when they’re only cooked once? We did. Turns out that the whole thing is based on a simple case of mistaken translation. You see, in colloquial Mexican Spanish, the prefix re is often used to mean “very.” So frijoles refritos should actually translate to very fried beans, not refried beans. Interesting.

And accurate, it turns out. To make really good refried beans, you have to cook them for hours.

With Trader Joe’s Traditional Style Fat

Free Refried Beans, though, you can get that

same great taste by simply opening a can, because all that

work has already been done. Plus, you get iron, magnesium, Omega-3s and loads of protein – 14 grams

in every one cup serving. Add them to your taco night spread, use them in burritos or combine them with our Queso Cheese Dip – for more on why it’s called Queso Cheese Dip, see page 4 – to make a reexcellent bean & cheese dip.

We’re selling each 16 ounce can of Traditional Style Fat Free Refried

Beans for 99¢, every day. You’ll find them on our grocery shelves.

Trader José’s Salsa AutenticaWe’ve been selling Trader José’s Salsa Autentica, made by the same supplier, since 1983. In that time, we’ve added a number of other, great tasting salsas, but we’ll always have a special affection for this, the very first salsa with our name on it. It’s still made just for us in small batches, using tomatoes, freshly minced yellow chiles and the ideal balance of seasonings, to create a salsa worthy of inclusion in any authentic Mexican-inspired meal.

We think Salsa Autentica is the perfect salsa for taco night (more about this on p. 4) – its simple, natural ingredients and medium-spicy flavor profile make it a bueno addition to any good taco. It’s also super for chip dipping, an excellent addition to soups and a low cal, fat free alternative to salad dressing. We’re selling each 12 ounce jar for $1.69, every day. You’ll find it on our grocery shelves.

Taco Night from Trader Joe’s

The TJ Take on the Chile Relleno

A Meal for $2.99!Chile Rellenos are, literally, stuffed chiles. They’re savory, a little spicy and quite delicious. They’re also, most commonly, battered and deep fried before being topped with a tomato-based sauce. We really love the flavors of chile rellenos, so we wondered if we could accomplish the same end result without all the heavy battering and frying. We did.

Trader Joe’s Chile Relleno is a fire-roasted Poblano pepper, rolled in bread crumbs and filled with Jack & Cheddar cheeses – along with spices and seasonings like cilantro, green chile peppers, onions and cumin – and then baked, not fried. It’s topped with a ranchero sauce and sprinkled with more cheese. Not too spicy, each Chile Relleno makes a satisfying lunch or dinner for one. And because it’s not deep fried, each has only 350 calories. These are made exclusively for Trader Joe’s, and we’re selling each 10 ounce package (one serving) for $2.99. You’ll find them in our freezers.

Seriously Cheesy!Trader Joe’s Queso Cheese Dip

Start with cheese, add roasted garlic chipotle salsa and you get Trader Joe’s Queso Cheese Dip. In Spanish, queso means “cheese.” So you could think we were being carelessly repetitive calling this product Trader Joe’s Queso Cheese Dip. In reality, we were being cheesy. Well, we wanted to be darn sure you knew this was one heck of a cheesy cheese dip! It has a little kick to it, but it’s mostly about the

cheese. Use it as a dip, straight from the jar, for tortilla chips or vegetable crudités. Spoon it over nachos, tacos or even eggs, for a cheesy take on huevos rancheros.

We’re selling Trader Joe’s Queso Cheese Dip in an 11.5 ounce jar for $2.49. You’ll find it on our grocery shelves.

All Natural! No Preservatives! This Guacamole’s Got Your Number

Trader José’s Avocado’s Number Guacamole has a mind-bogglingly large number of avocados – at least five in every 16 ounce package. Lorenzo Avogadro, the math & physics whiz, came up with a mind-bogglingly large number, too (6.02214199 x 1023, if you’re curious). Make sense now? Okay, humor us; it’s perfectly logical, right?

Where no explanation is necessary is the fresh taste and incredible versatility this Guacamole brings to the table. You can enjoy it as is, or add tomatoes, jalapeños and cilantro for a spicier, tangier version. It is, of course, a natural for tortilla chips, but it’s also a winner on burgers or added to a BLT. It’s in our refrigerator cases, so you can have fresh tasting guacamole any time at all. Best of all, each 16 ounce package contains two individually packaged eight ounce trays of guacamole – you can use one and save the other for next time, if you can resist eating it all at once, that is. Each 16 ounce package of Avocado’s Number Guacamole is $3.49, every day.

Looks like Taco Night is going to make a big splash. I guess I’ll just dive right in!

If the dinnertime routine has you a little bored, perhaps the time has come for taco night in your house. Trader Joe’s is a good place for all things taco, especially since the recent introduction of Trader Joe’s Taco Shells and Trader Joe’s Taco Seasoning. The all natural Shells are made with organic stoneground corn and hold enough taco “stuff” to make some satisfying tacos. Heat them in a 425º oven for 2-3 minutes and they’ll reward you with incredible crunch. Each 5.5 ounce box of 12 Shells is $1.99, every day.

The Taco Seasoning is a spicy triumph of all natural herbs and spices like sea salt, cayenne, cumin, smoked paprika, red peppers and oregano. Unlike many other taco seasonings, ours doesn’t contain any artificial ingredients or MSG. Use it to enliven ground meat or diced chicken breast, or if you’re going meat-free with your tacos, sprinkle it into your Refried Beans (p. 3) as they heat. We mentioned it’s spicy, right? It’s true. We recommend using about half a packet for every pound of meat you prepare. This makes our price of 79¢ for each 1.3 ounce packet of Trader Joe’s Taco Seasoning a truly tremendous, totally tacolicious value!

Chewable Vitamin C That Tastes Like Oranges!

Active 50+ Once Daily Multivitamin Plus Probiotics

60 Tablets • $11.99!We’re not sure which aspect of Trader Joe’s Active 50+ Once Daily Multivitamins we like best. The food-based formulation that’s gentle on the stomach? The impressive array of essential vitamins and minerals – a customized B-complex to support energy, brain health and heart health, antioxidants like lutein and lycopene and 1,000 IU of vitamin D – blended specifically for active people over age 50? The addition of 25 million live probiotics to aid in digestion?

Ultimately, it’s all of these things together that make this the best Active 50+ Multivitamin we could find. And here’s a little secret the “big brand name” vitamin business doesn’t want you to know – ours are just as potent as the “big brand name” versions, but at a fraction of the cost. We’re selling Trader Joe’s Active 50+ Once Daily Multivitamin Plus Probiotics for $11.99 for each bottle of 60 tablets! This is a terrific value for an excellent multivitamin product – one you’ll find only at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s.

Super Drink PowdersSo you want to live forever, huh? We suggest you follow in the footsteps of Ponce de Leon. But if it’s the more attainable goal of everyday healthy living you’re after, Trader Joe’s Super Green Drink Powder and Super Red Drink Powder may be just what you need.

An astounding concoction of antioxidant powerhouses, Super Green and Super Red have powers that rival even the mightiest superhero. The power of ORAC. That’s Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity – and that’s a very technical way to describe antioxidant potency. For example, a 3.5 ounce serving of cherries has about 670 ORAC units. The same amount of broccoli? About 900 ORAC units.

But a single scoop of Trader Joe’s Super Green Drink Powder or Super Red Drink Powder contains at least 8000 ORAC units! And unlike many of its super-rivals, it tastes great! Green is berry flavored, and Red is fruit punch flavored. Just mix a scoop of your favorite flavor into eight ounces of water, milk or juice. We’re selling each 10.6 ounce canister for $19.99 – about half of what we’ve seen comparable products selling for elsewhere.

It sometimes seems that the whole world wants more Vitamin C in its diet, especially in the winter months when you’re most likely to catch a cold. Most of us, though, don’t want to have to swallow pill after pill to get enough of this important vitamin. Trader Joe’s Oranges & C Chewables are a tasty, easy way to take Vitamin C, especially good for people who have a hard time swallowing or digesting tablets, and for kids. Oranges & C Chewables contain 500 milligrams of

Vitamin C and natural citrus bioflavonoids from oranges and other citrus fruits.

Oranges & C Chewables are slightly sweetened for taste but contain no starch, yeast, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. They’re independently tested for potency, and independently verified a great value. We’re selling each bottle of 100 chewable tablets for the excellent price of $4.99, the same price we’ve had since 2005.

Resveratrol • 250mg 60 Vegetarian Capsules • $13.99

Resveratrol shot to fame a number of years ago when some studies suggested that drinking a certain amount of red wine (resveratrol is a naturally occurring substance found in the skins of red grapes) could have a beneficial impact on heart health and the effects of aging. We won’t take sides on the wine-drinking side of the debate, but we do think Trader Joe’s Resveratrol is a good, non-alcoholic way to get a concentrated dose of resveratrol into your diet every day.

You would need to drink more than 100 glasses of red wine to get as much resveratrol as you’ll find in one of our capsules – we don’t recommend that. We do recommend Trader Joe’s Resveratrol. Derived from the highest grade Japanese knotweed and red wine grape extract, it’s super purified to make it gentle on the stomach. Definitely gentler than 100 glasses of wine. And less expensive. We’re selling each bottle of 60 capsules for $13.99, every day.

New in the Freezers!Baked Rice Snacks

(Yaki Onigiri)Yaki Onigiri is a classic snack common in Japanese homes, pubs and even fast food restaurants. It’s also a lifelong favorite treat of our frozen foods buyer. She introduced it to us; we’re the lucky ones who get to introduce it to you. Trader Joe’s Baked Rice Snacks (Yaki Onigiri) begin with premium Grade A Japanese short grain rice, cooked and seasoned, then fashioned into snack-size triangular shapes, baked with soy sauce and frozen. It takes less than five minutes to heat them in the microwave – they make excellent snacks anytime, are unique lunchbox treats and are good with just about any Japanese-themed meal – serve alongside wasabi & pickled ginger for a customary presentation.

