Student SeatingDue to increasing attendance numbers, and in order to not impose on our shareholderspriority seating in the Arena, we are asking the students to view the meeting from the GrandBallroom at the Omaha Hilton. We have made arrangements for a live broadcast (includingthe company movie) to the ballroom.* When the meeting adjourns for the lunch break, students are welcome to join the shareholders at the CenturyLink Center.

*The student section will not be set up to participate in the Q&A.

Seat SavingWe have received complaints from some shareholders about excessive seat saving in theArena the morning of the meeting. Reserving a few seats for your group is certainlyacceptable, but blocking off entire rows is unfair to the other shareholders. Security willassist in enforcing this policy.

Travel In order to obtain the best rates and airfare, we recommend making all travel arrangementsfor the meeting as early as possible. If you need assistance in arranging lodging, we suggestyou contact Travelink American Express.

A Message From Your Chairman...

Financial journalists from organizations representing newspapers, magazinesand television will participate in the question-and-answer period, asking Charlieand me questions that shareholders have submitted by e-mail. The journalistsand their e-mail addresses are: Carol Loomis, of Fortune, who may be emailed at [email protected]; Becky Quick, of CNBC, [email protected], and Andrew Ross Sorkin, of The New YorkTimes, at [email protected]. From the questions submitted, each journalistwill choose the dozen or so he or she decides are the most interesting andimportant. (In your e-mail, let the journalist know if you would like your namementioned if your question is selected.)

This year we are adding a second panel of three financial analysts who followBerkshire. They are Cliff Gallant of KBW, Jay Gelb of Barclays Capital andGary Ransom of Dowling and Partners. This group will bring their own Berkshire-specific questions and alternate with journalists and the audience.

Neither Charlie nor I will get so much as a clue about the questions to be asked. We know the journalists and analysts will pick some tough ones and that’s theway we like it.

We will have a drawing at 8:15 at each of the 13 microphones for thoseshareholders wishing to ask questions themselves. At the meeting, I will alternatethe questions asked by the journalists and analysts with those from the winningshareholders.

Microphone Manners

When asking a question from a microphone zone, please:

• State your name and hometown.• Ask your question promptly — speak loud & clear.• Do not ask more than one question or attempt to “bundle” several

questions together.• Do not ask what we are buying or selling. Even if the information

is public, we do not discuss how we arrive at our decisions. Any other subjects are fair game.