Until now, we haven’t seen anything like our Baked Rice Snacks anywhere – well, other than the kitchen of our frozen foods buyer or small Japanese markets. We definitely haven’t seen any with a price as good as ours – only $2.69 for each 14.1 ounce package of eight pieces.

Only at Trader Joe’s!Battered Fish Nuggets

$3.99 a Pound! In the icy cold waters of the Bering Sea lies the Aleutian Island chain. Stretching for more than 1,600 miles, the waters surrounding these islands are home to some of the richest fishing grounds in the world. It is from this American territory that the wild Alaskan Pollock used to make Trader Joe’s Battered Fish Nuggets is caught.

These tasty morsels are the fish equivalent of a chicken nugget – though, in true Trader Joe’s form, they’re made without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. They also really taste like the Pollock with which they’re made, mild and a bit sweet – never “fishy.” Our Battered Fish Nuggets are fully cooked and frozen, ready to heat and serve. They’re a natural for kids, of course, but if our experience is any indication, you should probably make enough for the adults in the room, too.

As natural and delicious as these Nuggets are, we think you’ll be most pleased with our price of $3.99 for a one pound box. You’ll find them in our freezers.

Steam in the Bag!Raviolone in Brodo

Every culture, it seems, has its ravioli. Of course, only the Italians call them ravioli, but consider this: the Chinese have wontons, Eastern Europe has pierogis, German cuisine offers Maultaschen and so on. For the latest entry in the ravioli kingdom, please welcome Trader Joe’s Raviolone in Brodo, one of the most satisfying ready-to-heat-and-eat entrées we’ve enjoyed in ages.

Raviolone in Brodo (translation, ravioli in broth) features big, hearty, mushroom ravioli and chunks of tender, flavorful beef in a rich, beef-based broth. This is a substantial meal for two, more akin to something you’d order in an upscale restaurant, than something you’d normally pull out of your freezer. And it’s so simple to prepare. It steams in the bag, so all you do is pop the bag in the microwave for five minutes or so. Really, that’s it. While it’s cooking, toss a quick green salad, slice some bread and prep your plates. This is a top-quality, great tasting dinner that can really be on the table in about five minutes. You’ll find Raviolone in Brodo in our freezers - $5.99 for each 16 ounce bag.

Bean so GreenYou might be tempted to say “a vegetable is a vegetable, so what’s so exciting about a bag of vegetables?” While we applaud the question (after all, how does one learn without asking questions?), we’ll have to disagree with the premise when it comes to Trader Joe’s Bean so Green. You see, this is no ordinary bag of vegetables. This is a blend of fresh French green beans, cauliflower (yes, we know, not green), Romanesco (a cauliflower relative with broccoli-like color), broccoli and peas, with a light, yet perfectly seasoned, garlic butter sauce.

In the bag, the frozen vegetables are enrobed in the sauce, so when they cook, the sauce melts and its subtly garlicky taste becomes a culinary complement to the veggies’ fresh flavors. Produced just for us in France, Bean so Green makes an excellent side dish with chicken, fish or pork. It cooks in about six minutes in the microwave or on the stovetop. You’ll find it in our freezers for $2.99 for each 16 ounce bag.

People in frigid climates have been freezing food as

a means of preservation for centuries. It wasn’t until

1923, though, that an American pioneer invented

a way to freeze fresh foods without first traveling to

Arctic climes. We salute him.

Why is it everyone thinks we love the cold? I’m freezing!

Are you kidding? Where else could you find, Yaki Onigiri, Raviolone, Quinoa...

Cucumber WontonsThe literal translation for Won Ton (wuntun) from Cantonese is “swallowing clouds.” Now doesn’t that sound like fun? Even more fun? Filling those clouds with fresh cucumber, tofu, brown rice, herbs and spices. Trader Joe’s Cucumber Wonton Rolls are a squarely vegetarian take on traditional wontons – and when we say squarely, we really mean square. As in… shaped like a square. As with all square foods bearing the Trader Joe’s name, they’re made with only all natural ingredients – that’s no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. No kidding. (Okay, this goes, for all Trader Joe’s foods, not just the square ones.)

Trader Joe’s Cucumber Wonton Rolls have been fully cooked and quick frozen so when you’re feeling particularly wanton, you can quickly pan-fry, microwave or even heat them in a soup to enjoy. And their unique, square-shaped bite size makes them perfect for party appetizers or after-school snacks. We’re selling each 12 ounce package of about 24 Cucumber Wonton Rolls for $2.69. You’ll find this square deal in our freezers.

Pomegranate Seeds12 Ounce Bags • $3.99

From the Latin for “seeded apple,” pomegranates are among civilization’s oldest-known fruits. With origins in Southwest Asia, pomegranates are now cultivated in hospitable climates around the world. Lucky world.

Back to that “seeded apple” root. Clearly, pomegranates are shaped like apples, but you sure don’t eat them the same way. When you eat an apple, you generally discard the seeds. With pomegranates, the seeds, or arils, are the delicious prize, the reward for breaking through the tough exterior and staining your hands (and perhaps your clothes, carpets, and furniture). Trader Joe’s Pomegranate Seeds are just that – the seeds – removed from the rind, frozen and ready to eat, without the mess. They’re a bit crunchy, naturally sweet and loaded with antioxidants – enjoy them as a snack, spoon them over yogurt or ice cream or add them to salads. We’re selling them in a 12 ounce bag for $3.99 – talk about a prize!

Vegetable Panang Curry With Jasmine Rice

Quinoa DuoA Harmonious Blend

We’re known for traveling the world in search of interesting foods and exceptional values. We’ll admit that while it’s hard work, it’s also great fun – meeting intriguing people and tasting the cuisines of so many of the world’s cultures. And sometimes we get a taste of something that combines ingredients from a number of food cultures to create an entirely new category of cuisine. Perfect for Trader Joe’s.

Quinoa (keen-wah) was a favorite of the Incas, beloved for both its nutty flavor and because it is higher in protein than other grains, and a good source of iron, making it a nutritional powerhouse. Trader Joe’s Quinoa Duo with Vegetable Melange is a product of France, and has a distinctly French flavor profile. It seems we’ve created a new category of cuisine – call it FrIncan, or something like that. Whatever you call it, you’ll love this blend of white and red quinoa with vegetables like zucchini and sweet potato, delightfully seasoned and ready to heat. Serve it as a side with chicken or pork, or make a meal out of it. We’re selling Trader Joe’s Quinoa Duo in 16 ounce bags for $3.99 each, every day. You’ll find it in our freezers.

Panang curry is a traditional Thai curry that’s generally a little more sweet and mild than most Thai curries, but with enough spice to remind you of its origin. Trader Joe’s Vegetable Panang Curry with Jasmine Rice is our vegetarian take on this staple dish. Its spice blend includes dried chilies, galangal, lemongrass, coriander root, garlic and shallots. It’s loaded with vegetables like green beans, zucchini, baby corn, spinach and asparagus. A blend of

white and brown Jasmine rice complements the sweet-spicy nature of the Panang.

Our Vegetable Panang Curry with Jasmine Rice makes an excellent lunch or dinner for one. Five minutes in the microwave is all it takes to bring the flavors of authentic Thai cuisine to your kitchen. Each 12.7 ounce package is $2.69, every day. You’ll find it in our freezers.

Brrr, I need some clothes! The only time I like to be this cold is when I’m sticking my hands into the freezers at Trader Joe’s.

Garden Patch Veggie Soup60 Calories per serving!

Are you a fan of our Garden Patch Juice? (See page 18 for more info) Then trust us when we tell you Trader Joe’s Garden Patch Veggie Soup is for you. This sublimely satisfying soup is a savory blend of vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, spinach and celery, well seasoned and bursting with fresh vegetable flavor. Each eight ounce serving is the equivalent of two servings of veggies, and like the vegetables from which it’s crafted, this soup is an excellent source of vitamins A & C, and a good source of potassium, iron and fiber. It’s fat free, vegan, kosher parve and contains only 60 calories per serving. Garden Patch Veggie Soup is also very well priced at $2.99 for a 32 fluid ounce, resealable container. You’ll find it on our grocery shelves.

Lemon Ginger Echinacea JuiceJust What the Doctor Ordered

64 ounce Bottle for $3.49Winter chill got you down? A glass of Trader Joe’s Lemon Ginger Echinacea Juice will perk you right up. A tangy blend of tart lemon and spicy ginger, the juice is sweetened with honey and fruit juice (no corn syrup here) to create a sweet-tart-spicy one-of-a-kind thirst quencher. It’s fortified with 300 milligrams of echinacea extract per serving and every eight ounce glass contains 100% of the Daily Value of vitamin C. You can enjoy it cold, over ice, and it’s extra cozy and soothing served warm, in a sturdy mug.

Like all Trader Joe’s products, Lemon Ginger Echinacea is made for us without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. And like all Trader Joe’s products, it’s a very good value at $3.49 for each 64 ounce bottle. You’ll find it in our shelf-stable juice section.

Anti Oxidant Nut & Berry Mix‘Tis the season for healthy living. Or perhaps ‘tis the season for comfort foods. Really, there’s no reason it can’t be both. Trader Joe’s Anti Oxidant Nut & Berry Trail Mix is a crunchy, healthy, delicious and wonderfully comforting blend of roasted almonds, walnuts and cashews with plump raisins, dried cranberries, raspberries and blueberries. We like this one for its full fruity flavor and powerful crunch. We’re also pretty fond of the antioxidants it gets from the dark pigmented fruits. And as long as we’re being completely truthful, we’ll also admit to being big fans of the protein, fiber and the so-called “good fats” we get from the roasted nuts.

So if you’re having trouble reconciling your healthy living resolutions with your desire to indulge, Anti Oxidant Nut & Berry Trail Mix is for you. You’ll find it in 12 ounce bags in our nut & dried fruit section for $4.29 each.

Reduced Guilt BrowniesOoh, yum! Right, right, we know, probably not the best way to start a paragraph. But really… yum! Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Brownies elicit that response pretty much wherever they travel. (Well, okay, our non-scientific travel sampling mostly involved kitchen to table, but they were gone by the time they reached the table, so that counts, right?) These are fat free brownies that are rich and fudgy enough to pass for the fully fattening variety; an unlikely feat, we know, but the proof is in the pudding. Or, should we say, the brownies.

Our Reduced Guilt Brownies are easy to prepare, too. Just add nonfat vanilla yogurt, stir and bake. Done. Again, we know: unlikely. But so true. You can even make them one serving at a time in the microwave in less than a minute (directions are on the box). We like these best warm, right out of the oven. No fat reduces the guilt of eating indulgent sweets. The low price of $2.49 for each 13.7 ounce box pretty much removes the guilt altogether.

Reduced Guilt Potato Chips$1.99 a Bag!

Slow kettle cooking gives these chips their crispy crunch. In our minds, that crunch is second only to fresh potato flavor when it comes to “what makes a great chip.” Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Potato Chips, though, achieve a championship chip trifecta, because in addition to their super crunch and potato-y flavor, they have 33% less fat and 20% fewer calories than our regular potato chips.

In other words, TJ’s Reduced Guilt Potato Chips have all the things you love about potato chips and quite a bit less of the things you don’t. And they’re a reduced guilt value, too, at only $1.99 for each seven ounce bag.

I’m pretty sure she should feel guiltier about that bathing suit than I do about my Reduced Guilt Potato Chips.

Joe’s O’s Go High Fiber And Organic!

Our Joe’s O’s cereal has had the “whole grain goodness at a great value” angle covered for years. But did you know that this same “whole grain goodness” exists in an O-shaped cereal that’s high in fiber and a good source of protein, too? It’s true.

Trader Joe’s Organic High Fiber O’s are the high fiber sister cereal to the original Joe’s O’s. Each serving contains 10 grams of dietary fiber, seven grams of protein and only one gram of fat. Add the benefits of whole grains, and you can clearly see we’ve got a winner on our hands. But what about taste, you ask? Delish. Organic High Fiber O’s are super crunchy with a little nutty flavor and just a touch of sweetness. The price is sweet, too. Each 16 ounce box is just $2.49.

Multigrain British Muffins $1.69 for Six!

English muffins are a great alternative to plain old toast when you’re making breakfast in a hurry. Pop them in the toaster and in mere minutes you’ve got a crispy, chewy treat that only gets better with the addition of butter or preserves. Better yet, add some peanut butter to those preserves and make a grab & go PB&J with a decidedly healthful angle. Don’t limit yourself to breakfast, though. These muffins are excellent for sandwiches and make it easy to make a nifty EMP (that’s English Muffin Pizza).

Trader Joe’s Disraeli & Gladstone Multigrain British Muffins are our multigrain take on the English muffin. Not only do they have all the great taste and convenience of English muffins, they also boast a good dose of multigrain nuttiness. And the story gets better still. Each British Muffin contains five grams of dietary fiber, much more than the average English muffin. These muffins are above average in just about every area except price. We’re selling each 16 ounce package of six British Muffins for the below average price of $1.69, every day. You’ll find them on our bread racks.

Excellent Source of Omega-3!Crunchy Salted Almond Butter

with FlaxseedsAbout a year ago, we introduced a new take on peanut butter – by adding roasted flaxseeds, we managed to give peanut butter an improved texture, flavor and nutritional profile. Well… if we can do it for peanut butter, we can certainly do it for almond butter, right? Of course. So we developed Trader Joe’s Crunchy Salted Almond Butter with Flaxseeds.

We start with all natural, whole California almonds, skins left on – this way you get the nutritious benefits of the whole almond. The almonds are ground, leaving enough pieces to create the “crunchy” texture, then we add Golden Roasted Flaxseeds, which impart a decidedly nutty flavor and good crunch, a nice complement to the rich crunch of the almonds. The flax also adds a powerful nutritional punch – between the almonds and the flax, Trader Joe’s Crunchy Salted Almond Butter with Flaxseeds offers 360 mg of healthful Omega-3 fatty acids. It also offers a great price – each 16 ounce jar is $3.99.

Premium LiteMatured Dutch Cheese

We love pretty much all cheese, from the ordinary to the exotic. Sometimes, though, while a cheese is neither ordinary nor exotic, it may be a cheese with which you’re not so familiar that’s nonetheless quite extraordinary. In these cases, we feel it is our duty as turophiles to bang the drum and start celebrating the cheese.

In this spirit, we’d like to introduce you to Trader Joe’s Premium Lite Matured Dutch Cheese, a reduced fat, aged cheese from northern Holland. Reduced fat aged cheeses are not easy to come by, and with 33% less fat than traditional Dutch cheeses, our Premium Lite Matured Dutch Cheese definitely qualifies as reduced fat, but doesn’t sacrifice full flavor. It’s a soft and creamy cheese, delicious on crackers and equally comfortable chunked onto salads or into soups. We’re thinking it would make a mean mac & cheese, too. We’re selling it in random weight wedges of about eight ounces for $7.99 a pound (each piece will be around $4.00 or so).

Did you know...

Almonds are actually stone fruits, closely

related to peaches, plums and cherries.

Young man, you may be Dutch, but I see nothing premium, lite or mature about you.

INSIDER PAGESINSIDER PAGESAGESThis is where we like to clue you in on some of the inside information about how it is we do things here at Trader Joe’s. Who knew there was so much to know?

Quite often, people approach us and ask, “Trader Joe, why are your cereals so cheap?” We’re going to make the assumption that these folks mean “cheap” as in “inexpensive,” and not “cheap” as in, well, “cheap.” With that as a starting point, we have some answers – the answers are better than cheap; they’re free!

Number one on the list of reasons Trader Joe’s cere-als come with a smaller-than-expected pricetag is this: whenever possible, we buy our cereals directly from the companies that make them. This not only cuts costs (important in the cheap equation), but it also al-lows us to control the quality of what goes into every box. Because as you know, a good price is all well and good, but if the quality of what’s in the box isn’t up to par, then suddenly we’re talking about that other kind of cheap. And we don’t even want to go there.

You also won’t find nearly as many cereals at Trader Joe’s as you’ll find in other stores. We just don’t have the space to stock 500 different types. We also don’t offer four different sized boxes of the same cereal. Again, it’s all about space. If we carried as many dif-ferent varieties and sizes of cereals as you’ll find in a traditional supermarket, we’d probably have to com-pletely eliminate our fresh bakery and coffee sections – we’re quite certain that wouldn’t go over so well. Ultimately, we think our limited space forces us to make better decisions about the products we sell, and that works out well for you as well as us. Next, we put Trader Joe’s cereals in Trader Joe’s packaging. This may seem simple, but it’s actually an incredibly important piece of the puzzle. You see, a good portion of the price you pay for breakfast cereals at a traditional supermarket is made up of marketing costs. Think about it: every cartoon character on a box of cereal comes with a cost, a license fee the ce-real company pays to the cartoon company to feature that character. That cost has to be made up some-where – generally in the form of a higher price for you. When you buy Trader Joe’s cereals, you won’t find any terribly fancy packaging, cartoon characters or “prizes” buried at the bottom of the box. Call us

old-fashioned, but we’re much more concerned with what’s inside the box than what’s on the outside.

Then there are the advertising campaigns. You know the ones. Bright, happy, smiling people eating spoon-fuls of crunchy cereal first thing in the morning (who is that happy first thing in the morning, anyway?), talking to you from your television. Or maybe you’re more familiar with the glossy magazine pages with those same people extolling the virtues of eating one cereal or another. We have no beef with advertising (obviously), but it does get expensive. Again, there has to be a way to pay for those costs; and again, that’s generally through higher prices for you.

They can call me cheap – I say I’m a good value.

At Trader Joe’s, we don’t do big advertising cam-paigns. What you’re reading, this Fearless Flyer? This is our advertising. Not big, not glossy. We’re aiming more for information than entertainment (though if we get a chuckle out of you now and then, that’s okay, too). You won’t see a television commer-cial for Joe’s O’s or a magazine spread about our all natural Apple n’ Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal. Hope-fully what you will see is value – where great price and top quality meet. That’s our serial purpose.

Chariot Gypsy RedBig Bold Flavors

Only $4.99!The gypsy on the label of this full-bodied red wine comes from a tarot deck. Not that we believe in tarot cards or anything, but she’s alleged to be saying, “You are accomplishing your goals,” which we believe Chariot Gypsy Red does with gusto.

Chariot Gypsy is made just for us by a small winemaker with a big talent for handcrafting exquisite wines. Known for his ability to combine distinctive grapes to create stellar blends, for Chariot Gypsy Red, he went with a fearless fusion of some enticing red wines from some of California’s best growing regions – Petite Sirah and Zinfandel give it its big, dark fruit flavors (think plum and cassis with a hint of cocoa). Cabernet and Merlot round things out a bit, and a hint of Sangiovese and Syrah add a little spice.

Chariot Gypsy Red is available only at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s. Its price of $4.99 for a 750 ml bottle really does belie the quality of the wine inside. Try a bottle. Better yet, try two.

In Our Fresh Meat Cases...Zesty Enchilada Stuffed

Chicken BreastsZesty. Zingy. Zowie. Zany. Zoinks. Words that start with “z” just sound good. And apparently, foods that begin with the alphabet’s ultimate letter taste as good as they sound. At least that’s the case with Trader Joe’s Zesty Enchilada Stuffed Chicken Breasts.

We start with boneless, skinless chicken breast halves. A whole fire-roasted green chile is laid in the center and topped with both pepper Jack and Cheddar cheeses. The chicken is rolled, then smothered in enchilada sauce and, finally, crushed tortilla chips. Zesty really doesn’t even begin to describe it, but it does begin with “z,” so it’s definitely a good place to start.

At $5.99 a pound, our Zesty Enchilada Stuffed Chicken Breasts are a good value, and just one example of how we continually zcour the globe for the most zatisfying foods at the fairest zprices. Zelicious!

Green Fin White Wine Made from Organic Grapes$3.99 a Bottle! Wow!

Sesame Honey CashewsTrader Joe’s Sesame Honey Cashews are the delicious result of our buyer and our supplier in Thailand working together to perfect the flavor and texture combination. One of the first things you’ll notice about these nuts is their sesame seed coating. We’ve used teeny little sesame seeds that are somewhat uncommon here in the States, but typical of what is found in Southeast Asia. The cashews are candied with the nut/seed combo in small batches – this helps us ensure quality and consistency in every batch.

Perhaps what sets these nuts apart most is their “are they or aren’t they” mystique. Most candied nuts are more candy than nuts, but because these are lightly candied, rather than covered with a thick layer of candy coating, you can actually taste the nuts, the seeds and the sweetness in every bite. No mystery there. Just deliciousness – and yes, that’s a real word. We’re selling each 16 ounce bag for $5.49, every day.

Cheaper than a European vacation!Country Italian Salad

One thing we’d never even think to argue about is that Italians know their food. Any way you look at it, Italy is a country renowned for its cuisine – and with good reason. From pasta and risotto to pizza and gelato (and everything in between), this is cuisine that pleases across the culinary spectrum.

We’d like you to think of Trader Joe’s Country Italian Salad as your ticket to an Italian vacation, without the high price of a plane ticket, rental car, hotel accommodations and trip insurance. Who knew a salad could be such a truly economical alternative to actual travel? This salad fits the bill. A base of Romaine lettuce is topped with white beans, shredded carrots, bell peppers and shaved Parmesan cheese. This hearty mix comes with a little tub of Parmesan garlic vinaigrette dressing so the salad stays fresh and crisp and you can dress it to your liking. Trader Joe’s Country Italian Salad comes in an eight ounce container for $2.99 (try getting a plane ticket for that!). Look for it in our refrigerated cases.

Fresh Stuffed Red Bell PeppersThis is comfort food, pure and simple. But it’s a bit on the sophisticated side, and it’s made with all natural ingredients, so it’s comfort food with a TJ’s twist, if you will.

Trader Joe’s Stuffed Peppers with Seasoned Turkey & Rice is an entrée that’s suitable for lunch or dinner, and appropriate for family or guests. Each package contains two hollowed-out halves of a red bell pepper, stuffed with a well-seasoned blend of ground turkey and rice. It’s fully cooked and a snap to prepare - just heat in a conventional or microwave oven - so you can have an impressive dinner on the table in just minutes. Add a salad or some steamed veggies and a warm loaf of crusty bread and you’ve got dinner for two in ten minutes or less. For a crowd, TJ’s Stuffed Peppers make a beautiful presentation on a platter in the center of the table. We’re selling each 15 ounce package for $4.99.

Not too long ago, wines made from organically grown grapes focused less on the wine and more on the organic, the thinking being that if you were going to drink organic, you were probably more concerned with the organic than with the wine itself. Thankfully, times have changed.

In that spirit, we’re thrilled with Green Fin California White Table Wine. This is a light, crisp, easy-drinking, pale-straw-colored wine, made for us by one of our most reliable wine partners. The winemakers really made a commitment

to making good, approachable wines that just happened to be made from organic grapes, rather than organic wines that may or may not be good. This one features smooth, subtle flavors of pear, nectarine and orange blossom – it’s good with pasta, chicken or fish, and its refreshing finish makes it an excellent aperitif.

Green Fin California White Table Wine is a good wine at a great price – only $3.99 a bottle! We’ve tasted a lot of wines made from organic grapes, and we haven’t found any nearly this good for anywhere near this price.

I thought my sword climbing routine was fresh until I tried Trader Joe’s Stuffed Peppers.

Freeze Dried StrawberriesOnce relegated to pocket-sized packs in stores that specialize in camping and backpacking supplies, freeze dried fruits have become a staple in our dried fruit & nut section at Trader Joe’s. If you haven’t tried them yet, we think Freeze Dried Strawberries are a delicious introduction.

These are strawberry slices that have undergone a special freeze-drying process so they remain extremely flavorful, but unlike conventionally dried berries, they pack a bit of a crunch. They’re great for snacking anytime – we’ve

found that kids, especially, find them not only delicious but fascinating as well. We like to add them to cereals for a little added flavor, and of course, they’re perfectly at home on the trail, as part of a mix or on their own.

Trader Joe’s Freeze Dried Strawberries come in a 1.2 ounce resealable bag – that may not sound like much, but it takes 12 ounces of fresh, ripe strawberries to produce this much freeze dried fruit. We’re selling each bag for $3.49. (We recommend that you keep the bag tightly sealed after opening to preserve the crunch.)

Dinner in Minutes!Fully Cooked Pot Roast • Ready to Heat & Serve

Yes, you read that correctly. It really does say Fully Cooked Pot Roast. What it doesn’t say is that this miracle of a dinner solution goes from fridge to table in three minutes or less! And this is no February Fantasy story; it’s reality.

Trader Joe’s Fully Cooked Pot Roast, we’ll admit, doesn’t look like much in the package. It’s when you heat this unassuming-looking hunk of meat that it really comes into its own, finds its place in the world, achieves greatness.

And honestly, there aren’t too many things in this world that can achieve greatness this simply – about three minutes in the microwave. That’s all the time it takes for our Fully Cooked Pot Roast to become a delicious entrée that’s ideal for a weeknight supper as well as dinner for company. Serve it with roasted vegetables and a loaf of warm, crusty bread for a complete, and completely satisfying, meal in minutes. Trader Joe’s Pot Roast comes in a one pound package for $6.99, every day. You’ll find it in our refrigerator cases.

Mediterranean Hummus with Pine Nuts16 Ounce Tub • $3.99

Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Hummus with Pine Nuts is made just for us with premium garbanzo beans, just like all our hummus. Where this one is different is in its consistency. Because the texture of hummus tends to be different depending on where in the world it originates, we thought it was time to introduce some of that variety into our stores. So this Mediterranean Hummus is very smooth and creamy, a bit more “whipped” than many other hummus choices. We’ve also taken the liberty of topping

the Hummus with crunchy pine nuts, creating a distinctive flavor and texture profile we think you’ll really enjoy.

When we introduced this smooth & delicious hummus back in 2006, it quickly became a favorite among customers and crewmembers alike. We’ve heard folks say this is their “favorite” hummus. We won’t take a position, other than to say it’s good. Really good. It’s also a great value at a mere $3.99 for each 16 ounce tub.

Parbaked Pugliese • Traditional Italian LoafThe Italian countryside is dotted with small bakeries that produce some of the most mouth-watering breads we’ve ever found. The past 20 years or so have seen a surge in local bakeries here in the U.S. that specialize in handmade traditional Italian country breads. Our Parbaked Pugliese (poo-lee-eh-se) is one of the better examples we’ve tasted.

Most common in Italy’s Apulia region, Pugliese is also known as Pagnota. It is a large loaf that, depending on

the bakery, can weigh as much as ten kilos – that’s more than 22 pounds! Ours isn’t quite that large – it’s a much more manageable eight ounces – but it’s as delicious as anything you’ll find in the Italian countryside. Trader Joe’s Parbaked Pugliese has a rustic crust and porous, chewy crumb, and because it’s parbaked, you get to experience the delightful aromas of freshly baked bread coming from your kitchen – without any of the work. We’re selling each eight ounce loaf for $1.99, every day.

Organic Lemons

Blood OrangesA Red Orange Treat

Can they still be called oranges if they’re not? Orange, that is. Sure, on the outside, blood oranges are just as orange as their orange cousins. But when you peel back the skin, what you find is deep, raspberry-colored flesh that defies the very essence of orange. But still, in flavor, texture and nutritional power, these are definitely oranges. And so you have it.

Trader Joe’s Blood Oranges, grown in California, come in a two pound bag. They’re excellent snacks – and great conversation starters – are delicious on salads and, with just a little effort, make intriguingly delicious juice. We’re selling each bag for $1.99, but we won’t have them for too long. The season is short, and by the end of March, they’ll be gone until next winter.

Organic Pink Lady ApplesWhen we first heard tell of this particular apple variety, we had visions of teenage girls from the 50’s in pink satin jackets, swooning over a bunch of guys in leather jackets. Then, of course, we remembered we were talking apples and not characters from Grease, and we came to our senses.

Instead, Pink Lady Apples, only around since about the mid 1980’s, are crisp, tangy-tart apples that are the result of a cross between the Golden Delicious and Lady Williams varieties. They’re excellent baking apples – pies, tarts, breads, cakes, crisps or just baked with a bit of brown sugar and cinnamon – and excellent with strong cheeses like our Cave Aged Blue Cheese (p. 16). Slice them thinly and include in your next grilled cheese sandwich – you won’t be disappointed. You also won’t be disappointed in our price. We’re selling Organic Pink Lady Apples from the state of Washington in a two pound bag for $2.49, every day.

Red Bell PeppersRed Hot Price

$1.29 Each! While you probably know that Red Bell Peppers are super crunchy snacks, add zing to a salad and are positively blissful sautéed with a bit of olive oil, you might not be aware that they contain at least 75% more vitamin C than citrus fruits, making them a healthful treat. On top of that, Trader Joe’s Red Bell Peppers are consistent, too.

Trader Joe’s Red Bell Peppers are greenhouse grown to our exacting specifications and must pass our strict quality controls before we bring them into our stores. This means that you’ll get consistent size (really big!), consistent flavor (vibrant and sweet!), consistent crunch (CRUNCHY!) and consistent pricing (super, excellent, low, value price!) – a mere $1.29 for each generous-sized pepper. Our supplier uses glass greenhouses, providing consistent (there’s that word again) growing conditions, so that no matter the time of year, these Red Bell Peppers are always everything you expect them to be.

Josephine desperately wanted to be a Pink Lady, but she was a bit too blue for their taste.

Remember the old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?” We’d like to suggest that while this is indeed good advice, we think it’s a bit short sighted. After all, lemons are useful for much more than simply making lemonade. For example, a simple squeeze of lemon juice onto fish or vegetables, or into soups, is a good way to add flavor without adding fat or calories. Lemon zest is a “must add” for any number of recipes. Lemons are the key ingredient in this simple salad dressing: lemon juice, olive oil, salt &

pepper. It’s excellent with our Organic Herb Salad (p. 15). And if your throat is a little scratchy, try adding fresh lemon juice and a bit of honey to a mug of hot water – it’s a simple, and very soothing, home remedy that will take the edge off.

So we say, “When life gives you lemons, diversify!” And do so with a one pound bag of Trader Joe’s Organic Lemons. Each bag is $1.99 – diversification has never been so affordable.

Fresh Blueberries24 ounces • $5.99

A pound and a half of Trader Joe’s Fresh Blueberries for $5.99? That’s right! These are big, juicy, flavorful blueberries. Naturally fat free, blueberries are known for their sky-high levels of antioxidants known as anthocyanins. Blueberries are also known for their sweet-tangy flavor that’s good with everything from yogurt to ice cream, muffins to pancakes, smoothies to cocktails (doesn’t a blueberry Martini sound great?). Blueberries are also delicious eaten out of hand, straight from the container – we do recommend washing them first, of course. A snack food that tastes this good and has a mere 84 calories in a one cup serving? Sign us up!

Trader Joe’s Fresh Blueberries can be found in our produce section. Each 24 ounce recyclable clamshell container is $5.99.

Gold Potatoes • 3 Pound Bag • $1.99 Every Day!These potatoes are worth their weight in gold. There’s no need to look for a rainbow to find this pot (bag) of gold. Every bite is a gold mine of great taste. This is a gold-en opportunity to get great tasting potatoes for a super price.

Well… now that we’ve dispensed with the metaphorical, we can get down to the real thing, Trader Joe’s Gold Potatoes. These are medium sized (about 2¼”), yellow fleshed potatoes whose color comes from beta carotene (yes, the same beta carotene responsible for the carrot’s orange-ness). Their rich,

creamy flavor and velvety smooth texture make them pretty much perfect for mashing. They also make a good impression roasted, baked or broiled. They make a great impression on your wallet – each three pound bag is $1.99, every day.

We recommend storing our Gold Potatoes (and all potatoes, for that matter) in a cool, dark place. But don’t refrigerate them – that will cause the potato’s starch to convert to sugar.

Organic Herb SaladIn the world of greens, it’s important to remember that all lettuces are not created equally. And while we are equal opportunity lettuce lovers, we feel it’s important to recognize and celebrate differences. Some have a bitter taste, some are sweeter. Some have large leaves, some small. And some reach their peak flavors when combined with other greens.

That’s how we feel about our Organic Herb Salad. This is a unique mix, and one of our best selling lettuce blends. We start with an assortment of organic baby greens for maximum flavor. Then we add a blend of fresh organic dill, cilantro and flat leaf (Italian) parsley to really jazz it up. This is a terrific mix right out of the bag - of course, we always recommend rinsing bagged salads before eating for enhanced freshness. You can also liven it up with dried cranberries or cherries and some shaved Fontina Cheese (p. 16). And it’s a value, too. Each five ounce bag is just $1.99 and will make appetizer-sized salads for four or more.

Lowfat Granola with Almonds We’re not so much about adhering to conventional wisdom as we are about proving it’s not true. We didn’t buy in to the conventional wisdom that rock & roll was a fad, we didn’t buy into the conventional wisdom that mullets were attractive, and we definitely didn’t buy into the conventional wisdom that great-tasting granola had to be loaded with fat. We just knew there had to be a better way. And, wouldn’t you know it, there was. There is! And we have it!

Trader Joe’s Lowfat Granola with Almonds is everything you want from granola – crunchy, flavorful and natural – without the high fat content of most granolas. And it gets a naturally sweet & crunchy boost from the sliced almonds packed inside. And did we mention it has five grams of dietary fiber per serving? We weren’t kidding when we said conventional wisdom was wrong.

Trader Joe’s Lowfat Granola with Almonds comes in a 16 ounce box for $2.79, every day. You’ll find it with the breakfast cereals.

Wow! What a deal!Douglas Oak Napa SyrahA Really Good Red • $8.99

This is a big wine, so the oak tree struck us as the perfect way to symbolize it – big, bold, rather majestic, solid, but without any ego to get in the way. Then, of course, there’s the fact that the wine aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. And let’s not forget the pedigree factor. All of the grapes hail from Oakville, at the center of the famed Napa Valley.

Now let’s move on to actual characteristics. Powerful and majestic, this is a brawny, complex wine that boasts blackberry, cocoa and coffee notes, with subtle hints of anise. A hint of smoke and light allspice imparted from the oak barrel aging rounds out the flavor profile in stately style. Somewhat soft, focused tannins make this wine a real standout in the bold, strong red category. Through our close vini-relationships, we were able to source a limited number of cases of this wonderful wine. We’re selling Douglas Oak Napa Syrah for $8.99 per 750 ml bottle, while it lasts.

Fontina Cheese from a Master Cheesemaker

Organic American Cheese SlicesAmerican cheese. If you’re a fan, you’ve probably noticed it missing from our cheese selection. And you told us so. And we heard you – loud and clear – which is why you’ll now find that Trader Joe’s Organic American Cheese Slices have taken their rightful place in our cheese case.

Our Organic American Cheese comes to us from a family farm in Wisconsin. It’s produced for us using organic milk from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones. It’s also made without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, contains just 50 calories per slice and is low in cholesterol. American cheese is known for its terrific melt-ability, and ours passes this test with flying colors, making it a natural for grilled cheese or cheeseburgers. Because the slices are individually wrapped, this is an easy on-the-go snack, too.

We’re selling each eight ounce package of Trader Joe’s Organic American Cheese Slices (12 slices) for $3.49, every day.

Cave Aged, Artisan Crafted Blue Cheese

To the uninitiated, it may seem strange that cheese would be aged in caves. Legend has it, though, that the world’s first blue cheese was developed in the natural caves of France, where temperature and humidity conditions were ideal for this purpose. Trader Joe’s Cave Aged Blue Cheese continues this tradition in sandstone caves in Minnesota.

TJ’s Cave Aged Blue Cheese is a complex cheese whose flavor is the result of the dedication of true artisan cheesemakers. It is premium, handmade cheese with deep bluish-green veins and strong, savory flavor. This is a terrific cheese to serve cold, crumbled atop a salad or with sliced fruit. Bring it to room temperature, and it’s delicious with crackers or melted over a steak or burger. Of course, its bold flavors mingle beautifully with hearty red wines like Cabernet Sauvignon. And because it melts so well, it’s a great cheese for sauces – potatoes au gratin anyone? We’re selling Trader Joe’s Cave Aged Blue Cheese in random-weight wedges of about eight ounces for $6.99 a pound, a fantastic price for cheese with such a pedigree.

Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzel Slims

We started something of a revolution when we introduced Trader Joe’s Pretzel Slims a couple of years back. Sure, you may think that’s an exaggeration, but think about it – a thin, crunchy hybrid of cracker and pretzel, delivering all the best attributes of both… that’s revolutionary, dear snack-seeking friends.

Far from resting on our revolutionary laurels, we like to re-imagine even our best ideas, and that’s how we came up with Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzel Slims. We’ve taken our original creations and dredged them in smooth dark chocolate, and in the process, fashioned a sweet-salty snack that is, frankly, irresistible. Even with the chocolate, they still live up to their “slim” moniker, and we’re selling them for the slim price of $2.99 for each six ounce bag.

Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Seeds

Exclusively at Trader Joe’sGood news! Antioxidant rich pomegranate seeds are now available covered in antioxidant rich dark chocolate! It’s an antioxidant love fest, and you can get in on the love at Trader Joe’s. Not sure what to expect from this unexpected pairing? So good. The seeds have a little crunch, or, perhaps more accurately, a little “pop,” and the chocolate is a semi-sweet dark, so it provides a delicious balance to the tartness of the pomegranate seeds. We like them by the handful, and we’ve also found that they’re quite wonderful on ice cream.

We’re selling each five ounce tub of these kosher certified treats for $2.99 – another antioxidant rich value you’ll find only at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s.

The origins of Fontina can be traced back more than a thousand years to the Italian Alps. And while this distinctive cow’s milk cheese is still produced in the region, there is also excellent Fontina cheese made in a number of other parts of the world.

To wit, Trader Joe’s Fontina Cheese comes to us from a Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker. To attain the level of Master Cheesemaker, the artisan must have at least 10 years of licensed experience, take numerous courses and complete a 3-year apprenticeship for each cheese for which certification is sought. Even after certification, to ensure quality and consistency, samples of a maker’s cheese must

be submitted over time for evaluation. And what does the Master Cheesemaker designation mean for you? Long story short: really great cheeses.

And that brings us back to the cheese itself. The unique aging process by which Fontina is crafted results in cheese with a delicately nutty flavor and a hint of honey. Not too soft or too firm, Trader Joe’s Fontina has a consistency similar to Emmenthaler, and is suitable for both shredding and slicing. Liven up your lasagna with grated Fontina, or slice it and serve it as an hors d’oeuvre with fresh fruit. We’re selling Fontina in random weight wedges of about 9.5 ounces for the super price of $4.99 a pound.

Pear Sauce Cups4-Pack • $2.49

Here’s a bit of pear trivia that’s sure to enliven your conversations while enjoying the naturally sweet flavor of Trader Joe’s Pear Sauce Cups. In 17th century England, a schoolmaster named John Stair sold some pear tree cuttings to a grower named Williams, who promptly named the variety after himself. The Williams pear became a staple variety, and when brought to the New World it was planted by one Enoch Bartlett. Unaware of the origins of the pear, Mr. Bartlett named it after himself, and from then on, the Williams Pear became known as the Bartlett Pear. Well, at least in the United States. In Great Britain and beyond, they’re still Williams Pears.

Now that you have interesting tidbits for discussion, we can get down to business. Trader Joe’s Pear Sauce Cups contain 100% Bartlett Pear sauce made with pears picked at the peak of ripeness. They’re cooked slowly in small batches to preserve the pears’ flavor and texture, and we never add sugar or other sweeteners. If you’re an apple sauce fan and a lover of pears, you’ll love Trader Joe’s Pear Sauce Cups. We’re selling each 4-pack of four ounce cups for $2.49, every day.

Fresh Cut Pineapple Spears • How Sweet They Are!

All Natural. No Preservatives.Apples & Cinnamon Oatmeal

There are lots of choices when it comes to flavored oatmeal. When you compare the offerings in a traditional supermarket to those you’ll find at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s, though, you’ll find that you’re not really comparing apples to apples.

Speaking of apples, Trader Joe’s Apples & Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal is a great example of what sets our oatmeal apart from the crowd. Like other instant oatmeal, ours comes packaged in individual servings and can be prepared in about a minute and a half. Where ours veers off onto a better path is in its ingredients. We use only natural ingredients like whole grain rolled oats, sugar, sulfite-free dried apples and ground cinnamon. We don’t use high fructose corn syrup, and we never add artificial flavors, colors or preservatives of any kind. Our Apples & Cinnamon Oatmeal is low in fat, has three grams of fiber per serving and is a good source of seven vitamins and minerals. Best of all, it actually tastes like apples and cinnamon. Imagine that!

We’re selling Trader Joe’s Apples & Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal in boxes of 10 packets for the everyday price of $2.29 – that’s just 23 cents a serving! How ‘bout them apples?

If you love the taste of fresh pineapple but you’re not such a big fan of cutting and peeling said fresh pineapple, Trader Joe’s Fresh Cut Pineapple Spears will bring incalculable joy to your life. Inside each 16 ounce re-sealable tub you’ll find freshly cut and peeled pineapple spears and nothing else. We use a special breed of pineapple grown in Costa Rica – they are the sweetest pineapples we’ve ever tasted,

and they taste as fresh as they would if you’d cut and peeled them yourself. Which, of course, you don’t have to. Cool, huh?

Enjoy our Pineapple Spears as a snack, straight from the fridge. Or chop them to use in salsas or even add to avocado to make pineapple guacamole. However you use them, they’re sweet tasting and a sweet deal at $3.29 for each 16 ounce tub. You’ll find them in our refrigerated produce section.Sunshine Bouquet

$7.99 Every Day!We could all use a little sunshine, don’t you think? A relief from winter’s cold hand would bring some much needed warmth to the day. Well, we can’t promise you warm, sunny days, but we can promise the bright, beautiful, affordable Trader Joe’s Sunshine Bouquet. That’s something, right?

Sunshine Bouquet is a bright yellow combination of yellow roses, sunflowers, Gerbera daisies and yellow carnations, with other yellow flowers of the season and just enough foliage to complement the flowers (i.e., not so much that you feel like you’re paying for foliage). It virtually screams sunshine. Especially sunny is the price of $7.99. And if you change the water daily, this price will seem like an even bigger value, because the flowers will stay beautiful for as long as seven days – that’s a whole week, by the way.

Nothing bouys my spirit like Trader Joe’s Sunshine Bouquet.

Okay, that explains your outfit. What about the shrimp guy?

Organic Whole Grain DrinkDairy & Gluten Free

Here’s an entirely new entry in the “non-dairy milk” category. There’s soy milk, and rice milk and almond milk and the like. But we haven’t seen whole grain milk until now. Trader Joe’s Organic Whole Grain Drink (Original and Unsweetened varieties) is a delicious, nutritious blend of organic whole grains – brown rice, amaranth, millet and quinoa. This combination makes a silky smooth, delicious dairy milk alternative, enriched with vitamins A, B12, C, D and Calcium. It’s also gluten free and nut free, low in fat and a good source of fiber.

Trader Joe’s Organic Whole Grain Drinks are refreshing beverages, delicious over cereal and a good replacement for milk in recipes. We’re selling each 32 ounce resealable container for the great value price of $1.99, every day.

Low Sodium Garden PatchAfter tasting this flavor-filled multi-vegetable juice, your first reaction will likely be “Wow!” Trader Joe’s Low Sodium Garden Patch is a blend of juices – carrot, celery, beet, parsley, lettuce and watercress – with tomato paste, red pepper purée and other natural flavors. It tastes similar to the vegetable juices you’ll find elsewhere, but unlike many of them, it’s 100% juice. It also has all the flavor of our original Garden Patch, but with a stunning sodium reduction of 80%! This information will likely lead to your second reaction… “What?!?” But it’s true; 80% less sodium than the original. It has a little kick to it (a bit of red pepper powder provides this) and is bursting with fresh vegetable flavor – we promise you won’t miss the salt.

Try Trader Joe’s Low Sodium Garden Patch on its own over ice, with a celery stalk for garnish, or as a make-shift Bloody Mary Mix with your favorite vodka. We’re selling each 64 ounce, shelf stable bottle for $3.29, every day.

100% Cherry JuiceWe love cherries in all of their various incarnations. Sweet, tart, fresh, dried… and of course, juiced. Much of what you’ll find in the marketplace labeled “cherry juice” is actually a blend, or cocktail, of juices, with cherry juice as a mere ingredient. But Trader Joe’s 100% Cherry Juice is exactly that, 100% tart, tasty cherry juice, with nothing added. Like a good pucker now and then? Drink it straight or over ice. Add it to a cocktail (with or without alcohol) or mix it with other juices to suit your individual tastes. We’ve even heard tell of delicious smoothies resulting from the addition of this cherr-ific juice.

We’re selling each 32 ounce bottle of Trader Joe’s 100% Cherry Juice for $3.99, every day.

Charmingly Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

We like to think of ourselves as forward thinking, always searching for foods that take us places we’ve never been. But we’ll also admit to a bit of nostalgia sometimes, especially when it comes to things like cookies. And that’s what makes Trader Joe’s Charmingly Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies so near and dear to us – they taste so much like the cookies we enjoyed growing up, if we didn’t know better, we’d be sure mom was in the kitchen baking!

These are good cookies, plain and simple, made with all natural ingredients like whole grain rolled oats and plump raisins. They’re moist and chewy, great with a glass of milk or a cup of tea (we suggest our Irish Breakfast Tea, page 20). We’re selling them in a nine ounce box for the nostalgic price of $2.99, every day.

Greek Style Vanilla YogurtFat Free • 16 Ounce Tub • $2.79

Greek-style yogurt was pretty much an anomaly in the U.S. a decade ago. Once it hit, it pretty much took the yogurt world by storm. And why not? It is similar in texture to sour cream, but with all the pleasant tang of yogurt. In the case of Trader Joe’s Greek Style Vanilla 0% Yogurt, that pleasant tang and thick, creamy texture comes without any fat. That’s right, fat free, and feels like sour cream in your mouth. Sounds like a fantasy, but it’s real.

Trader Joe’s Greek Style Vanilla 0% Yogurt, flavored with real vanilla, is made just for us from the milk of cows not treated with artificial growth hormones. Serve it with fresh fruit or granola for breakfast, add a bit of honey to make a sweetly satisfying dessert, or enjoy it as a snack, with or without στολές (that’s accoutrements, in Greek). We’re selling it in 16 ounce tubs for $2.79 each, every day.

Before Trader Joe’s 0% Greek Style Yogurt, I was insecure. Now, I’m confident enough to go to the beach in this very revealing bathing suit.

Dynamo Juice plus CalciumSome products are complex, prompting us to provide you with lots of information. Some, pretty simple. Trader Joe’s Dynamo plus Calcium falls into the simple category. Simple because while it does have a number of components, they’re all really simple: five fruit juices (white grape, pineapple, orange, apple and lemon) fortified with 12 vitamins and calcium, with no added sweeteners. A single eight ounce serving of Dynamo plus Calcium packs a nutritious punch unmatched by most fruit juices, because it’s not only enriched with vitamins, it contains a full 100% of the recommended daily value of all 12 of those vitamins, plus 33% of the calcium you need every day – that’s the same amount of calcium you’ll get in a glass of milk! Maybe best of all, a 64 ounce bottle of this dynamite juice is just $3.79. Simply delicious juice. And a simply terrific value.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies 100 Calorie Packs

We’re Trader Joe’s, and we have cookie issues. We bring home a tub of cookies, and before you know it, we’ve devoured said tub’s entire contents. We’ve tried simple self control techniques. Didn’t work. We’ve tried hypnotherapy (you don’t want the cookie, you don’t want the cookie – yeah right!). We’ve even tried threatening ourselves with harm – problem here was we knew our follow through would be as reliable as our self control. But then we discovered the solution to our cookie conundrum – portion-control, 100 calorie packs of some of our favorite cookies. Success!

Trader Joe’s 100 Calorie Packs Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies are crunchy little cookies in convenient packs of 100 calories each. Think of them as self control, in a bag. No artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, no trans fats and no high fructose corn syrup. Just good tasting, kosher certified cookies in sensible-sized packs. We’re selling each box of six 100 calorie packs for $2.29, every day.

A sweet alternative…Organic Raw Blue Agave Nectar

$2.99 for 11.75 ouncesOur Organic Raw Blue Agave Nectar is made from the nectar of the blue Weber agave plant. This is an impressive, cactus-like plant with far-reaching, smooth, green leaves springing from one core. From the core of the plant, also known as the piña, one can produce both tequila and a delicious natural sweetener. Seldom are these mistaken for each other.

For a number of years, we’ve carried an Organic Agave Syrup; we’ve just recently introduced this Organic Raw Blue Agave Nectar, which is a great substitute for people who prefer their foods in a more raw, natural state. This is an all natural sweetener that can be used in place of sugar on fresh fruit or in hot or cold drinks – we’ve heard of mouthwateringly marvelous Margaritas being made with this Nectar of the gods! It’s quick dissolving, so there’s no gritty, sugary feel. A national magazine just listed it as a “hot food” of 2010 – and featured a national brand at a very high price. At Trader Joe’s, each 11.75 ounce bottle is only $2.99, every day.

Great Bread. Less Dough.Soft Whole Wheat Bread

Big 24 Ounce Loaf for $2.49!Some stores have sales every week to draw you in. One week you may get a good deal on product A, but pay dearly for product B. The next week, product A’s price has gone back up, while product B is on sale. Who can keep track? At Trader Joe’s, you never need to keep track of which prices are low when, because we offer the best everyday value prices on everything we sell. Every day.

Like Trader Joe’s Soft Whole Wheat Bread. An inspired marriage of whole wheat and soft, sandwich-perfect bread, each loaf is made with 100% whole wheat flour, with just a touch of honey. Low in fat and a good source of fiber (three grams of fiber in every slice), this bread makes super sandwiches and terrific toast. And at a mere $2.49 every day for each 24 ounce loaf, it’s a value you can count on every time you shop at your neighborhood Trader Joe’s. You’ll find Soft Whole Wheat Bread in our fresh bakery section.

Considering the “cookie diet”? Consider this: a

pack of cookies has only 100 calories, and a cup of

juice has 100% of the Daily Value of 12 vitamins,

plus 33% of a day’s calcium. We’re not advocating

living on cookies & juice. Just considering...

One bag of Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies! Is that too much to ask?

Naturally sweet!100% Pure Florida Orange Juice

$2.99 a Half GallonThis is the time of year when you can expect the “orange juice wars” to commence. Prices will go up and down, coupons will come and go, and you’ll be left more confused than when you began. Unless, of course, you buy your orange juice from Trader Joe’s. This, not surprisingly, is the option we suggest.

Trader Joe’s Orange Juice (No Pulp) is made with 100% Florida oranges – much of the orange juice you’ll see on other store shelves is a blend of juices from Brazil, Mexico and other states in the U.S. Those juices are just fine, but we find Florida oranges to be naturally sweeter than pretty much any other oranges, and there’s nothing like the naturally sweet flavor of a cold glass of O.J.

When you buy your Not from Concentrate Orange Juice at Trader Joe’s, though, you can count on more than simply great-tasting juice. You can count on a great value, every day. It’s priced at $2.99 for a 64 ounce carton – a truly excellent value – and that price won’t change unless our costs change. No coupons, no keeping track of sales, just an honest value on some honestly delicious Orange Juice, every day.

Organic Probiotic Yogurt Smoothies

4-Pack • $3.49We’re big fans of “functional foods.” Of course, all food is functional to some degree or another, but we’re talking about foods that offer more than great taste and basic nutrition. Functional foods contribute to your greater well-being by offering nutritional boosts, or, in the case of our new Organic Probiotic Yogurt Smoothies, the digestive benefits of live, active, natural probiotic cultures.

Probiotics have been shown to aid in digestion, and to add to overall digestive health. Trader Joe’s Organic Probiotic Yogurt Smoothies are made with organic lowfat yogurt, and without artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or sweeteners. They’re available in both Wild Berry and Strawberry flavors, each in a 4-pack of six ounce bottles, for the outstanding value price of $3.49. Functional food at a functional price. You’ll find them in our dairy cases.

Triple Berry Bran Muffin MixOnly at Trader Joe’s

If you could find a great-tasting sweet treat that actually had a healthy angle, wouldn’t you jump at it? We certainly did. Trader Joe’s Triple Berry Bran Muffin Mix makes muffins that are low in fat, high in fiber and positively bursting with flavor. The mix begins with a whole wheat flour that bakes and tastes more like a traditional flour, so the muffins are light-tasting and appropriately airy. It’s packed with antioxidant-rich berries (cran, blue and rasp, to be specific) and wheat bran, rolled oats, ground flaxseed and molasses. Just add a couple of eggs and a cup of water and you can’t help but make some seriously delicious muffins – with seven grams of fiber each!

Each 15.5 ounce box of Trader Joe’s Triple Berry Bran Muffin Mix makes about 12 hearty muffins. You’ll find the mix on our grocery shelves for $3.99, every day.

Irish Breakfast Tea80 Bags for $2.99!

Countless treatises have been written on Irish culture and its impact on the world at large. In our opinion, though, not enough of those treatises have been about tea. Though they drink their share of coffee as well, the Irish have one of the world’s highest rates of tea consumption per capita. We think it’s safe to say that when people drink this much tea, they know their stuff, so we’ve developed Trader Joe’s Irish Breakfast Tea with these traditions in mind.

Whether or not you’re Irish, if you’re a tea drinker, we think you’ll love our Irish Breakfast Tea. It’s a full-bodied blend of teas from around the world, including Kenya and the Assam Valley at the base of the Himalayan Mountains – regions renowned for their high quality teas. The traditional Irish breakfast is rich, and hearty enough to nourish body and soul for much of the day. Trader Joe’s Irish Breakfast Tea was created to be bold enough to hold its own with such a big breakfast. In the cup, it’s full-bodied, bright and mellow, with or without milk – milk being a customary addition for the Irish. We’re selling each box of 80 tea bags for $2.99. Some folks surf the world wide web looking for great values;

Joe surfs the whole wide world.

Dutch Tulips • Bunches of 10 for $5.99 a Bunch! There’s nothing like a bunch of fresh cut flowers to brighten up a room. Or a whole house, for that matter. When those flowers are tulips, things just get even brighter. And when those tulips come from Trader Joe’s and cost a mere $5.99 for a bunch of ten, it’s so bright it may just feel like the sun is shining 24 hours a day.

Tulips have been cultivated in Holland for so long that most of the world is under the mistaken impression that the tulip is a Dutch native. In truth, though, tulips originated around the

area of central Asia that is now Turkey and were brought to The Netherlands in the 1500’s. And this is the starting point of Trader Joe’s Dutch Tulips. These are big, beautiful, hardy blooms with excellent shelf life. We’re selling these striking stems in bunches of ten for the terrific price of $5.99 a bunch. Each bunch is made up of a single color – we have a wide variety of colors from which to choose, and our price is low enough that you can afford to buy a bunch of bunches if you’re in the mood to mix and match.

Back By Popular Demand!Trader Joe’s All Natural Peppermint Toothpaste

$1.99 a Tube! We’ve carried our “no artificial ingredients” philosophy from food to toothpaste. Trader Joe’s Peppermint Toothpaste is made with all natural ingredients and without so many of the artificials used in most toothpaste brands. In other words, you’ll find no saccharine, no sodium laurel sulfate and no propylene glycol in our Peppermint Toothpaste.

We do use baking powder and fluoride – ingredients proven to clean teeth and fight cavities – as well as natural peppermint flavor that leaves your mouth feeling clean and refreshed. Our formula has been tested, and it’s as effective as the national brands with all the artificial stuff. Plus, it leaves your mouth feeling mighty refreshed.

A few months ago, we made the mistake of discontinuing this toothpaste. Wow, are we ever sorry we did that. We offer you a big mea culpa. Trust us, we heard your displeasure, and we’re happy to bring it back. If you haven’t tried Trader Joe’s Peppermint Toothpaste, now’s the perfect time to go au naturel. We’re selling each six ounce tube for the phenomenal price of $1.99, every day. Smile!

Crispy Crunchy Apple ClustersOnly at Trader Joe’s

Roasted Piquillo PeppersLiterally translated to “little beak peppers,” piquillo (pick-EE-oh) peppers are indeed shaped like little beaks. Their origins can be traced back to pre-Incan South America, though they are most commonly associated with Spain. In the mid 1990’s, cultivation of these piquant peppers returned to South America, and Trader Joe’s Roasted Piquillo Peppers come to us from the fertile farmlands of Peru.

These are whole peppers, roasted to a soft, pliable, but never mushy texture. Similar in flavor to roasted red bell peppers, but with a bit more oomph, Roasted Piquillo Peppers are as versatile as they are flavorful. Stuff with goat cheese and spear with a toothpick to make a quick, impressive appetizer. Rough-chop and sprinkle atop a salad. Add to sandwiches for a big burst of flavor. You could even add some, chopped, to make some very grown-up mac & cheese.

We’re selling Roasted Piquillo Peppers in a 10.4 ounce jar for the terrific price of $1.99 each. We haven’t seen these flavorful little peppers for a value like this anywhere else.

Crispy, crunchy little clusters of finely diced dried apples. That’s what’s in the bag. They’re Trader Joe’s Apple Clusters, and they’re bursting with fresh apple flavor, but their extra crunchy texture is like nothing you’ve ever had. Visually, they may remind you of mini popcorn balls, or maybe ball-shaped rice cakes. But when you open the bag there won’t be any doubt that you’re dealing with apples. Sweet, delicious, crunchy apples.

Our supplier is a small Chilean company who makes these for us in small batches. They make them only for Trader Joe’s – really, who else would even think about selling these little gems? At our price of $2.29 for a 3.5 ounce bag, you won’t have to think twice about picking up a few bags for yourself next time you visit your neighborhood Trader Joe’s. You’ll find them in our dried fruit & nut section.

Sonoma Vineyards Chardonnay, Merlot & Sauvignon Blanc

$5.99 a BottleWe’re not allowed to tell you who the winemaking masters are who created Sonoma Vineyards Wines. We have a strong suspicion, though, that you’ll be hearing more from both this winemaker and these wines. For now, though, they’ve decided to redesign their labels, do a little “re-branding” with new labels, and continue on making excellent Sonoma county wines.

Why do you care about this? Simple. Because our friends at Sonoma Vineyards still had inventory in the “old” labels (featuring beautiful black & white photos that capture the beauty of some Sonoma County landscapes, by the way), they wanted to move said inventory out to make room for their “new” labels, and we found ourselves in the enviable position of being able to offer you these wines for the outstanding price of $5.99 a bottle.

Sonoma Vineyards Chardonnay is unoaked, crisp and brimming with juicy, ripe fruit flavors like pineapple and pear, with a lively bit of citrus. The Merlot is rich, yet easygoing, loaded with wild berries and juicy plums, with hidden gems like melted chocolate and cedar on the finish. Finally, the Sauvignon Blanc is a bright white, bursting with grapefruit and tropical fruit flavors, even a hint of passion

Fortuitous Fridge Find!Sausage & Peppers

Comfort Food Italian StyleWe’re big fans of home cooking. We’re also realists, with a full understanding of how the time constraints of the modern world make home cooking a luxury many of us cannot afford. That’s why we’ve taken such a liking to the myriad fully-cooked, tastes-like-homemade entrées in our refrigerated cases. Entrées like Trader Joe’s Fully Cooked Sausage & Peppers. Medallion-sliced Italian pork sausage, strips of green, yellow & red bell peppers and a richly flavored marinara sauce. You could definitely make this from scratch – if you had a few hours to slice, blend and simmer. With our fully cooked version, you can have this savory dish on the dinner table in less than five minutes.

Serve with pasta or rice as a quick and impressive center of the plate feature. Or pair with your favorite roll to make a satisfying sausage & pepper sandwich in minutes. We’re selling each 16 ounce container of Trader Joe’s Fully Cooked Sausage & Peppers for the excellent price of $5.99, every day.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil From Spain • $5.99 a Liter!

All we can say is, “¡Viva España!”

Okay, that’s not exactly true. You know us better than that, right? There’s a whole lot more we can say about Trader Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Spain. You may immediately think of Italy when thinking of high quality olive oil, but the reality is that remarkable olive oil is being produced everywhere from California to Australia to the European continent. Spain is a veritable treasure trove of olive groves – its rolling hills are home to some of the world’s most flavorful olives. Those olives produce Extra Virgin Olive Oil that is light in color and a bit fruity, with a refreshing “green” flavor.

Use this oil in dressings or marinades or for dipping your favorite crusty bread – really, anywhere you want the flavor of fresh-from-the-grove olive oil. We’re selling each one liter bottle of Trader Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Spain for $5.99, every day.

Made in the U.S.Organic Whole Wheat Penne

If you’re a pasta fan but you’re also trying to incorporate more whole grains into your diet, Trader Joe’s Organic Whole Wheat Penne makes it oh-so-easy to adopt those more healthful eating habits we all know are so important to our well being.

Our Organic Whole Wheat Penne is made for us with wheat grown in the great state of Arizona. This may come as a surprise to some, but Arizona is one of this country’s major wheat producers, and much of that wheat grows within easy driving distance of major metropolitan areas. For example, the wheat used to make this pasta grows primarily within 100 miles to the south and west of Phoenix, known more for its desert vistas than waving wheat fields.

TJ’s Organic Whole Wheat Penne has more protein and fiber than our regular pasta, and its flavor is a bit nuttier than other pastas. It holds sauce as well as its traditional counterpart, and its rich flavor makes it a natural ingredient in everything from traditional spaghetti & meatballs to more complex baked pasta dishes. We’re selling Trader Joe’s Organic Whole Wheat Penne in a 16 ounce bag for $1.29.

No artificial flavors, colors or preservatives!Reduced Guilt Fare

Fair Prices GuaranteedLow calorie, low fat, so-called “diet” entrees fill the freezers at most grocery stores. So while we don’t necessarily see ourselves as trendy, we’d have been foolish not to notice a trend. Unfortunately the trend we noticed wasn’t good. We couldn’t help but see that all these so-called “healthy” options were absolutely loaded with artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, not to mention gums and fillers and, generally, a whole bunch of ingredients we didn’t want to eat.

What we did want were great-tasting entrées with reduced calorie counts, made without artificials, and at excellent value prices. Enter Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Entrées:

q Filet of Sole with Rich Butter Beans & Seasoned Fresh Spinach Leavesq Roasted Vegetable Couscous with Fresh Spinach, Roasted Garlic & Fresh Herbsq Baked Ziti with Mozzarella & Grana Cheese

Each of these can be considered a healthy option, with fewer calories than most frozen entrées – the Filet of Sole, for example, has only 190 calories in the entire entrée! We call them Reduced Guilt because we think you shouldn’t have to feel guilty about enjoying great tasting food. And now you don’t.

Even our prices will make you feel good. Baked Ziti is $1.99 for each 8.5 ounce package. Roasted Vegetable Couscous is $2.69 for 8.5 ounces. And Filet of Sole is $2.99 for 8.5 ounces. No guilt there.

Dark Chocolate Lover’s Chocolate Bar

85% Cacao • Smooth & RichWe’ve heard people talk about “bitter” dark chocolate, and indeed, we’ve tasted our share of bitter-over-all-else dark chocolate. You may be tempted to assume that Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Lover’s Chocolate Bar, with 85% cacao, would stand with the bitter faction. But we all know what happens when you assume, right?

Okay, then. This really is a dark chocolate lover’s chocolate bar. Chocolate from Colombia’s Tumaco region is known for its fruity flavor profile, and ours doesn’t disappoint. Our supplier grows the cocoa beans, harvests the beans, roasts the beans and turns them into chocolate. They also make and package the individual bars for Trader Joe’s. Generally, all of these processes are done by individual companies & craftspeople. By keeping it all in one place, we are better able to control both quality and cost. And that’s why you’ll pay a mere $1.49 for each 3.5 ounce package of two Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Lover’s Chocolate Bars. People seem to think dark chocolate of this quality is supposed to cost considerably more than this – one taste of our bars and we promise you’ll never make that assumption again.

Did you know... Dark Chocolate contains nearly eight

times the antioxidants as strawbnerries.

Brown Rice Frozen, Fully CookedReady in 3 Minutes!

We really hit the mother lode with our fully cooked, frozen rice. We haven’t seen products like these anywhere else, and from the speed at which they’ve been flying out of our freezers, it appears you love them as much as we do. In fact, we’ve been selling so much of our frozen rice that we’ve been having a hard time keeping them in stock. So, we went looking for additional sources, and we found a great tasting Brown Rice to supplement our existing organic product.

Trader Joe’s Brown Rice is produced just for us, cooked and frozen within days of milling, so you’ll notice it tastes even fresher and nuttier than brown rice from a box you cook at home. (Because it has been minimally processed, brown rice slowly begins to go bad after milling, so the longer it sits uncooked on your shelf, the more likely it is to become rancid.)

We’re selling each box of three 10 oz packets for $2.99. Brown rice in three minutes? That fantasy is a reality, every day at Trader Joe’s.

All Natural!Buttermilk Pancake &

All Purpose Baking Mix$1.99 for a 32 Ounce Box!

We love pancakes all year long, but there’s something about a cold, blustery winter morning and a stack of pancakes that just go together. For the crazy-low price of $1.99, (plus the cost of four eggs and some water), a box of Trader Joe’s Buttermilk Pancake & All Purpose Baking Mix will make upwards of 45 4-inch pancakes – that’s about 4¢ per pancake, 24¢ for a stack of six! And this mix makes really good pancakes, too. Light and fluffy inside, just a bit of crunch on the outside…

This mix is made just for us using only natural ingredients – none of the artificial flavors, colors or preservatives found in some other baking mixes. Don’t limit yourself to pancakes, either. You can use TJ’s Buttermilk Pancake & All Purpose Baking Mix for waffles, scones, biscuits – even cookies! There are recipes on the box to help you get started.

We’re selling each 32 ounce box of Pancake & All Purpose Baking Mix for $1.99, every day. You’ll find it on our grocery shelves.

40% less fat!Reduced Guilt Organic

White Corn Tortilla ChipsIn addition to having one of the longest names in the history of tortilla chips, Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Organic White Corn Tortilla Chips are among the best tasting chips we’ve had the pleasure of crunching into. They’re not complicated – stone ground white corn, some chip-appropriate seasonings (e.g., salt), and really, really good crunch. But they are surprising; with 40% less fat than our regular white corn tortilla chips.

If reduced guilt snacking is on your agenda, pick up a bag (or two!) of these Reduced Guilt Organic White Corn Tortilla Chips. Add a healthy helping of our Salsa Autentica (p. 3) if you want to spice things up just a bit, without adding any guilt. While the chips may be reduced guilt, their price is virtually guilt free – a mere $1.99 for each 10 ounce bag.
